After talking for a while, Rachel looked at the listless Karin and said to Pamela and Cosette, "You must be tired from the journey. We can continue our conversation tomorrow. Let's rest first."
Pamela and Cosette nodded in agreement, said goodbye to Karin, and left the room one after the other.
Just as Rachel was about to leave, Karin suddenly called out to her.
"Sister Rachel, I have some questions for you."
Rachel stopped pushing the door open, turned her back to Karin, sighed almost imperceptibly, and asked softly, "Is it about Todd?"
Karin gave a soft "hmm".
Rachel closed the door again, slowly walked to the bedside, sat down next to Karin, and asked, "Are you worried?"
Karin's pale eyes turned to Rachel, her voice trembling slightly: "He'll leave, won't he?"
Rachel asked, "Why do you think he'll leave?"
Karin's voice sounded somewhat sad: "I've seen that world in the Soul Space, and I've seen how Todd looked at it."
“When Todd looked at the images from that world, his eyes were so gentle, and the corners of his mouth would turn up slightly,” Karin said sadly. “I know he always longed to go home, back to the place where he used to live.”
Rachel sighed: "That world is indeed beautiful..."
Karin continued, "Todd sits on the throne, dealing with countless affairs every day, and trying his best to protect everyone. Since he became king, I have never seen a genuine smile on his face, not even once..."
"He always took all the responsibility on his own shoulders, even when it was overwhelming him, he never thought of bending his back," Rachel said with admiration.
Karin: "But all of this will come to an end. When there is nothing left to hold Todd back, he will leave. He will go back to the world that was originally his."
Rachel sat down next to Karin, her hands resting on the edge of the bed, her eyes fixed on the ceiling. She let out a long sigh and asked, "And what about you?"
Karin turned to look at Rachel: "Me?"
Rachel: "And what are your thoughts? If Todd were to leave this world one day, would you choose to stay, or leave with him?"
Without the slightest hesitation, Karin immediately replied, "I want to go with him."
A moment later, Karin became worried again: "But, will Todd agree to take me with him...? I can't help him at all, I'm always causing him all sorts of trouble, will he really agree to take me with him?"
Rachel patted Karin on the shoulder: "If you're determined, then go with him."
Karin was somewhat surprised: "Is that alright?"
Rachel: "In fact, I had talked to Todd about this before. Once he found a way to leave this world, he agreed to take some of the aliens with him and go to the place where he originally lived."
Karin asked excitedly, "He agreed?"
Rachel nodded: "Believe me, Todd never thought of you as a problem. He just didn't want to get you involved in certain things... In his opinion, the most important thing is for you to live a peaceful life."
Karin shook her head vigorously: "That's not what I think!"
Rachel touched the burns on Karin's face and said softly, "I know you two are like two hedgehogs. You're always thinking of each other, but you end up hurting each other unintentionally."
Karin lowered her head sadly, trying her best not to let Rachel see the tears in her eyes.
Rachel pulled the other person into her arms and didn't say anything more.
At 8:00 a.m. the following morning, in the eastern district of the outer city of Muxi City, at the construction site of defensive fortifications.
Holding a whiteboard, Randall, who was in charge of security at the construction site, repeatedly checked the unfinished tower in front of him while shouting to the orc Carol in the distance, "There's a problem here."
Carol, riding on the Thunderous War Beast, handed the reins to another Crusader and walked to Randall's side.
Randall pointed to the firing ports on the tower and said, "According to the design, this should be wider on the outside and narrower on the inside, but all the stones delivered are flat-edged."
Carroll picked up a stone from the ground, examined it, and then gestured towards the tower.
Lying on the ground, the bored werewolf Aldnan yawned: "We're here to protect the construction site, not to supervise it. That's the job of the city hall guys."
Carol walked over, kicked Aldenan off the ground, and said fiercely, "When the undead really attack, let's see how you slack off then!"
Aldenan rubbed his back and said helplessly, "You saw those little bugs on the necromancers too. If you get even a little bit on them, they'll mutate immediately. You should teach me how to fight this battle."
Randall put down the recorder and said, "Twilight University is researching necromancy parasites, and I believe they will eventually find a solution."
Carroll pointed to the construction site: "And we have allies and weapons."
Aldenan glanced at the massive Thunderous War Beasts in the distance, the agile Bone-Piercing Giant Wolves, and the giant Crocodile Lizards shrouded in poisonous gas.
The werewolf shrugged. "To be honest, I don't think these war beasts will be of much use in fighting the undead... but that leopard-like guy from before might be of some help. What was his name again...?"
Randall said, "Shadow."
Aldenan: "Yes, yes, Shadows! But after that battle, all the Shadows returned to the north. I wonder if they went into hiding, afraid to fight the undead."
