With bloodshot eyes, Clemens slowly put Alice down, staring intently at Goodman, and growled through gritted teeth, "It was you! You killed my daughter! You bastard!"
Goodman shrugged: "I'm a little sorry, but you saw some things you shouldn't have seen, so you have to die."
“As I said before, I am a respectable person, and my past cannot be tainted… and you are my taint.”
Clemens roared and charged forward, wanting to punch the damn bastard to the ground, but instead, Goodman kicked him to the ground.
Clutching his chest, Clemens curled up on the ground in agony, grief and anger tormenting his spirit, causing him to roar incessantly.
Goodman grinned maliciously as he walked forward, followed up with another kick, stomping heavily on Clemens's back, and said, "Professor, physical labor isn't your forte. Sitting quietly in front of the computer might suit you better."
With a rock in her hand, Liz quietly circled around behind Goodman, intending to launch a sneak attack, but was unexpectedly knocked to the ground by the latter's rifle butt, who was on guard.
Taking advantage of the moment when Goodman was distracted by Liz, Clemens, who was being trampled on the ground, suddenly sprang up.
He grabbed the former's leg and threw him to the ground, after which the two engaged in a fierce struggle.
Lys, lying on the ground, struggled to crawl toward the two fighting men, calling out Clemens's name loudly.
Gunshots suddenly rang out.
The two fighters stopped fighting at the same time.
Liz opened her eyes wide and began to pray, hoping that Lady Luck would smile upon Clemens once again.
However, Lady Luck did not return.
Goodman kicked Clemens off him and slowly stood up, still holding his M4 assault rifle.
Spitting a glob of phlegm at Clemens, who had been shot in the abdomen, Goodman said viciously, "I told you, Professor, physical labor isn't your forte!"
Turning his gaze to Liz, whose face was filled with despair, Goodman smoothed his hair with one hand and said with a smile, "Beautiful lady, now you're all alone."
Liz struggled to crawl toward Clemens, who had been shot, and watched the blood slowly seeping out beneath him. Tears blurred her vision as she hoarsely called out his name.
Goodman pressed the muzzle of his gun against Liz's forehead, lowered his head, and said, "Look at your face, it's such a waste for you to die like this. Do you want to play with me? If I'm in a good mood, maybe..."
Liz gritted her teeth, her eyes filled with hatred and rage, and roared at Goodman, "Go to hell!"
Goodman frowned and said, "Why do you keep repeating the same thing? Since you insist, I have no choice but to send you all on your way..."
Gunshots rang out again.
However, this time, the one who was hit was Goodman.
Goodman, who had been shot, stumbled and fell to the ground, his rifle falling to the corner of the wall.
Looking down at the wound on his shoulder, Goodman's face was filled with disbelief.
He turned around and looked in the direction from which the gunshots came.
Alice, whose forehead was covered in blood, actually stood up, holding a pistol in both hands and pointing it at Goodman, with a few wisps of white smoke still lingering at the muzzle.
"This is impossible! You're dead!" Goodman struggled to her feet, looked at the young girl before her, took a deep breath, and approached her, saying, "Child, this isn't a toy. You should give it to me for safekeeping..."
Before she could finish speaking, Alice pulled the trigger again.
The bullet struck Goodman's right leg precisely.
Goodman screamed and fell to the ground, clutching his wound and cursing, "Fuck! Fuck! You little bastard! I'm going to kill you!"
Alice put down her pistol and slowly walked to Goodman's side. Her cold gaze stunned the latter, who was used to death, so much so that he forgot to speak for a moment.
Liz looked at the girl, whose blank and unfamiliar expression sent a chill down her spine.
Liz called softly, "Alice?"
The girl looked at Liz, tilted her head, and asked, "Alice?"
After glancing at the pistol in the other person's hand, Liz cautiously asked again, "Do you remember me?"
The girl looked at Liz's face and gently shook her head.
Liz stood up, quickly went to Clemens' side, hugged him, and asked the girl, "Do you remember your father?"
The girl looked at Clemens, her body trembling slightly: "Daddy?"
Clemens, who had been shot in the abdomen, was on the verge of death due to excessive blood loss.
He looked at Liz in front of him and said weakly, "Leave here and go to the Ship Mountain Refuge."
Liz tried to help Clemens up, but he refused.
Clemens shook his head and said, "Don't worry about me, I can't go on with you..."
Liz hugged Clemens, sobbing, "I can't leave you."
Clemens gently grasped Liz's arm and whispered, "Take good care of Alice and live on."
After saying these words, Clemens's hand fell limply to his side, and his eyes closed forever.
Seeing Liz hugging the man and crying loudly, a scene flashed through Alice's mind in an instant as she lost her memory.
Just as Alice was about to capture those images, a shriek from the distant tunnel interrupted her thoughts.
Alice said to Liz, who was in tears, "It's time to go."
Slowly setting down Clemens's body from her arms, Liz walked to the corner, picked up the M4 assault rifle, and, filled with hatred, approached Goodman, pointing the gun at the scumbag's forehead.
Alice reached out and stopped Liz, saying, "Don't kill him, he's still useful."
Alice aimed the pistol at Goodman's left leg and pulled the trigger again.
Bang!
With both legs shot and completely unable to move, Goodman immediately understood the wicked intentions of the seven-year-old girl in front of him.
"Damn it! My leg! You damned demon! I curse you! I curse you to a horrible death!"
Alice looked into the depths of the tunnel, then turned back to Liz and said, "Let's go, someone will take good care of this gentleman for us."
As the two women's footsteps receded into the distance, Goodman, crawling on the ground trying to survive, finally saw the shadows approaching from the darkness.
As he frantically crawled backward, he turned back and yelled, "I'm a decent man! I shouldn't die like this! Get away! Don't come near me!"
Soon, darkness enveloped the entire tunnel, and the screams completely drowned out the victims' screams.
