After the end of the semester

After the end of the semester

Song Zhao knew that life in the entertainment industry wasn't what she longed for. She disliked crowds and preferred a low-key life. Her ideal scenario was to find a well-paying job, and after work, hold Nanqi's hand and stroll freely through the streets, travel, and occasionally sing her favorite songs. Whether anyone listened or not didn't matter; having Nanqi as an audience was enough. They would live a simple and happy life together, growing old slowly.

So she refused without hesitation and asked Nanqi to find the person who posted the video and delete it. The junior who posted the video was also a big fan of Song Zhao and only gave up the video with such high views after getting an autographed photo from her.

On the day of the exam, it snowed heavily. Every step you took covered your shoes with snow, making a crunching sound as you walked.

The snow stopped after the exam, and many people habitually checked their answers. Song Zhao was surrounded by a lot of people, as if her face had the standard answers written on it.

Nanqi was speechless. Did checking the answers really make her score higher?

She gathered several small snow mounds with her bare hands, and then slowly formed a large snowball. Seeing Nanqi building a snowman by herself, Song Zhao smiled, said goodbye to her classmates, and walked over to Nanqi's side.

"Oh, you've finally decided to come over, class monitor?" Nanqi said unhappily.

Seeing that she didn't even look up, Song Zhao made a small snowball and threw it at her face. "That'll teach you to be sarcastic."

Nanqi felt a chill on her nose instantly and hurriedly stood up to wipe the snow off her face. The fine snowflakes stuck to her eyebrows, making her look like a white-browed Taoist priest, which made Song Zhao laugh out loud.

"Oh, so you dare laugh at me?!"

Nanqi jokingly chuckled and grabbed a handful of snow, throwing it at Song Zhao. The snow turned into tiny snowflakes as it landed on Song Zhao, adding only a few white flower decorations to her hat and down jacket, posing no real threat.

Li Jia and Duan Peng also came over. Taking advantage of Nan Qi's inattention, they each made a solid snowball and threw it at her neck. The snowflakes slid down her neck and made her shiver from the cold.

Their actions united Nanqi and Song Zhao. Song Zhao launched a series of attacks, while Nanqi approached them step by step with the large snowball she had just built, then suddenly splashed it, soaking them from head to toe.

Li Jia and Duan Peng no longer held back, their attacks on Song Zhao becoming increasingly fierce. Nan Qi, while attacking, used her hands to protect Song Zhao's head, afraid of damaging her pretty little face. At first, the four of them fought back and forth, but in the end, Nan Qi shouted that she was surrendering, retreating repeatedly, and even dragging Song Zhao along as they ran in a sorry state.

"Hahaha, Sister Qi, I never thought you'd have a time when you had to run away in defeat."

Duan Peng was laughing triumphantly when suddenly a snowball "whooshed" into his mouth. Duan Peng immediately spat it out with a look of disgust, while the other three people laughed uncontrollably at his disheveled appearance.

"Who is it?" Duan Peng asked, spitting out the snow foam from his mouth.

Actually, it was Song Zhao. Nanqi put her hands on her hips and laughed, "Huh? I didn't see it. Maybe it's a gift from God because He likes you."

The group burst into laughter.

"How about we build a snowman together?" Song Zhao suggested.

“Okay, let’s all four of us build a snowman… as tall as Nanqi,” Li Jia said.

Upon hearing this, Duan Peng immediately perked up, "I'll do it."

The bottom snowball was quite large. Duan Peng found a shovel and kept shoveling snow, while Li Jia helped shape it. This snowball reached Duan Peng's hip and was perfectly round. Nan Qi and Song Zhao made a normal-sized snowball for its upper body, and finally added a small snowball on top. The whole snowman was taller than Nan Qi.

Song Zhao was quite skilled at drawing. She stood on tiptoe, intending to start decorating the snowman from the eyes. Seeing that she was struggling, Nan Qi squatted down, holding her legs with one hand and her waist with the other, and steadily lifted her up.

Li Jia, worried, helped support Song Zhao, who then added cartoon-style facial features to the snowman according to her own ideas. After finishing, Nan Qi gently placed her down, but didn't let go of her waist, only changing her grip.

