Chapter 40 You little bitch, take this!

It turns out that once you get used to something, it's hard to adapt to losing it.

These days, Maoduo and her kittens have gotten used to eating salt, and now even a meal of wild vegetables tastes bland.

Gal silently ate his share, then got up and walked outside.

"Where are you going?" CatDodo had just finished speaking when she saw the other party revert to its original form and enter the forest, disappearing in an instant.

Snake Three guessed, "Maybe he wants to go out and play. It would be fun to turn into his original form and run around."

“Idiot, only Snake Three likes this.” Snake One and Snake Two nodded heavily.

CatDodo was both amused and exasperated, so she didn't take it seriously.

Not long after, Gal returned, this time bringing back two more chirping chickens.

The snakes were quite surprised; these two chirping chickens seemed to be quite powerful and were rather large. In the past, even with the help of the cat, they had a hard time catching just one.

"Eat." After saying this, Gal turned around and went back to the lawn to sunbathe and snore. The orc looked like an extremely lazy white cat.

"It's called a big white cat, but it feels more like a Persian cat with some fighting spirit..." Cat Duoduo muttered to herself, but the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up.

Unexpectedly, Gal, who seemed quiet and reserved, was actually quite the brooding type, assuming they were eating wild vegetables because they had no other meat to eat.

"Mommy~" Snake One and the others were now looking at Cat Duoduo pitifully, their faces practically screaming that they wanted something delicious.

"Ahem, I'll give it a try." That's what Maoduo said, but she was actually quite troubled. How could she make something delicious without salt?

After much deliberation, she decided to make roast chicken. This time, she killed a whole chicken first, mainly because it was quite large and could be stuffed with a lot of food to fill its belly.

Thanks to Maoduoduo's careful preparation, the roast chicken smelled really good, whetting one's appetite, and looked quite appetizing.

However, when everyone looked forward to sharing that evening, their expressions changed.

Snake One's eyes were brimming with tears, and Gal paused in his chicken-eating motion, glancing sadly at Cat Dodo, seemingly still with a hint of pity in his eyes.

"Mommy, the taste is too bland."

"...cough cough, there's no salt."

CatDodo was a little embarrassed and whispered, "I'll go get the salt tomorrow morning."

“I’ll go too,” Gal said quickly. “I’m strong.”

When the cubs saw this, they eagerly asked to participate. Gal demonstrated by carrying a rock as tall as an adult orc with one hand, which made the cubs' eyes widen. They then fell into an endless cycle of trying to carry the rock with one hand.

Cat Duoduo, watching from the side, couldn't help but learn. Wow, that's amazing! She could learn from them in the future.

Wait a minute, it seems like this kind of physical activity is beyond her capabilities, even as a snake-like beastman...

Gal said he was going to fetch salt stones, so he went to the place that CatDodo had told him about early in the morning.

While waiting for CatDodo to bring its three cubs to clean up the silt near the house and dig a hole to raise fish in the silt, Gal returned carrying a salt stone as tall as an adult orc.

The effect was obvious. At the very least, a few distracted kids saw it and ran over eagerly, practically saying on their faces, "Coach, you're amazing, I want to learn from you."

CatDodo: "..." lol, is she missing anime because she hasn't watched it in a long time and is just imagining things?

"Thank you for your hard work, Gal. Could you please break these into smaller pieces for me so I can boil the salt?" CatDodo rolled up his sleeves and began heating the stone pot, adding the broken salt stones.

Several snake cubs were responsible for helping to add firewood and control the fire. There were three of them, and their division of labor and cooperation were quite smooth. They were responsible for replenishing firewood at any time and place.

With such orderly cooperation, fireworks continued to rise from the CatDodos's house. The fires, lit outside of mealtimes, attracted many of the beastmen in the village.

Thinking something was amiss, they came over, only to find the behavior of Maoduoduo's family quite strange.

The main reason is that everyone saw CatDodo boiling salt and assumed the beast had lost its mind. Because of CatDodo's previous merit in escaping the river, everyone gave it some face and didn't say it directly.

But Hu Feng'er was different.

She raised an eyebrow, saw what Mao Duoduo was doing, and immediately laughed.

Today, the sarcasm is equally blunt: "Are you bored? Why are you messing around with these stupid stones? It's hilarious, you've got more firewood than anything else."

She narrowed her eyes slightly, her gaze lingering on the snake cubs for a few seconds, seemingly unintentionally. These little devils did indeed have some value. It was just a pity she couldn't extract their gallbladders.

The snake cubs reacted quickly, instinctively hiding behind CatDodo, practically begging for protection from their mother.

CatDodo's face darkened, and she said coldly, "If you don't like it, then get out of here."

"You—" Hu Feng'er got a bit angry after being told that by Mao Duoduo.

She counted on her fingers, as if trying to say something. But then, Gal came over again, carrying a new salt stone.

It was obvious that the matter of Maoduo asking him to help break the salt stone had a certain impact on him, which is why he chose to carry back two snake cubs that were about the same size this time.

Now, Hu Feng'er caught a glimpse of Jia'er and, remembering what her mother had said, sneered, "I thought you, Mao Duoduo, had something going on. So that's it. You've got a male at home who only knows how to eat and drink. Hahaha."

She covered her mouth and smiled, while those who were on good terms with her and needed to curry favor with her all mocked her from the side.

The main reason is that for many males, being told they are kept by a female is extremely shameful. Many males, when pursuing females, will try their best to demonstrate their abilities; only the strongest male can win over a superior female.

It was obvious that Gal was angry.

This was the first time CatDodo had ever seen Gal's face darken. In the past, she had thought that this guy was so good-natured that he didn't care about anything.

Damn it, Hu Feng'er is really going too far.

For some reason, Maoduo instinctively preemptively wrote a sentence, directly mocking Hu Feng'er: "I think you're mentally unstable, that's why you're talking badly about people everywhere. What, do you want to be punished?"

"Do you want to die?" Hu Feng'er got angry. The last time she was punished, her mother made her brother help her with chores, which had already upset her brother and sister-in-law.

Those days were quite frustrating, and when Mao Duoduo said those words, Hu Feng'er stepped forward to fight with Mao Duoduo.

Cat Duoduo was not one to be trifled with. She took the wooden stick she used to stir the salt and performed a Shaolin staff technique, smashing it heavily towards Hu Feng'er.

Her movements were so ruthless and swift that the surrounding orcs didn't even have time to react.
