Sabrina lay on the ground, gazing at the distant black tower amidst the sea of fire, and murmured, "Ratchet, you must be joking with me, right?"
Rachel gripped the rocks tightly with both hands and said with a smile, "I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you. I'm not joking."
"Then tell me! How are we supposed to get over the lava?! Fly over it?!"
Rachel pressed her back tightly against the rock and moved step by step toward the cave entrance. The wind blew her long hair wildly, and the heat scorched her skin, but without a trace of fear on her face, she turned to Sabrina and said, "No matter when or where, there will always be a way forward, as long as you are brave enough to take the first step."
Watching Rachel slowly walk out of the cave, Sabrina first looked back, then gritted her teeth, stood up, and walked step by step towards the cave entrance against the strong wind.
Once outside the cave, Sabrina realized what the path Rachel had mentioned was all about.
Outside the cave entrance, a winding path leads along the rock wall into the distance.
Stepping onto the platform, the loose rocks beneath her feet and the gushing spring made Sabrina extremely cautious as she carefully made her way forward.
This was a perilous, long, and arduous journey. In all her years, Sabrina had never before stepped into such a harsh environment.
If it weren't for the woman ahead of her, guiding and encouraging her, Sabrina might have turned back long ago.
We walked forward for about an hour, and the black tower in the distance grew taller and taller in our view.
Sabrina, who was using the girl's body, was already exhausted. Looking at the breathtakingly magnificent building in front of her, she asked breathlessly, "What is that?"
Rachel brushed a stray hair behind her ear and said softly, "The Beacon Tower, the abode of the absolute will."
"Absolute will? What is that?"
"According to the records of the Elders, the Absolute Will is the beginning of all things and the origin of the universe. It takes different forms in the eyes of different people."
Sabrina looked at the tower that Rachel had mentioned and asked incredulously, "You mean the Elders chose this location because of this tower? Then what exactly are they planning to do there?"
"According to legend, absolute will can transform an ordinary person into a god in the world."
Sabrina laughed: "Is that even possible?"
Seeing Rachel's serious expression, Sabrina's eyes widened: "Are you serious?"
"That's right. Descriptions of the Black Tower and the Absolute Will can be found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Rune Tablets of the gods, and the chants of the ancient gods. However, due to the deliberate concealment by believers, these records are either vague or have been completely erased."
Sabrina thought about it carefully: "You said before that Iliad was doing something in secret. Could it be that he wants to use this power to become a god?"
Rachel moved her feet, continuing towards the beacon tower, and said, "You'll have to discover everything for yourself, but I can tell you that you'll soon realize that the truth may be more terrifying than you imagine."
Filled with doubt, Sabrina followed behind Rachel, continuing to walk towards their goal step by step.
Soon, the two arrived at the cliff below the giant tower.
Rachel gestured to Sabrina to walk quietly and not make any noise.
The two climbed up a narrow opening in the rock wall and followed the crevice to a spacious hall.
Fiery lava flowed down the mountainside like a waterfall, and smooth obsidian covered the entire space. A tall altar stood in the center of the hall, and on the floor below it were drawn an inverted pyramid and several unintelligible lines.
Masked servants were busy moving various experimental equipment and materials in the hall.
Their master, Elder Eliad, stood before a large machine powered by geothermal steam, carefully examining the compass on it.
Bucket after bucket of black, viscous liquid was poured into the machine, flowing through countless enormous pipes behind it, down the obsidian floor, and into the sea of lava at the far end of the hall.
What exactly are they doing?
Rachel did not answer Sabrina's question, but simply waved to her, signaling her to follow her.
The two carefully navigated around the people in the hall, stepping onto the high rock face, and climbed towards a higher point in the hall.
Using both hands and feet, Sabrina climbed the stone steps to the top of the hall. She looked down and saw that from a height of tens of meters, people looked as small as fingernails.
With a push of her feet, Sabrina tried to climb over the last step, but the rock beneath her feet shifted, and a large chunk of rock broke off from the rock face and fell straight to the ground.
Upon seeing this, Sabrina turned pale, her heart nearly leaping out of her throat.
Rachel stretched out her hands and used her "telekinesis" to firmly hold onto the falling stone, pulling it upwards little by little.
After dealing with this sudden crisis, Rachel breathed a sigh of relief, nodded to Sabrina, and continued climbing upwards.
The two arrived at the ceiling directly above the hall, a small platform covering less than 100 square meters. Looking around, there was nothing there except a man-made suspended bridge leading to the body of the black giant tower not far away.
Seeing the pale blue light flowing continuously on the giant tower, Sabrina noticed that Rachel had already stepped onto the suspended bridge and was heading towards the giant tower without hesitation.