Standing 5 meters away from the snowman, Duan Peng looked left and right, then suddenly exclaimed, "The snowman looks like Sister Qi!"

Li Jia also stood where Duan Peng was, looked at the snowman's head, and said, "It really looks like it."

Nanqi and Song Zhao exchanged a glance, both understanding each other implicitly, and revealed ambiguous smiles.

"Let's take a picture together, the four of us," Duan Peng said.

Duan Peng, being tall, stood at the front holding his phone. Nan Qi, Song Zhao, and Li Jia stood diagonally behind him, their hands on the shoulders of the people in front of them. At the very back was the snowman they had built, as if the snowman had become one of them.

After taking the photo, Li Jia patted the snowman and said, "From now on, you'll be called Daqi." She smiled crookedly and said, "Come on, Daqi, call me Mom."

"I…!!!"

Nanqi chased after Li Jia and started fighting. Li Jia dodged and ran, saying, "I built this snowman, what's wrong with it calling me?"

"I'll fucking beat you to death, then you'll see!!"

It is said that Li Jia hid behind Song Zhao that day and pushed her all the way, which saved her life.

Nanqi did quite well in this final exam, ranking 30 places higher than her previous grades. To encourage her, Wu Hua insisted on getting her a new cell phone.

Nanqi was excited for a long time. In front of Song Zhao, she kept praising and kissing her phone, and even downloaded a few games. Her focus on the phone almost made Song Zhao jealous.

"Confiscated," Song Zhao said, snatching the phone away.

"Hey, I'm still excited about it," Nanqi said.

"No phone use during meals," Song Zhao said sternly.

Ah~

"Aunt Fang worked so hard to cook, and you barely took a few bites, just kept pressing your precious phone. Do you think that's respectful?"

Aunt Fang was brought up out of the blue, and she quickly explained, "It's nothing, it's just a meal. As long as I'm full, it's fine. Don't argue because of me."

Nanqi realized that her behavior was inappropriate and lowered her head, saying, "Aunt Fang, it was my fault. Zhaozhao is right to criticize me. You made a table full of dishes, I should have eaten properly."

As she spoke, Nanqi picked up a mouthful of garlic vermicelli and ate it in large bites.

"I must say, Nanqi's food tastes amazing; it makes my mouth water just looking at it."

"It's all because your cooking is so delicious."

Song Zhao's brows relaxed, and the corners of his mouth turned up. He then picked up some more water spinach and gave it to Nan Qi. "Didn't you say this dish was delicious last time? Eat more."

"Hehe, I knew you were the best to me." Nanqi said with a silly grin while chewing her food.

Nanqi suddenly remembered something and casually asked, "It's almost Chinese New Year, are you and Aunt Fang still spending it here?"

...

Aunt Fang said, "Zhaozhao and I will each go back to our respective homes for the New Year."

"Oh." Nanqi then said to Song Zhao, "I remember your birthday is on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year this year. Are you going to spend it in your hometown?"

How did you know my birthday?

“You □□, there’s a date on it.”

"Oh right, I forgot." Song Zhao paused and said, "I should be back on the seventh day of the new year."

"Ah~, why are you only coming back now that school is about to start? I haven't seen you for seven days... and Aunt Fang too, I'll definitely miss you both."

"Oh my, you have such a sweet voice," Aunt Fang said with a smile.

"Then why are you always on your phone? With your phone around, how can you even remember me?" Song Zhao said sourly.

“How can it be like this all day long…” Nanqi pouted, saying unconvinced.

She can't play on her phone while studying, and she only touches it when it's almost time to eat. These past two days, she's been particularly excited about it and has become inseparable from it.

“No matter how good that phone is, it can’t compare to yours,” Nanqi muttered under her breath. “I can’t possibly develop feelings for it.”

Song Zhao raised an eyebrow and said, "It's good that you know."

She tugged at Nanqi's collar and whispered, "Before the New Year, your eyes are only allowed to look at me, and you're not allowed to stare at it anymore, understand?"

Nanqi glanced down at her chest and said with interest, "Okay, I'll only be watching you."
