When Todd walked out of Elijah's laboratory, he still couldn't understand the Elders' way of life.
Both Eleanor and Elijah turned a blind eye to the spread of the undead plague. One wanted to possess the entire Southern Empire and seize supreme power; the other thought of escaping the strife and embarking on another journey of escape.
The two paths led to two different extremes.
Seeing Todd's expression, Meredith tentatively asked, "An unpleasant conversation?"
“No, not really, but it’s a little different from what I expected.” Todd sat down in a chair and let out a long sigh. “Perhaps they haven’t seen the undead army with their own eyes, so they don’t care about this threat at all.”
Meredith said, "There's another possibility: perhaps they've already prepared a way out."
Todd rubbed his forehead hard: "Once the necromancers take control of the world, any way out will be a dead end."
Meredith looked up and thought for a moment, then said, "If you can't persuade Iliad, there's one more person you can try?"
“Eleanor?” Todd’s eyes widened. “That crazy woman?”
Meredith nodded: "Just like I said, Eleanor would love to see you here, and perhaps she'll be interested in your proposal."
Todd pondered, "Eleanor is a very unstable factor, but she always gives me a sense of familiarity..."
At this point, Todd suddenly stopped talking.
Suddenly, Rachel's face appeared in his mind.
Shaking his head vigorously, Todd said, "If Eliard ignores the threat of the undead, then Eleanor may be my only option. After all, the prototype technology of the undead originated from the Elder Council, and only the people here would understand it."
Meredith said, "I will accompany you to see Eleanor. The title of Grand Master of the Legion of Strife will make her think twice before acting."
After a pause, Meredith continued, "To put it another way, if something really does happen, I have a way to get you out of here."
The two left Iliad's residence and had just reached the main hall of the council when they saw a tall, upright man standing there.
"Garcia, the vice-commander of the Legion of Conflict, the second in line, the loyal dog of the Mother Goddess."
Meredith's whisper quickly made Todd realize who the newcomer was.
The handsome Garcia walked up to Todd, bowed, and said, "King of the Dragon Kingdom, the Mother Goddess awaits your arrival."
Todd frowned and asked, "Did she know I was going to see her?"
“Elder Eliade’s shortsightedness doomed him to be no good ally,” Garcia said, straightening his back. “The Mother Goddess already knew what you needed.”
Todd was suspicious. Could it be that Eleanor had a way to fight the undead?
Garcia bowed to Meredith as well: "Of course, Grand Master, you are also among those invited by the Mother Goddess."
Todd and Meredith exchanged a glance, and the former said to Garcia, "Lead the way."
Following Garcia, Todd walked through the Presbyterian Square and climbed the mountain path to higher ground.
In the Presbyterian temple complex, the highest building was once called the "Hall of Salvation" by the Presbyterian heretics. A statue of the heretic hero, Sutherland, once stood in the square... But now, the statue has collapsed into a pile of rubble, and the "Hall of Salvation" has been renamed the "Temple of the Mother Goddess" by the Mother Goddess followers.
Entering the Mother Goddess Temple, following the smooth, mirror-like marble floor, passing through the magnificent halls, and exiting the innermost natural cave, a waterfall a hundred meters high hangs on the rock wall, and directly below the waterfall, a beautiful sky garden has been built.
The vibrant and dazzling flowers, along with the rare and unusual birds and animals, adorn this palace hidden among the mountains and rivers, making it seem like a fairyland on earth.
The core of the Mother Goddess Cult—the Mother Goddess's Palace—is located in the very center of this garden.
Standing in the center of the garden, Todd looked up at the palace on the high ground, where a pure white figure stood out conspicuously amidst the flowers.
Eleanor wore a long white dress, and her cascading hair was carefully styled on top of her head. Her stunning beauty made the entire garden pale in comparison.
Todd's appearance caught Eleanor's eye.
She flipped over and jumped off the platform, floating slowly like a bird in front of Todd.
"I have been waiting for you for a long time."
Faced with Eleanor's enthusiasm, Todd instinctively took a step back: "Do you know why I'm here?"
"For your kingdom, for your followers, and of course, for all people."
Eleanor's answer was so direct that Todd was somewhat surprised.
Eleanor pointed in the direction of the palace: "Let's go up first, this isn't the place to talk."
Upon arriving at Eleanor's chambers, Todd looked around at the furnishings and suddenly had the illusion that he was in Twilight City.
A variety of furniture in the Dragon Kingdom style, decorations that can only be sold in Twilight City. Todd turned to look at Eleanor and realized that her clothes were also from the Twilight City brand - Liliel.
Eleanor sat on a sofa and said to Todd with a smile, "Everything here comes from your kingdom."
“Looking at everything here makes me appreciate your power even more. You’ve built a great empire in just over a decade, surpassing the efforts of others over a thousand years.” Eleanor looked at Todd with interest: “If you had more time, what heights could you reach? I’m curious, but even more eager to see.”
