Chapter 54 I'm sorry, I saved this demon.

Even if someone is identified as a mutant while mixed in with Donovan's group, they will be classified as mutants and allowed to pass. Bletchta and Cheng Cheng entered the Mix base without incident, smoothly riding the central lighthouse elevator as it gradually ascended, watching the base below grow smaller and smaller, until it stopped at a floor inside the lighthouse.

After the other soldiers stepped out first, Bryta and Cheng Cheng followed. Fortunately, Cheng Cheng was a frequent visitor to the lighthouse, so they weren't too flustered.

Cheng Cheng pressed down another level. After the two of them carefully went out, the entire hall was magnificent and resplendent, with classical musicians playing together in a corner of the stage.

Clearly, there's a dinner party at the Lighthouse tonight. Therefore, Klindall and Xiang You will definitely be there.

Bryta and Cheng Cheng exchanged a glance, secretly located their target, knocked him unconscious, dragged him away, and changed his clothes.

As Bretta emerged, he awkwardly adjusted his bow tie. He wore a black tuxedo that accentuated his handsome features and blond hair, giving him an upright and elegant posture. Bretta observed the men passing by, straightened his back, slightly raised his chin, and imitated their movements a couple of times, instantly elevating his own presence.

A waiter approached with a tray of drinks and nodded to him. Bretta, mimicking the waiter, took a glass of wine, forcing a slightly awkward smile, and said, "Thank you."

He lowered his head to drink, trying to hide his unease, when he suddenly sensed a commotion ahead. Cheng Cheng, having barely managed to pull himself out of a slightly tight outfit, saw him and reached out to pull him back, asking, "Look at what I'm wearing..."

Before he could finish speaking, his hand missed its mark. Bretta had already moved forward, following the commotion.

Bretta sensed that familiar presence. He looked up anxiously and nervously, and through the bustling guests, he saw the man in a well-tailored black suit. Klindall rarely dressed so impeccably. His eyes were cold and stern, his thin lips were slightly pursed, and his hair was swept to one side. When he walked out, his aura was imposing, and the people around him unconsciously fell silent.

Following behind him was Xiang You, dressed in a white tailcoat, looking extremely handsome. He had only taken a few steps when his noble air was already revealed from the angle of the upturn of his mouth.

Bryta wanted to go over, but was afraid it wouldn't be appropriate. Cheng Cheng, who was behind her, stepped forward, looked at their clothes, then at his own, and felt envious.

"What do we do now?" Bleta, who had never dealt with human social situations before, was a little nervous and asked in a low voice.

Cheng Cheng thought for a moment and said in a low voice, "This is the colonel's first public appearance since the news of his resurrection. There must be a lot of people watching him. We can't rush up to him rashly. Let's wait until the opening dance starts and then make contact amidst the chaos."

Bleta only half understood: "...Then now?"

Cheng Cheng casually picked up a plate, took a big bite of meat, and mumbled, "Of course, I need to fill my stomach first."

Upon hearing this, Bletta looked down at the table laden with food at the dinner party, her eyes lit up, and she nodded repeatedly: "You're right!"

Klindall felt a strong sense of familiarity upon entering the banquet. He spoke calmly with the dignitaries who came to chat with him, his ears twitching slightly as he sensed the commotion at the banquet. After exchanging a few words, he picked up the red wine beside him and, in the instant he lowered his eyes to drink, instinctively raised an eyebrow. In that instant, he saw a blond boy enjoying his meal at a buffet table in the distance.

And... that guy Cheng Cheng next to him.

“Xiang You,” he said in a low voice to the person beside him, his gaze unwavering, “Cheng Cheng and Bryta have come in. Go and make contact with Cheng Cheng, and don’t let him do anything rash.”

Xiang You raised an eyebrow, followed his gaze, lowered his head to drink, and subtly and accurately located his target, saying, "I didn't expect them to arrive so quickly. Well... Tata is yours."

He chuckled softly, then turned and walked over with the wine in his hand.

Klindall and the others had almost reached Yu's side when they walked over with steady and calm steps. Those around them who wanted to talk to him avoided him because of his unapproachable expression.

Bretta was enjoying his meal when he suddenly smelled a familiar and tempting aroma. Before he could turn around, he heard a deep, magnetic voice call out to him from behind: "Tata."

Bretta froze, slowly turning her head with food in her mouth. When she saw Klindall meet her warm, dark eyes, she instinctively and hastily swallowed the food, then awkwardly and guiltily hid it on the table behind her. She looked up, unable to hide her joy, but stammered, "Colonel Klindall..."

"What are you doing here?" Klindall looked at him, knowing the answer already. He reached for a napkin on the table, naturally took his hand, and carefully wiped his fingers clean of food. He leaned down slightly and chuckled in his ear, "You sneaked in just for this little bit of food? Hmm?"

