Chasing Dreams
The next day, preparations for director Jiang Ningjing's new film had reached a critical stage.
She was so impressed by Jin Cang's audition and praised him highly that she arranged a meeting today. Xiang Yang specially accompanied Jin Cang to the film production company to meet with Ni Chaofan, the most important investor behind the scenes. This meeting was of great significance and importance to Jin Cang.
Xiangyang arrived a little earlier than the agreed time. He did not go upstairs immediately, but waited at the door downstairs of the production company.
In the afternoon, the sun shines brightly in Taipei's Neihu Science Park, adorning the new, high-end office buildings. With few pedestrians in the area, the surroundings appear exceptionally peaceful.
In the distance, Mai Dong's old but still loyal and hardworking used motorcycle, carrying the tall figure of Jin Cang, was gradually approaching.
Jin Cang stepped off the motorcycle and quickly took off his helmet. Beads of sweat were oozing from his forehead and nose. His whole body was steaming, but he looked calm.
Xiangyang hurried forward, with familiar movements and a concerned look, he took out a handkerchief from his trouser pocket and wiped the sweat from his forehead neatly.
"No rush, there's still time." He said with a smile, soothing Ah Cang's emotions, "Look at you, you're sweating all over, going to meet your sponsor like this? Come, let me help you tidy up first."
Jin Cang smoothed his hair, which had been flattened by the helmet. The sweat-soaked hair stuck to his forehead. He asked sheepishly, "'Taozhuang'? What does that mean?"
Xiangyang thought for a moment, then smiled: "This word... well, it probably means... dress up."
"Dress up?" Jin Cang tilted his head.
"Well, it's more formal than dressing up." Xiangyang took a step back and looked at Jin Cang carefully.
The boy was wearing a cleanly starched white shirt tucked neatly into his jeans. He looked fresh, yet also had a bit of student-like restraint.
"Just pull your shirt out and tuck the bottom in."
Xiang Yang suggested, and then seemed to remember something, "Wait for me, I'll be back soon."
While Xiangyang was talking, he turned around and rushed across the street, running quickly towards a "Watson's" with a conspicuous sign not far away.
"Eh? Should we put it on the left or the right?" Jin Cang asked loudly to Xiangyang across the street.
"Follow...to the right!" Xiangyang's voice came from afar, and the man had already entered the store.
Upon hearing this, Jin Cang obediently used the mirror-like wall of the building as a temporary dressing mirror. He clumsily pulled the hem of his shirt out of his waistband and gestured, trying to tuck a corner into the right side of his pants... He had seen this style of dressing in Korean dramas, but he was really not familiar with it.
Maidong, who was standing by, was silently packing up his safety helmet. For a moment, he was unable to get a word in and could only watch Jin Cang frantically "correcting" himself.
Not long after, Xiangyang came back quickly carrying a plastic bag.
The "Watsons" logo was printed on the bag. Seeing him come back, Jin Cang quickly spread out his hands and showed the shirt he had just sorted out: "Is this okay?"
Xiangyang first handed the plastic bag in his hand to Maidong beside him, then walked towards Jin Cang with a focused look.
He didn't answer immediately. He stretched out his hand and naturally rolled up the sleeves of Jin's pale shirt, revealing the boy's strong and well-proportioned forearms.
Then, he took off the elegant pair of gold-rimmed glasses on his nose and gently put them on Jin Cang.
"The sleeves look more lively like this..."
Xiang Yang adjusted the position of his glasses and said, "These glasses don't have prescriptions. Try them on." He stepped back and looked at the refreshed Jin Cang with satisfaction. "Well, they're pretty good."
Jin Cang looked at Xiang Yang through the lenses and smiled shyly, "Really?"
The eyes behind the lenses, because of this sudden decoration, have lost some of their usual honesty that can be seen through at a glance, and have gained some of the bookish, self-disciplined and introverted temperament.
Xiangyang smiled back, took the plastic bag from Maidong, and deftly took out the freshly bought BB cream and a small can of hairspray.
He first squeezed out some milky white makeup cream onto his fingertips, then skillfully tapped it on Jin Cang's forehead, nose bridge, cheeks and chin, and then spread it evenly.
"Baoyan cream, conceals blemishes, brightens, and moisturizes, all in one go." His fingers, with a slightly cool touch, wandered over Jin Cang's face, bringing a wonderful feeling.
Then, he unscrewed the cap of the hair gel bottle, took some transparent gel and rubbed it on his palm, then reached out to Jin Cang's hair, and in a few seconds he created a handsome and stylish hairstyle.
"Hair... done! Done!" Xiangyang clapped his hands, his face showing undisguised admiration. "Let's go! Go up and captivate everyone and make them completely crazy."
Jin Cang looked at Xiangyang, his eyes full of pure trust and dependence, it was an unreserved delivery.
At this moment, Xiangyang seemed omnipotent in his eyes.
Maidong, who had been standing silently nearby, watched the scene unfold before him, his expression shifting several times. He took the remaining balm and hairspray from Xiangyang, mustered his courage, and tentatively asked, "Brother Xiang, can I...can I come up with you?"
Xiangyang turned his head upon hearing the voice, and seemed to have just remembered Maidong's existence. He thought for a moment and said, "Are you... Xiaomai?"
"Maidong!" Maidong's voice rose slightly, with a clearly identifiable sense of urgency.
Xiang Yang's attitude was always sincere and gentle. "Mai Dong, listen to me. This is what I'm saying. Today, Teacher Ni and Director Jiang have an appointment with the investors to meet with Jin Cang. The occasion is quite special and the nature is a bit different. Can you come with us next time when there's a more relaxed gathering?"
The anticipation on Maidong's face quickly dimmed, and he stammered, "Then I..."
Before he could finish his words, a message alert sounded from the phone in Xiangyang's pocket.
He glanced down and then said to Jin Cang, "Cang, we're being urged. Let's go upstairs."
Jin Cang nodded and turned to Mai Dong, "Thank you for bringing me here. You can go back first. You don't have to wait for me."
Xiang Yang naturally reached out his hand, took Jin Cang's wrist, and pulled him to run quickly towards the door of the building. The two figures quickly disappeared in the elevator.
I will help you realize your dreams, because they are all within my ability.
To Xiang Yang, the arrangements he made for Jin Cang and the care he showed in making them seemed so natural.
For Ah Cang, who was young and inexperienced, he responded to sincerity with sincerity, but he also realized that these arrangements were not easily available to everyone. He was so lucky that he cherished them and gave his all.
The relationship between Xiangyang and Jin Cang has changed. The importance of each other in each other's hearts is pushed forward in a natural rhythm and melody by these events that happen one after another.
However, in the eyes of Maidong, who could only watch from afar, it was a different feeling.
Maidong stood there alone, looking in the direction they disappeared, still holding the bag of BB cream and hairspray in his hands.
The sun was still shining brightly, but he felt it was a little dazzling.
The image of them holding hands from behind lingered in his mind, the expressions on their faces fluctuated, and an unpleasant feeling slowly spread in his heart.
