Chapter 537 Father and Daughter Go on an Outing

Under the tranquil night sky, Todd, having finished dinner, sat on the second-floor terrace of his palace, gazing silently at the starry sky above.

The footsteps behind him made him sigh slightly, and he asked, "Is Aurora asleep?"

Wearing only a light gauze nightgown, Deirdre walked to Todd's side, squatted down, rested her head on his arm, and nodded gently.

Under the cover of night, Deirdre, after her bath, perfectly embodies the most captivating beauty a woman can have.

Her features were delicate and beautiful, her full figure almost filled out the thin fabric of her clothes, and her eyes held a hint of dazedness and sorrow.

Tell me, which is better, your hometown or this city?

Deirdre's question left Todd silent for a few seconds before she finally gave a vague answer: "They are not the same."

Deirdre raised her head, her stunning beauty revealing a hint of helplessness and pleading: "So, is the rumor I heard that you plan to abandon everything here and return to your original country true or false?"

Todd looked into Deirdre's eyes and asked, "Did Rachel tell you all of this?"

"No, that woman is too shrewd. Every word she says and every expression she makes has a ulterior motive. I can't trust her."

Todd was somewhat surprised to hear Deirdre's words.

In his memory, Rachel and Deirdre had a very harmonious relationship, after all, it was Rachel who insisted on keeping Deirdre by her side.

As if sensing Todd's question, Deirdre said softly, "Do you know why Rachel kept me here? It's because of my special ability—soul summoning. If she dies, I can bring her soul into the soul space. As long as I'm here, she won't worry about her soul getting lost. That's how I'm useful to her."

Todd gently stroked Deirdre's cheek: "At least she saved you once, that's a fact."

“Do you think I’m a heartless woman?” Deirdre grasped Todd’s hand, shaking her head as she said, “In the past, I was considered a cursed person. My family didn’t want to come near me, and I didn’t care about anything. But now, I have a husband and children, and family is everything to me.”

Deirdre stretched out her arms and hugged Todd tightly, her voice trembling slightly: "You are the king of this country, the god of all things in the world. You don't need to go back to that old home at all. Everything you want is here; this is your true home! Your followers, your soldiers, and I, and Aurora, all need you..."

Todd wrapped his arms around Deirdre, pulled her into his embrace, closed his eyes, and let out a long sigh.

Inside the terrace, Ivy leaned against the wall, hiding herself in the darkness, listening to the conversation coming from not far away, her eyes filled with unbearable loneliness.

The next morning, the sunlight shone directly on Todd's face. He woke up in the big bed, stretched, and looked at Deirdre, who was still fast asleep beside him.

The blanket barely covered her most private parts, and her naked, flushed body was covered with traces of frenzied lovemaking.

Todd tiptoed out of bed, without calling for the servants, and instead found a set of clothes to put on and walked toward the garden outside the palace.

Wearing a light green hunting outfit, Ivy sat in the small pavilion in the center of the garden, her long silver hair cascading down her sides like a waterfall.

She turned her head to look at Todd walking towards her, and the first thing she said was, "You should spend more time with Aurora."

Todd sat down opposite Evie and nodded slightly, saying, "I've been dealing with some important matters lately, so I haven't been able to spend much time with her."

“Aurora is different from those ordinary children. Wherever she goes, the title of Daughter of God surrounds her like a dazzling halo. When everyone looks at her, their eyes are filled with reverence and fear, but this is not what Aurora wants to see at all.”

Evie took a deep breath: "Aurora is only three years old. Like any ordinary child, her favorite thing is to play and have fun, rather than sitting on a high throne and receiving the worship of mortals."

Todd said helplessly, "Perhaps I can have someone find some children of the right age in the city to come into the palace and keep her company."

Evie leaned forward, pointed to the ceiling, and raised her voice: "Look at her here, and then look at her back! Aurora was born special, one of a kind. She is the daughter of the Dragon God, a descendant of the Lord of Heaven! Do you think any mortal child would dare to consider her a friend?"

Todd sighed.

“Aurora’s mother, Deirdre, poured too much attention and pressure into this girl. She always demanded that Aurora be the best in every aspect, only in this way could she live up to her status.”

Ivy said in a low voice, distressed, "That girl has borne too much burden for someone her age."

Todd recalled that innocent little face in his mind, pondered for a moment, and then said, "Evie, I want to thank you, thank you for telling me all this."

Evie shrugged: "To be honest, sometimes I can understand Deirdre's feelings. If I could have a daughter like Aurora, I would definitely train her like crazy and train her to become the most powerful Valkyrie."

Todd smiled and stood up, saying to Evie, "Children Aurora's age need happiness, not suffering."
