Chapter 16 New Changes in Space

In mid-April, the villagers of Wangjia Village finished their work in the fields and began to go up the mountain every day to look for food.

The peach tree in Old Lady Feng's yard was bearing fruit, and each peach peeked out from among the leaves. The first thing Lotus did every morning when she woke up was to count the peaches on the tree.

"Wow! Ten more have sprouted today! This peach tree is so fruitful!" Lotus exclaimed. "The peaches from this tree are enough to feed our family for a month!"

Shuixiu scooped out a spoonful of cornmeal from the house, grabbed a handful of dried sweet potatoes, put them in the pot to cook, and this was the family's breakfast.

Jiaojiao was still fast asleep in her bed. She'd been busy in her space all night. Yesterday, Lianhua had brought back a handful of shepherd's purse. Since it was so little and not worth eating, Jiaojiao had simply tossed it into her space. When she checked her space before going to bed that night, she was nearly startled.

The entire space was filled with wild vegetables wherever there was any soil. This was not the end, as these wild vegetables continued to spread, and were about to reach the edge of the space.

"That's too exaggerated!" Jiaojiao opened her mouth wide.

"Do wild vegetables grow so fast? Why not just plant more wild vegetables?"

But how do you harvest so many wild vegetables? Jiaojiao is so desperate that she has to rely on her feet?

At this moment, the space began to shake again. Jiaojiao had experience this time, and this meant the space was about to get bigger.

Sure enough, a moment later, the space expanded outwards with a bang. Jiaojiao no longer cared about the wild vegetables and hurriedly lifted her skirt to look around.

The space became larger, and Jiaojiao was out of breath after running halfway.

"It would be nice if I could have a carriage or something!" Jiaojiao thought. She ran a little further and saw a small black dot flying in the sky in the distance. The black dot grew bigger and bigger, and it turned out to be a big bird.

The big bird flew over Jiaojiao's head and circled a few times. Finally, it let out a long cry, slowly fell from the sky, and landed beside Jiaojiao.

"Hello?" Jiaojiao tentatively greeted the bird. This was the first animal she had seen in this space.

The big bird looked at her, flapped its wings and lowered its body.

It looks like... let her sit on it?

Jiaojiao didn't dare to try. What if she misunderstood? Would she be pecked to death by the giant bird's sharp beak?

"Thank you very much! I'd better go on my own..."

But the bird had its eyes fixed on Jiaojiao. No matter which direction Jiaojiao went, it would stand in front of her instead of flapping its wings or looking back at her.

Jiaojiao had no choice but to try to get closer to the big bird. Seeing that it did not resist, she slowly climbed onto the bird's back.

The big bird waited for her to sit down, flapped its wings gently, took a few steps, and then flapped its wings and flew away.

Jiaojiao clung to the big bird's back, only to hear the wind whistling in her ears, and was so frightened that she dared not move.

The bird flew in the air for a moment, and Jiaojiao felt her body lean forward. She lay on the bird's back and opened her eyes, and sure enough, it was gradually descending.

Before my eyes was a huge mountain covered with lush greenery, and at the foot of the mountain a gurgling stream meandered along the slope.

The big bird landed on a big rock on the mountain. After it landed steadily, its upper body leaned back slightly, and Jiaojiao quickly slid down from the bird's back.

Only after she put her feet on the stone did Jiaojiao feel at ease. She stamped her feet vigorously, thinking that the new mount was a bit too advanced, and ordinary people couldn't accept it all at once!

Birds chirped in the mountains, and various fruit trees were laden with fruits. Jiaojiao swallowed her saliva. This space was truly incredible. The entire mountain was a treasure trove!

The big bird looked at Jiaojiao and let out a long cry towards the sky.

A moment later, there was a faint rustling sound in the forest. Jiaojiao quietly approached the bird, hoping to escape in time if a ferocious beast appeared.

However, unexpectedly, a group of...little monkeys came out.

The leading monkey was very clever. He was the first to run to Jiaojiao and grinned at her.

Jiaojiao was about to escape when she saw the little monkey handing a plump white carrot to Jiaojiao.

Jiaojiao resisted the urge to run away and laughed dryly, "I don't like radishes."

The big bird snorted. Jiaojiao glanced at the big bird and felt that this "snort" was not a good thing.

The little monkey loosened the carrot again.

"For me? I didn't bring any return gift, so I feel embarrassed to accept your gift..." Jiaojiao hesitated and still didn't dare to reach out.

The monkey threw carrots at her, and Jiaojiao had to catch them in a hurry.

Well, okay, such a big white radish would be nice to take out and stew for my great-grandmother and the others. It can be considered a meal.

Seeing this, the other little monkeys came up and gave their things to Jiaojiao.

In an instant, the big rock in front of Jiaojiao was piled with all kinds of food: grapes, peaches, pears, plums, melons, mulberries, bayberries, and so on.

Jiaojiao was stunned. There were so many fruits on this mountain.

A group of monkeys squatted in front of her, looking at her with their heads tilted. It would not be good not to eat. Jiaojiao stretched out her hand, but before she could take any fruit, the pile of fruits suddenly disappeared. Jiaojiao was confused. What happened?

Before she could think of anything, the monkeys in front of her were even more excited than she was. They bared their teeth, jumped and screamed. Finally, several monkeys knelt down and kowtowed to Jiaojiao like a human.

What happened? Jiaojiao didn't dare to move or ask. Even if she did, no one would answer her.

But where did that pile of fruit go? She had learned a lot of skills since she was a child, but she had never learned the magic of making things disappear out of thin air.
