Chapter 81 Uncontrollable Life

For Qiu Jingwen, the scene of his wife and two daughters embracing each other in tears was somewhat unexpected.

His first thought was whether his wife had told their two daughters about her murder of Liu Han.

Sometimes, a person in a state of tension, anxiety, and fear can easily be misled by appearances.

Despite Qiu Jingwen's calm and composed demeanor in the workshop and even when he was face-to-face with Shao Jian in the canteen at noon, it was only a facade. In his heart, he was constantly anxious and fearful.

Upon seeing their father return home, Qiuyue, Qiushui, and Jiang Yuping naturally separated from their embrace.

Qiu Yue, who was the first to react, frowned as she looked at Qiu Jingwen.

"Dad, what did you just say? What's the truth?"

Qiu Jingwen realized he had let something slip, so he looked at Jiang Yuping, hoping his wife could smooth things over for him.

Jiang Yuping and Qiu Jingwen were indeed of one mind; looking at Qiu Yue, she quickly explained:

"Qiuyue, this is a secret between your father and me."

The word "secret" has a natural ability to distract people.

Upon hearing the secret, Qiuyue and Qiuyue asked in unison:

"Mom, what secrets do you and Dad have?"

Jiang Yuping immediately waved her hand, refusing to answer.

"Go away, go away, this is an adult matter, children shouldn't get involved. Hurry up and make dinner."

As she spoke, she looked at the large bowl of noodles that Qiu Shuihe had made, and then turned to look at Qiu Jingwen.

"Dad, this is the dough your precious daughter Qiushui made. What do you think? Hasn't she grown up and become very capable?"

She needs to distract herself.

Otherwise, how would you respond if your two clever daughters pressed for the truth?

Although the daughters may find out the truth in the future

They will find out that the father they have always admired was a Kuomintang secret agent who had been hiding for many years!

Who would have thought that their mother, a gentle and kind female doctor, was actually the murderer who killed the barber!

However, let the children face and bear such things when they happen; we can't tell them the truth now.

Otherwise, from this moment on, the children will be plunged into an abyss of pain and fear.

Qiu Jingwen naturally understood his wife's meaning, glanced at the basin, and feigned surprise:

"Qiuyue, you kneaded so much dough? How many pancakes are you planning to make?"

Qiu Yue felt embarrassed and explained her theory on the ratio of water to dough to Qiu Jingwen.

"So, if there's too much water, add flour; if there's too much flour, add water. That's how I made almost a whole basin of dough, haha."

Qiu Shui seemed certain that her father wouldn't blame her, because Qiu Jingwen had always been a good father in her heart. He had never been a murderer to her. That time he was mean to her younger brother Qiu Shou and even slapped him, they could understand why their father hadn't let them go downstairs to play when the barber was murdered came out.

Like his wife Jiang Yuping, Qiu Jingwen did not scold his daughter after hearing her explanation. Instead, he praised her for helping adults.

"Qiuyue, you've grown up. Dad is very relieved."

After praising his daughter, Qiu Jingwen carried his work bag back to his bedroom.

The wife usually cooks dinner at home, unless she goes on a business trip, such as to study or do other work in another city. In those cases, Qiu Jingwen will learn to cook. When his wife is at home, Jiang Yuping doesn't let him help.

Next, Qiuyue helped her mother, and the two of them made dinner together, while Qiushui washed her hands and face and left the restaurant.

Because Qiuyue kneaded too much dough, the baking time for the pancakes was relatively long, and the finished pancakes were placed in a round sieve.

Around seven o'clock, Qiu Shou and Qiu Chan returned home, with Qiu Shou's forehead covered in sweat.

He wiped the sweat from his forehead while looking at Jiang Yuping.

"Mom, where's Dad?"

"Your dad is in his bedroom, or he can smoke on the balcony."

After hearing about the autumn harvest, he hurriedly went into his father's bedroom.

Qiu Chan blinked, staring at the pancakes piled in the sieve with a surprised expression.

"Mom, are we having guests tonight?"

Jiang Yuping didn't understand what her daughter meant, and looked up at Qiu Chan.

"No, what's wrong?"

Qiu Chan still looked surprised.

"With no customers, why are you making so many pancakes? Will we have to eat them for days?"

While making pancakes, Jiang Yuping explained to Qiu Chan about Qiu Yue kneading the dough.

“Qiu Chan, this is your sister’s first time kneading dough, so she has no experience. You are all growing up and will have to learn to do many things in the future. Mom can’t always be with you.”

As Jiang Yuping spoke, her heart ached, and tears almost welled up in her eyes.

Because she understood that fire cannot be contained in the end.

Sooner or later, Shao Jian and his group would find out that he had murdered Liu Han.

Even though she felt she had done something flawlessly at the time, she already had a feeling that Shao Jian must have a lot of evidence, and that the evidence was pointing to her.

Qiu Chan was only fifteen years old; how could she understand the meaning behind her mother's words?

She washed her hands first, then took a piece of cake from the sieve and said to Jiang Yuping:

"Mom, I'm hungry, can I have a piece first?"

Jiang Yuping looked up at the cicadas in autumn.

"Of course you can. The cakes are meant to be eaten once they're made. Take one for your little brother too."

"Mom, Mom is so good, she's the best mom in the world!"

As Qiu Chan spoke, she reached out and took another piece, munching on the fragrant pancake as she left the kitchen.

At that moment, Qiu Shou pushed open the bedroom door and saw his father standing on the balcony smoking, so he did not approach.

Looking at his father's back, he could almost sense that his father was different from before.
