Wang Lan and Sun Muchen drove along the tunnel, but the road behind them was beginning to collapse continuously. The electrical circuits were also damaged, and even the lights above the road were flickering on and off. As the number of collapsed sections increased, Wang Lan had no choice but to press the accelerator harder.
He felt like he was about to press the accelerator pedal to the ground, but the car speed was still increasing, and the numbers on the dashboard were constantly changing and growing.
120……
140……
180……
220……
The speed was so fast that it felt like the car was about to take off. When Wang Lan turned a corner, he even felt that the car was about to flip over to one side, but fortunately, he passed each corner without any major incident.
“This car must have been upgraded,” Sun Muchen said excitedly. “If we were driving it like that according to the book, we would have died eight hundred times over!”
"Stop rambling," Wang Lan said. "Keep an eye on what's behind us. How far away is the landslide?"
"Don't worry, brother, you won't be able to see it." Sun Muchen shook his head.
Wang Lan breathed a sigh of relief and said, "That's good. It seems we're safe for now."
“No,” Sun Muchen shook his head and said, “because all the lights in the back are off, so I can’t see them.”
Wang Lan: "???"
The next moment, everything went black.
All the lights in the tunnel were turned off.
Sensing the light was no longer in the darkness, the car's headlights automatically turned on. As the white light suddenly illuminated the road ahead, Wang Lan saw the front of the car heading straight towards the edge of the tunnel.
Sun Muchen turned pale, "Brother—"
Wang Lan jerked the steering wheel, the front of the car skidding along the tunnel wall, followed by a series of loud thuds, and then the rumbling sound of a landslide behind them. The brother and sister were terrified. Sun Muchen quickly turned his head, while Wang Lan gripped the steering wheel tightly and stepped on the gas.
He then asked, "What happened next?"
Sun Muchen was taken aback and said, "I... I can't see clearly..."
"Then what are you looking at!" Wang Lan shouted, "Hurry up and think of something, or we're doomed!"
Sun Muchen suddenly realized what was going on, looked down at the control panel, and immediately saw the button labeled "N2" and pressed it.
A furious roar erupted from behind.
A strong push-back sensation instantly hit them, and the brother and sister's bodies tensed up, pressing them against their seats. They felt the car's speed rise to a whole new level in an instant, and everything in front of them seemed to blur.
Sun Muchen turned his head to look back, only to see a dazzling blue light burst forth from behind the car. The collapsed ground only stayed in his line of sight for a second before being left far behind.
As Wang Lan felt the car's speed rapidly increase, she was filled with overwhelming excitement.
"That's awesome! This is so awesome!"
Wang Lan cheered excitedly. The roar of the car made him feel extremely excited. It was only because his physical qualities were beyond those of ordinary people that, at this speed, anyone else would not have been able to react in time before the curve.
The two were speeding through the tunnel, and the stone walls on both sides seemed to blur past them. Even though their speed had exceeded 300 km/h, they still felt that they were not going fast enough.
They continued driving at excessive speed for an unknown period of time until the roaring sound suddenly disappeared and the speed dropped in an instant. Before Wang Lan could fully enjoy his excitement, a sense of disappointment suddenly rose in his heart.
What happened?
Wang Lan pressed the N2 button in confusion, but there was no response.
Just as he was about to ask Sun Muchen a question, he heard Sun Muchen point ahead and say, "Brother, there's light ahead!"
Wang Lan then looked up and saw that it was brightly lit in front of her.
They left the final fortress.
We're already far from the safe zone...
The car stopped outside the tunnel.
Wang Lan and Sun Muchen got out of the car.
Seeing that the area was no longer a safe zone, with weeds growing everywhere and trees scattered about, they realized that the area was completely overgrown with weeds.
The only constant was the sky above, where dark clouds stretched as far as the eye could see, as if it were about to rain at any moment.
"We are the only two survivors left in the safe zone."
Wang Lan sighed, a wave of sorrow washing over her.
Sun Muchen also sighed, nodded, and then looked into the distance.
However, the safe zone is no longer visible.
"Old Zhang, Fatty, Yu Bin..."
Wang Lan was reciting the names of the dead one by one when he suddenly felt the ground beneath his feet shake. The two looked at each other and hurriedly looked around.
Then they all looked towards the tunnel entrance.
In the far distance beyond the tunnel entrance, a dazzling light suddenly flashed, followed by a mushroom cloud that appeared enormous even from a great distance, shooting straight into the sky.
Wang Lan and Sun Muchen exchanged a glance, both seeing shock in each other's eyes.
Sun Muchen asked in surprise, "Brother...we must have driven over a hundred kilometers just now, right?"
"It should be...more than that!"
The top of the mushroom cloud is spreading outwards, while at the bottom, a yellowish-brown streamline gradually emerges and becomes clearer in the field of vision.
The wind is picking up...
The wind carried a hint of warmth, brushing against their faces and disturbing Sun Muchen's hair, revealing a touch of youthful innocence on her tired face.