Britta blushed with embarrassment. He felt a lot of eyes on him and bit his lip, whispering, "I came to see you."

“Oh, it’s for me.” Klindall said, straightening up and placing his napkin on the table.

Fearing he might discover something, Bleta quickly stopped the mind-reading between their bloodlines and nodded guiltily, "...Mhm."

After half a month apart, Klindall received a secret message from the signal tower soon after he left the Asia Alliance base. From initial relief to worry, and then as time went on, this longing grew stronger and more intense in his heart, as he waited quietly night after night.

He curled his lips into a smile, his eyes, which had been cold and aloof since he appeared at the banquet, now held a faint hint of amusement, stunning many people nearby who had been secretly observing this alien colonel.

Klindall looked down slightly and noticed that he seemed to have grown quite a bit taller. The suit he was wearing today wasn't a perfect fit, but it suited him just right. He didn't hold back his praise: "Not bad."

Just then, there seemed to be a considerable commotion at the entrance to the banquet. Sensing something, Bretta instinctively took a step forward, standing in front of Klindall, ready for anything.

Klindall paused, a small thrill rising within him at the sight of this gesture. He suppressed a smile and looked up into the distance. As the crowd parted, he caught sight of a blond, brown-eyed man in a dark gray suit with a shawl draped over his shoulders. Klindall's pupils dilated, his expression turning grim.

"Count Donovan Klein!" someone exclaimed in surprise.

"He's still alive!"

"Could he also do that..." someone speculated, and the others immediately whispered among themselves.

More often than not, he observed from a distance, discerning the tense and hostile relationship between Colonel Klindall and himself, without being implicated.

Most of the dignitaries from other bases were also present, with Colonel Klindall taking the stage as a prominent figure to deliver a speech. His generous pronouncements on mutually beneficial coexistence between mutants and humans, joint research into vaccines to combat infection, and turning a passive situation into an active one, coupled with his considerable charisma, garnered applause. Representatives from the Federation and the Empire also spoke on their respective viewpoints. This was also the purpose of the pre-conference dinner at the Beacon Conference—to promote friendly consultations.

The atmosphere was very harmonious for a time.

After Klindall came down, he stood next to Bryta.

Donovan met the two men from a distance, and finally his gaze fell on Bryta's face. His originally indifferent eyes suddenly flashed with a mixture of emotions, which then disappeared in an instant.

Suddenly, Klindall reached out and blocked the view of the still somewhat dazed Bryta from behind, then turned him around.

Bryta hadn't reacted yet.

Klindall had already put his arm around his waist, and said casually, "Dance with me to open the show."

Bretta was dumbfounded and stammered, "I...I don't know how!"

Klindall led him directly to the dance floor, where a melodious and lively waltz began at just the right moment.

Several couples stepped onto the dance floor. In this era of scarce female resources, it is not surprising that there are already quite a few male couples.

Britta really couldn't dance. He was clumsy and awkward at first, and stepped on Klindall's shoes several times. Fortunately, Klindall was gentlemanly and patient enough to guide him in a low voice, letting him learn by following his steps.

Bleta was clever enough; after being taught once, she quickly learned and imitated the steps of others by secretly observing them, and soon she was doing a good job, dancing with increasing enthusiasm and joy.

This was the first time he had truly enjoyed human music and dance, and it was taught to him by his favorite, Klindall. Bretta enjoyed the feeling, and a childlike, joyful, and delighted smile involuntarily spread across his face.

"Do you like it?" Klindall asked, looking down at him.

"I love it!" Britta really loved it. If being human meant experiencing all sorts of wonderful things with Mr. Klindall, then he could accept all the other difficulties.

"I love anything you do with me," Bryta said, his eyes sparkling, a sweet nothing he himself didn't realize.

Klindall paused for a moment, then chuckled softly, and as he danced in the center of the dance floor, he thought to himself: Me too.

Tata, as long as I can protect you, I'd be willing to be a monster for the rest of my life.

Hearing this thought, Britta was taken aback, and suddenly looked up to meet Klindall's deep, calm black eyes, which were as dark as an abyss.

His heart started pounding, faster and faster...

Donovan stared at the two people in the center of the dance floor, his eyes dark and his lips curling into a gloomy smile, before suddenly reaching for his chest.

What humanity has never needed is compromise and coexistence, but rather—evolution.

Only by completely abandoning inferior genes can we truly regain control of the world's food chain.

Bretta seemed to have heard those two sentences, and looked up in confusion, searching for the source of the sound.

...Ha. If these so-called alien races completely spiral out of control, will anyone still believe in peaceful coexistence?

