Chapter 6 Cufflinks
Although her confused memories were just an excuse for Luo Xincheng not to admit that she and Fu Zhiheng had a relationship, her memory was indeed not very good. After so many years, she had long forgotten why she chose to be with him in the first place.
She only vaguely remembered that when they first got together, she felt a little regretful.
After all, this person was neither particularly handsome nor talented, and his personality was rather bland, making him rather uninteresting to be around.
Whenever she gets shy, before her face shows any sign of it, her ears immediately start burning.
His hair was as black as ink and his skin as white as snow. When his ears turned red, they were very noticeable, as dazzling as a touch of vermilion in a traditional Chinese ink painting.
For a while, Luo Xincheng really liked to talk close to his ear, and would deliberately blow air into his ear. If she went too far, she would bite his earlobe, and finally watch as his fair earlobe slowly blushed with a rosy hue.
These little pleasures gradually made Luo Xincheng give up the idea of breaking up with him.
Perhaps he realized this too, and each time she was teased like this, he would silently let it go until she lost interest.
No, what are you shy about?
Did I just say anything that made people feel embarrassed?
She suddenly felt a sense of powerlessness, like punching cotton; the other party was unaffected, and she had wasted her energy.
After a brief moment of confusion, she recalled every word she had just uttered and began to reflect on and doubt her ability to express herself: Wasn't I being sarcastic and mocking?!
When you are being indirectly insulted, shouldn't you normally feel embarrassed or ashamed?
She hurriedly drank a few sips of champagne to suppress her chaotic thoughts.
But then Fu Zhiheng asked her again, "Do you still get headaches now? If you don't deliberately try to recall the past."
She casually replied, "It's fine now."
"Besides your head, did you hurt anywhere else?" He paused, speaking softly as if carefully choosing his tone, "Sorry, it sounds like I'm deliberately poking at your sore spot, but I really want to know."
Luo Xincheng didn't feel hurt. After all, so much time had passed since the incident, and even if she had been bothered by it at the time, her anger had long since subsided.
"There's also a fracture of the middle of the fibula in my left lower leg," she answered truthfully.
Upon hearing this, Fu Zhiheng subconsciously glanced at her legs.
Her dress today was a mermaid style, with layers of light fabric and intricate beading that completely covered her legs. When he looked over, his gaze could only catch a glimpse of her slender legs.
He quickly looked away, not daring to look any longer.
"It must hurt a lot..."
The moment the words left his mouth, he realized he had said something pointless and quickly added, "Sorry, I just felt that you were working very hard, after all, recovery and rehabilitation take a lot of time and energy..."
Luo Xincheng waved her hand impatiently; she had heard enough similar things during her convalescence.
"Anyway, that's all in the past."
Fu Zhiheng looked at her indifferent expression, her lips parted slightly, and finally she only uttered two dry words, "Sorry."
In the short few minutes of their conversation, Luo Xincheng lost count of how many times he apologized.
But now, surely this should be enough to cover up her amnesia?
Luo Xincheng glanced at Fu Zhiheng, who looked annoyed, and thought maliciously, "Since she has amnesia and can't remember or doesn't want to think about you, her ex-boyfriend, you should be sensible and not cling to me like that next time."
It's such an eyesore.

There was really nothing left to talk about, and Luo Xincheng didn't want to engage in any more unnecessary small talk.
She put down her wine glass, turned slightly on her toes, and prepared a polite farewell.
Just as she was about to speak, a gentle breeze suddenly came from the side, just enough to lift her hair.
He didn't know when it started, but the distance between Fu Zhiheng and her had become very close, so close that when her long hair floated freely in the wind, the ends of her hair could just brush against his face.
"Hmm..."
A strand of hair, at an odd angle, brushed past his glasses and landed on Fu Zhiheng's eyelids, with a few strands even getting into his eye socket. He quickly closed his eyes.
Seeing his embarrassment, Luo Xincheng couldn't help but burst out laughing.
But she quickly said, "I'm sorry."
He was apologizing sincerely, but he couldn't hide the malicious smile on his face.
"It's nothing," Fu Zhiheng blinked awkwardly, and said in a muffled voice, "It's not your fault."
Of course! Who told you to stay so close to me all the time?
Luo Xincheng wasn't in a hurry to leave at this moment. She stood there leisurely, letting her hair slap against his face.
