Chapter 145

Tianyun hadn't expected that her deliberate and tactful refusal of the young master would arouse the suspicion of that alluring and charming concubine.

After daybreak, Shi Que flew down from the tree, carrying Tian Yun in her arms.

The two straightened their wrinkled clothes and found a place with water nearby, where they prepared to wash up quickly.

Shi Que tied her hair up in a bun. "We'll arrive at the Huaiyang post station tonight. I'll fetch two pots of hot water for you to wash up properly." Since calling her "Miss" while out in the world could expose their identities at any moment, Shi Que could only address her as "you."

Tianyun wearily splashed some cool water on her face, and once she regained some energy, she took out some cream from her embroidered pouch and carefully applied it to every part of her face.

The biting wind felt like a knife scraping my face. If I didn't take precautions, my face would be so haggard by the time I reached Xihai City.

After making sure the cream was applied evenly all over her face, Tianyun turned her gaze to Shi Que and chuckled, "Would you like some?"

Shi Que waved her hands repeatedly, her face, which was firmly covered by the silver mask, stiffened. "I have thick skin. I don't need it."

The girl had asked the same question a couple of days ago. Shi Que had never seen this thing before and was intrigued. Thinking it might be worth a try, she immediately nodded vigorously.

As a result, when the sticky, slightly milky cream was applied to her face, she felt uncomfortable all over and could only hastily wipe it off, as she really couldn't enjoy it.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say she was wasting such a wonderful thing!

Shi Que felt a tightness in her chest, mixed with a touch of guilt.

The girl found it amusing and didn't blame her at all. Shi Que then felt her anger dissipate and felt a little better.

After applying the skincare product, Tianyun washed her hands, knowing that the water was too cold to touch often.

Shi Que stopped her from taking off her shoes and socks to wash her feet.

She had no choice but to give up, carefully putting away the cream. Her gaze shifted and she saw the woman beside the young master swaying her hips as she approached them, her face displaying a seductive air of being pampered.

Tianyun ignored him and said to Shi Que in a warm voice, "Let's go, we need to eat some dry rations before we continue our journey."

Shi Que nodded, then pretended to put his arm around her shoulder and walk forward protectively. They finally looked like a loving couple. They kept their eyes straight ahead, but when they passed the woman, she reached out and stopped them.

Shi Que asked inquiringly, "Why is Madam blocking our way?"

The woman's eyebrows were drawn very thinly, and when she raised them slightly, they gave her a condescending air. She gazed at Tianyun and said in a seductive voice, "I have come here to advise you that my husband is not someone you can easily seduce."

Her subtle vocal shifts make it sound like she's singing a song.

Tianyun curled her fingers slightly, a hint of surprise in her eyes. "I wear a veil all day long, how could I be accused of seducing someone?" She was quite puzzled.

Judging from the woman's demeanor, she doesn't seem to be behaving like a proper wife. Why is she acting so defensively?

The woman snorted coldly, "How would I know what seductive tricks you used? You're married now, yet you're still so shameless?"

This unfounded accusation was thrown directly at Tianyun. Her eyes darkened, and her face, tinged with a hint of anger, was exceptionally charming. Before she could say anything, Shi Que had already lashed out.

She whispered, "If you dare to make any more false accusations, I'll tear your mouth apart!"

Her voice, chilling and sharp, coupled with the two long swords at her waist, made her words all the more convincing.

The woman was indeed startled. Her lips trembled almost imperceptibly. The man wasn't particularly tall, and he seemed henpecked, so she hadn't taken him seriously. Little did she expect him to be so ruthless from the very first word!

Those who wear shoes are afraid of those who are barefoot. The woman was no longer as arrogant as she had been when she arrived. She forced herself to remain calm, uttered a harsh threat, and said, "You just wait!" Her lips trembled as she finished speaking and hurriedly ran away.

This situation is just like a three-year-old child throwing a tantrum and going home to find their mother.

Tianyun felt gloomy, and the fatigue from not getting enough sleep all rushed over her. She leaned on Shi Que, feeling somewhat exhausted.

He asked listlessly, "How much longer until we reach Xihai City?"

She had never ridden a horse before, and the tender flesh on her legs had long been bruised and swollen from the hard saddle; even the slightest touch caused excruciating pain.

But he held back from saying anything.

Shi Que stood upright, letting her lean on him, and said in a soft voice, "It will take another ten days or so."

Tianyun sighed dejectedly.

She was already struggling to keep going on for only the third day...

I really miss airplanes right now!

The army was not slow in its march, but its sheer number meant it could not travel as fast as a lone warrior.

The rain stopped at midday, and the sun was blazing.

Tianyun, held captive by Shi Que, sat on the horse. She lifted the curtain, took a small sip of water to moisten her dry throat, and asked, "Is that woman still glaring at me?"

For some reason, the woman glared at Tianyun the whole way, her nose and eyes looking completely irrational.

The woman sat in a comfortable carriage, while Tianyun rode a tall horse. Through the thick curtains, their eyes met.

Shi Que glanced at the caravan to the side, then nodded and said, "It's still not over. How about I sneak into the caravan tonight and gouge out her eyes?"

She was furious at the arrogant woman's disrespect towards the girl.

Why would you need to gouge out someone's eyes? Tianyun was choked by her fierce words, his throat felt dry and itchy, and a few smiles were hidden in his dark eyes. He couldn't help but cough a few times before saying, "No need! Let her be."

It wasn't some deep-seated hatred, and besides, their caravan had nearly a hundred people. There was no need to make enemies of them over a crazy woman; it was better to keep to ourselves.

After being rebuffed by the veiled maid last night, the young master lost interest and went to sleep after a brief encounter with the little beauty. When he woke up this morning, he was still groggy and didn't notice that the little beauty had come to provoke him and had even been threatened.