Upon hearing this, a sense of foreboding flashed through Bryta's mind. He had just seen Donovan reach out towards something in their direction, and in a moment of terror, he instinctively turned and threw himself in front of Klindall, shielding him from view.

"careful-- !"

Klingdale paused, then quickly realized what was happening and pressed the communicator on his earlobe: "Everyone! Full alert!"

After throwing himself on top of Klindall, Britta instinctively closed his eyes and waited two seconds for a response. He quickly turned around and saw a red button the size of a fingernail in Donovan's hand.

Donovan gave him a meaningful look and pressed his thumb down—

A deafening roar erupted, causing an uncontrollable tremor beneath our feet. Then, a sharp, long siren blared from the sound system covering the entire Mix base above the lighthouse, its sound waves piercing and eerie.

Klingdale suddenly sensed something was wrong and instinctively clenched his fist. Everyone present quickly went on alert, and guards rushed in to protect their respective important military and political figures.

Bryta had a vague sense of familiarity.

The next second, many of the guests who had been so elegantly dressed just moments before suddenly clutched their heads and screamed in agony. Then, without warning, their faces contorted, their limbs deformed, and various chelicerae suddenly sprouted to cover their eyes. Terrified screams and gunshots rang out almost simultaneously. The magnificent chandelier on the ceiling was shattered by the rapidly expanding alien creature, exploding into a fragment that flickered with an unpredictable light.

Klindall was the first to react, drawing his gun and shooting the nearest alien. The bullet, specially made by Bretta, flew out and instantly pierced the alien's body, beginning to corrode rapidly, emitting sizzling and roaring sounds.

Klindall was taken aback, but quickly recovered. Just as he was about to reach out and grab Blaita to protect him, Blaita conjured two sharp, double-edged daggers in his hands and swiftly stabbed the attacking alien in the throat.

Klindall had never seen Bryta like this before. He paused for a moment, then raised an eyebrow: "Not bad."

He quickly contacted You Chengcheng and issued orders to escort all non-mutated personnel to safety for an emergency evacuation.

Cheng Cheng's voice came through: "Colonel! The elevator entrance has been destroyed by the aliens!"

Upon hearing this, Klindall raised his head and looked at Donovan, who stood there as if his surroundings were irrelevant to him. He said coldly, "Use Plan B. Take everyone to the lighthouse and leave by plane."

Cheng Cheng's anxious voice came through: "Okay! We'll meet up up there! You and Tata, come quickly!"

Klindall agreed, quickly firing to eliminate the alien next to Bretta, then grabbed his shoulder and said, "Take the emergency stairs and get out. Also, could that thing you're holding grow any longer?"

Bretta was taken aback, and subconsciously transformed one of the weapons in her hand into a long sword that was nearly 1.5 meters long, with a cold, gleaming blade.

“Let’s switch.” Klindall shoved the gun into his hand, then suddenly reached for the longsword, stabbed it into the abdomen of a mutant with his backhand, and kissed his lips at the same time, murmuring in the gap, “Tata, go up first, I’ll be right behind you.”

Before Bretta could react, he was shoved toward the stairwell. The moment he turned and gripped his longsword, his black hair grew rapidly, turning as black as ink. A snake tail several meters long appeared beneath him in an instant, wrapping around Bretta's waist and carrying him up the stairs, turning upwards!

In that instant, Bretta saw Donovan in the horde suddenly tilt his head back, his entire body becoming so strong that his clothes burst open, his height increasing to nearly three meters, and golden-brown fur sprouting from his body. The once gentlemanly and elegant man had transformed in that instant into a humanoid beast, resembling a cat but not quite.

But Bleta felt an instinctive fear. What was that?

However, in the next instant, he was completely flung by the snake's tail onto the rooftop at the very top of the lighthouse.

Then the snake's tail quickly retreated.

Upon landing, Bretta felt a sense of dread. Donovin had also mutated, and he had even obtained her blood? Where did it come from? Moreover, he had become incredibly strong, so strong that it frightened her—was it a foreign substance?!

"...What kind of mutant has he turned into?" he murmured, still in shock.

An arrow suddenly shot towards the alien creature attacking from behind him, and a sound that hadn't been heard for a long time came.

"It's a meerkat. It happens to be a natural enemy of snakes and rats."

After Chu Hui sheathed his arrows, he stood not far from the lighthouse rooftop, the wind whipping around him.

His expression turned slightly grave as he looked at Bretta and said sorrowfully, "...Bretta, I'm sorry, I saved this demon. I never expected him to..."

Bretta instinctively sensed something, stood up, and looked down at the entire base beneath the lighthouse. Almost half of the humans had been mutated by the alien hormones induced by that strange channel. As far as the eye could see, dense crowds were being torn apart and devoured amidst screams and chases, mutating and joining the fray once more...

As Bleta gazed at the hellish scene, his heart sank.
