Inside the soul space, Todd, sitting on his throne, looked down at his palm, lost in thought.
Inside the vast council hall, all the high-ranking officials of Muxi City gathered together, quietly awaiting their king.
Todd withdrew his gaze, looked at the people in the hall, and said, "The God of Death has been destroyed. Now there is only one thing left to do."
"The apocalypse is not over, death is imminent, and everything in the world is on the verge of destruction. However, we still have a chance to protect Twilight City."
Emerson nodded vigorously and said, "Your Majesty, the people of the kingdom are there, and we cannot abandon them!"
Cumberland said, "The last bloodline of the Knights still exists there; we must save them!"
The high shamans of the Holy Crusade declared, "There are still followers of the Dragon God within the city of Muxi; we must protect our faith!"
Wayne Dunlop said, "The city still contains the works and achievements of countless predecessors and scholars. Allowing them to be destroyed will set back the entire era or even bring it to zero."
Alfonso de Caber glanced at his companions behind him and said, "That city bears the marks of all our struggles, and it is also our burial place."
Randall, holding Barbara's hand with one hand and pulling Aldenan back with the other, said, "Our brothers and sisters, our dearest loved ones, are there, waiting for help in pain and despair."
Standing beside Todd, Ivy leaned down and said slowly, "My lord, we are all ready. Just give the order."
Mary, standing on the other side of the throne, gently took Todd's hand, said nothing, and simply smiled and nodded.
Todd closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
Then, he slowly rose from his throne and addressed everyone: "For any citizen of the kingdom, Twilight City holds a special and precious significance. It is the starting point for everyone's dreams and a sacred place that we are willing to protect with our lives."
"I, Todd Fischer, hereby swear on the honor of the King that, as long as I have a breath left, I will protect all living beings in Twilight City, even if it means my own destruction!"
The soul dragon in the Supuha volcano flapped its wings and soared into the sky.
It passed through the massive crater, rose into the blood-red sky, and flew rapidly northward.
...
At the same time, in the inner city of Muxi City, at the city gate passageway.
The Crusader commander, Ackerman, covered in wounds, glanced down at the empty quiver at his feet, put down his bow, picked up a longsword from beside a soldier's corpse, and walked back to the battlefield.
Holding up his tattered shield, Huggins shouted to the Crusaders and knights around him, "Maintain the line! Don't let a single undead get past!"
The mermaid chieftain Rita, along with a group of her people, stood guard in the moat outside the inner city.
The powerful earthquake turned the original strip-shaped moat into a low-lying lake, which gave the sea tribes room to operate.
Seeing a dead dog that had fallen into the water, Rita forcefully plunged her trident into its head.
Despite the pain in her body, she looked up and shouted to the shark-men on the riverbank, "Yag! Take your men and retreat! There are too many of them!"
Covered in blood, Sharkman Chieftain Yego was in a bloodthirsty frenzy. He paid no heed to Rita's warning and hacked his way forward with his massive saw blade.
As a swarm of spider-like undead leaped onto Yego's body, tearing away chunks of his flesh, Rita cried out, "No!"
Wielding a longsword, Ackerman led the remaining Crusaders, fighting their way through the enemy lines until they reached Huggins' side and joined up with the city gate guards.
With a single stroke of his sword, Huggins severed half the head of the undead in front of him, then, panting, asked Ackerman, "How are the sisters? Did they make it to the city safely?"
Ackerman remained silent, his body trembling as he wielded his longsword like a madman, fighting with complete disregard for his life.
Huggins hesitated for a moment, then finally sighed and joined the battle.
Suddenly, an alarm bell rang out from the watchtower in the inner city. Huggins stopped what he was doing and looked into the distance.
A colossal body, tens of meters tall, was slowly moving through the city, heading towards the inner city.
"Fortress! Fortress is coming! Take cover!"
The warning had barely ended when a massive sphere of corpses was spewed from the mouth of the fortress necromancer, arcing through the sky before crashing heavily into the inner city's plaza.
Countless spider undead sprang out of the corpse sphere, instantly covering half the square.
A group of well-prepared Crusader heavy infantrymen formed a shield wall to cover the elves behind them as they cleared out the small undead in the square piece by piece.
Huggins looked at the distant fortress necromancer, who had stopped in place, a move that made Huggins nervously swallow.
The parasitic tentacles on the Necropolis Maw of the Fortress were writhing, indicating that the second wave of zombie spheres would soon arrive.
With a clear, melodious cry of a griffin, a Valkyrie leaped from the inner city tower on her mount.
The griffin was unarmored and had no protective measures. The only visible equipment was the spore bombs hanging from its wings.
The Valkyrie commanded the griffins, ignoring the flock of undead birds circling in the sky, and charged at full speed toward the undead fortress.
In a blinding flash, Hudgens ducked behind his shield, lowering his body to brace himself for the impending blast wave.
Dozens of seconds later, Huggins stood up from behind his shield, looking at the devastated battlefield before him, his eyes filled with endless sorrow.
