The meat looked golden and crispy on the surface, with a fragrant aroma, but it tasted bitter and astringent, with a strange flavor.
"If only we could go and extract sea salt," Fei Han muttered.
The meat cooked with such poor-quality salt caused his culinary skills to plummet, which was a direct embarrassment to his reputation as a member of the Dan Bird clan who was known for his skill in winning over females.
Just then, Bai Jing walked in. Mo Zhou got angry when he saw him, snorted, and ignored him. Fei Han was lamenting her failed dish and didn't care about Bai Jing either.
Bai Jing said, "I'm going out tomorrow to exchange for salt crystals. Please take good care of Wanwan."
Fei Han was taken aback: "Didn't Wanwan tell you not to go?"
"I must go." For Wanwan's sake, he had to go and get the salt crystal back.
Bai Jing instructed, "Keep a close eye on Wanwan tomorrow and try your best not to let her find out I've left."
Mo Zhou became happy: "Don't worry, with me here, Wanwan will never find out that you've left."
Bai Jing also twitched the corner of his mouth: "That would be for the best."
Unfortunately, they weren't ready when Yu Wanwan discovered Bai Jing's plan.
She stood in the kitchen doorway, hands on her hips, her face contorted with anger: "Bai Jing, didn't I tell you not to go?"
Bai Jing said helplessly, "Wanwan, don't worry, I'll be back soon."
"I don't care." Yu Wanwan's tone was firm, and she held onto Bai Jing's hand tightly, unwilling to let go: "If you're going, take me with you, or I won't let you leave the house."
Bai Jing tried to grab Yu Wanwan's hand, but she dodged it and then grabbed Bai Jing again from a different position.
Bai Jing said, "Wanwan, if I don't go, the tribe will have no salt crystals this year. As the chief, I can't just sit idly by."
Yu Wanwan resorted to shamelessness: "If being the clan leader means risking being crushed to death to trade salt crystals, then we'll resign right now."
Ever since the witch doctor came that day, Yu Wanwan secretly went to see him again to ask him to do a divination.
After the witch doctor performed his rituals, he performed three divinations, two of which yielded bad luck, and the other yielded only medium luck.
This makes it even less likely that Yu Wanwan will let Bai Jing go out and take risks.
I tried to pull Yu Wanwan up several times, but I couldn't budge her.
Bai Jing looked to Fei Han and Mo Zhou for help.
Mo Zhou ignored his gaze and served the food to the table. Fei Han stepped forward and touched Yu Wanwan, only to be glared at fiercely.
Not wanting to upset the little female, he waved to Bai Jing, indicating that this was all he could do to help, and then turned and left.
Tonight's dinner was as unpalatable as ever. Yu Wanwan managed to eat a few bites before putting down her chopsticks.
Fei Han urged, "Wanwan, eat some more."
Yu Wanwan shook her head, declining the once delicious food with utmost politeness: "I'm really full."
Mo Zhou said, "Wanwan, this won't do. Why don't you let Bai Jing go and trade the salt crystals?"
Upon hearing this, Yu Wanwan grabbed Bai Jing's hand and hugged him even tighter: "At worst, I'll just drink beast blood."
Fei Han said coldly, "Drinking beast blood will only make you vomit even more."
