While her mother was talking to her best friend about their weekend get-together, Qiuyue couldn't get a word in edgewise. She reached for the Sherlock Holmes book on her mother's table, then looked at her mother and asked:
"Mom, how many times have you read this book? Are you still reading it?"
Jiang Yuping turned to look at her daughter.
"Autumn Moon, read a book a hundred times and its meaning will become clear. You should read more books when you have time. Throughout history, scholars have always been superior to others."
Autumn Moon laughed:
"Mom, what kind of book are you reading? It's a detective novel, how can it match up?"
As for Qiuyue, the feeling of worry for her mother that she had just felt seemed to have completely disappeared.
She looked at her mother again and felt that no matter how she looked at her, her mother could not possibly be the murderer who killed the barber.
Three women make a drama; while chatting, the alarm clock on the wall seems to go by quickly, and before you know it, it's time to get off work.
Qiuyue, her mother, and Wei Hong, the three women, walked out of the infirmary together, got on their bicycles, and returned to the dormitory area.
When Jiang Yuping arrived home, she found Qiu Shui kneading dough at the dining table by herself.
Her eyes were as clear as autumn water, and her nose, forehead, and even her hair were all covered with specks of white powder.
Jiang Yuping naturally knew what was going on, and tears almost welled up in her eyes.
Because this was the first time that seventeen-year-old Qiushui had kneaded dough at home.
When Qiuyue saw the white flour stuck all over her sister's forehead and nose, and then looked at the large basin of flour in the bowl, she burst out laughing.
At this moment, Jiang Yuping also noticed the unusually large amount of flour in the basin and asked in surprise:
"Qiushui, how much dough did you knead?"
Qiu Yue blushed and smiled shyly.
"Mom, I'm sorry, we almost finished half a bag of flour, hehe."
Before anyone could respond, she continued to explain:
"Mom, it's like this. At first, I didn't put in much flour, but when I added water, I added too much, and the dough became very runny."
"So I added flour, but then there was too much dough and I couldn't knead it properly, so I added water. But then I accidentally added too much water and had to add more flour again."
"And so, the dough got too thick, so I added water; there was too much water, so I added flour; I kept kneading and adding until I unknowingly had kneaded a whole basin of dough."
"I'm so sorry, Mom. Your daughter is really useless. It's my first time kneading dough, and I've made such a disgraceful mess of it."
As Qiu Shui spoke, she stuck out her tongue at her mother and older sister Qiu Yue with a mischievous expression.
Jiang Yuping was both amused and exasperated upon hearing this, but also pleased with her daughter's logic and expressive ability.
She naturally didn't blame her daughter; instead, she smiled and encouraged her.
"Qiushui, you will all grow up eventually and get married one day. Mom can't stay by your side forever. It's important to learn to knead dough and live on your own. Life is sometimes like kneading dough; you need to mix water and flour. No one can succeed on the first try."
Qiuyue was deeply moved by her mother's encouragement.
She didn't expect that her mother would not only not scold her for kneading half a bag of flour due to her lack of skill, but would also encourage her.
"Mom, thank you. I want to learn how to knead dough to help lighten your housework load a bit, because I love you, Mom!"
Qiu Yue's words were somewhat sentimental, which brought tears to Jiang Yuping's eyes.
She stepped forward and hugged Qiuyue tightly, almost choking back tears as she said:
"Qiuyue, well done, my good daughter, I love you too! I'm relieved that you're like this. Even if I'm not by your side in the future, you can still live on, live bravely--."
Qiuyue and Qiuyue, unable to understand the meaning behind their mother's words, came up together and hugged her.
Qiuyue spoke:
“Mom, Qiushui and I are all grown up now. We’ll come home from now on and help you with some things. You and Dad have worked so hard all these years.”
As Jiang Yuping listened, she was naturally moved and felt that her two daughters had suddenly grown up.
When Qiu Jingwen entered the house, he was startled to see his two daughters and wife Jiang Yuping embracing each other.
He didn't know what had happened?
This was the first time he had ever seen such a scene.
Moreover, seeing his wife Jiang Yuping with tears streaming down her face, he asked in alarm:
"Yu Ping, what are you three doing? You didn't tell Qiu Yue and Qiu Shui the whole truth, did you?"