To her surprise, Fu Zhiheng did not distance himself from her to avoid her hair. When his eyes felt uncomfortable, he simply extended a finger and carefully brushed the hair around his eyes.
He ignored the hairs brushing against his cheeks.
His eyes are quite sensitive; after being pricked for a short while, fine blood vessels oozed from his conjunctiva, covering a thin layer of physiological tears.
After cleaning the hair around his eyes, he carefully pushed up his glasses, successfully blocking the evil spirits that were trying to attack his eyes again.
Luo Xincheng found it amusing and couldn't help but glance at it a few more times.
When her gaze fell upon the other person's hand, her eyes froze, and the smile on her lips unconsciously faded.
She had briefly seen the exact same cufflinks.
On Jiang Wei's birthday, after she had witnessed someone else's car accident scene.
Perhaps it's just a case of wearing the same item?
She squinted intently, staring at the delicate diamonds around the edge of the cufflinks, lost in thought.
Although she didn't know much about cufflinks, if she remembered correctly, the basic nautilus cufflinks from this brand didn't have diamonds set around the edges...
So here's the question: what are the odds that she would encounter two different people wearing the same brand and the same niche, possibly even discontinued, cufflinks within just one week?
Luo Xincheng looked at Fu Zhiheng suspiciously, but if it really was him she encountered that day, why did he run away so fast after seeing her?
Why did you stop running when you saw me this time? You even insisted on coming closer.
What's the point?
Just when she was completely baffled, a sudden inspiration struck her: she remembered the identity of the person involved in the car accident.
"What's wrong?"
Perhaps because she had been staring at his hands for a while, Fu Zhiheng felt a little uncomfortable and pulled his hands back into his sleeves.
She immediately snapped back to reality, a subtle smile unconsciously tugging at the corners of her lips. "It's nothing."
Haha, you call him "Third Brother" so affectionately, but you were actually there when he got into a car accident, right?
Thinking of this, she glanced at his cufflinks again and exclaimed, "Your cufflinks are very beautiful."
Fu Zhiheng looked at her in disbelief, clearly stunned for a moment.
He never expected to receive her praise in this regard.
"Thanks."
A slight smile curved his lips, then he lowered his head and pulled his shirt sleeves outwards, making sure to show his cufflinks.
Even though he was wearing a tailor-made suit today, he acted as if he had stolen an adult's clothes, with an indescribable awkwardness mixed with nervous smugness.
She said that rumors were circulating that Fu San's car accident was because Fu Wu had tampered with his motorcycle...
The raging winds had long since died down, Luo Xincheng's hair obediently stayed where it should, and Fu Zhiheng's face was finally no longer bothered by them.
He was still adjusting his sleeves, his head hanging down. His hair, which hadn't been styled with hair gel, was fluffy from the wind, with a few strands sticking up at the edges, revealing a cuteness that didn't match his age.
It seems very deceptive.
Her thoughts drifted, and she blinked slowly.
When I opened my eyes again, I was caught off guard and met a pair of eyes.
His eyes were black and white, straight and unwavering, with pupils so dark they seemed to absorb all light.
Luo Xincheng took a deep breath, trying her best to keep her expression calm.
In the blink of an eye, he silently looked up at her, his thin-rimmed glasses slipping down his nose due to inertia, exposing his eyes completely to Luo Xincheng's gaze.
Then, without saying a word, he just stared at her without blinking, his eyes appearing even rounder as he looked up.
It might look cute in everyday situations, but in low-light conditions, being stared at by such a pair of round eyes is actually a bit frightening.
After staring at each other for what seemed like an eternity, he finally spoke, "What's wrong?"
Luo Xincheng stared at him expressionlessly for a few seconds.
The bloodshot in his eyes had almost disappeared, and the moisture in his eyes flickered in and out of view in the changing light and shadow.
"nothing."
She slowly smiled, her eyes and mouth curving into a joyful arc, revealing the most radiant smile of the evening.
For no apparent reason, Fu Zhiheng sensed a hint of arrogance in his expression.
What is she laughing at?
Fu Zhiheng, seemingly oblivious, also laughed.
*
Actually, Luo Xincheng was just thinking that the power struggles within wealthy families were really interesting.
It's good, I love watching it, please give it more screen time^^
