Chapter 85 Cognitive Biases

When Qiu Yang asked her, Qiu Yue told her brother about some of her parents' unusual behavior.

Autumn Sun naturally understands everything.

The night gradually deepened.

Qiu Yang looked at his younger sister.

"Qiuyue, it's getting late. You should hurry home so your parents won't worry about you."

Looking at her brother's handsome face under the starlight, Qiuyue said with a touch of heartache:

"Brother, what about you?"

"I want to stay by the Huai River a little longer."

"Brother, Su Xiaowei has been worried about you. It's obvious that she likes you a lot."

"But, Qiuyue, do you know that once Dad's identity as a spy and murderer is discovered, I, and you, may lose our jobs or be fired. At that time, there will be no possibility between Xiaowei and me."

“But Dad is Dad, and we are us. Besides, Dad hasn’t done anything bad all these years. What kind of spy or enemy agent is he? He has also made contributions to the Hongqi Factory. The Hongqi Factory wouldn’t be so heartless, would it? Furthermore, if Sister Xiaowei really loves you, she wouldn’t break up with you because of Dad, would she?”

Qiuyue was only nineteen years old after all, and she was just thinking about things according to her own logic and reasoning.

Qiu Yang shook his head and sighed at his younger sister.

“Qiuyue, you’re still young. Things aren’t that simple. If the police find out about Dad’s espionage and murder, Dad will be a reactionary. Think about it, if a reactionary father is involved, won’t the Hongqi Factory fire his children, or even Mom’s doctor job? Besides, it won’t be up to the Hongqi Factory to decide; it will be up to the police. How can Xiaowei not have her own thoughts? Will her parents approve of our relationship?”

Qiuyue fell silent.

She knew her brother's analysis made sense.

At nineteen, she had seen black elements being paraded through the streets wearing tall hats in previous years, and had even witnessed a reactionary being shot by police officers at the execution ground.

Thinking of this, Qiuyue shuddered.

The image of my father being bound hand and foot and dragged to the execution ground even appeared in my mind.

"No, no, no, that's not true. Dad is a spy, but not a bad one."

The autumn moon spoke to itself.

Seeing that the night had completely fallen, Qiu Yang was worried about his younger sister's safety on her way home, so he got up.

"Qiuyue, let's go home. I'm going back to my dorm too."

As he spoke, he helped Qiuyue put her bicycle on the bike.

The brother and sister returned to the factory area together. As they parted, Qiuyang whispered instructions to his sister:

“Qiuyue, remember what I told you. Pretend you don’t know anything. Your parents are already under enough pressure and anxiety. We can’t let them worry about us anymore.”

Qiuyue nodded in agreement with her brother, then got on her bicycle and silently rode away.

Upon returning home, Jiang Yuping came out of her bedroom after hearing the door open.

She looked at her daughter and asked:

"Qiuyue, you went out and came back so late?"

Qiuyue smiled at her mother, acting as if nothing had happened.

"Mom, I'm going to date Liang Guoping, is that not allowed?"

Jiang Yuping looked at her daughter's red eyes and exclaimed in surprise:

"Qiuyue, why are you crying? Did Liang Guoping bully you?"
