Lu Shiyan glanced at his watch and found that Su Wan and Yan Shaoyou had left for more than ten minutes.
He put down his Tang sword, stood up and walked towards the small compartment.
The cubicle was empty, with only the cold wind blowing in from the window.
"Su Wan?" Lu Shiyan called out, but there was no response.
He immediately turned around and walked quickly towards the area where Yan Shaoyou had stayed before. It was also empty there. Yan Shaoyou's men and their vehicles were nowhere to be seen. Only Lin Jiayi and two soldiers were left guarding a bonfire that was about to go out.
"Su Wan is missing!" Xiao Han, Li Kui and others rushed over almost at the same time. They also noticed something was wrong.
"They just drove Su Wan away like that?!"
"Are our fucking ears just for show?!"
"With such a loud noise, how could you not hear anything?!"
Li Kui also had a look of shock on his face. This didn't make sense at all!
unless……
"Damn, they have psychics who specialize in this!"
"Something must have been done to stop us from hearing anything!"
"These sons of bitches!"
Lu Shiyan's body tensed up in an instant, a terrifying pressure spread from him, and he walked in front of Lin Jiayi.
"Where is Yan Shaoyou?"
"Major General Yan has received an extremely urgent military intelligence from the base. It is a matter of great importance. He must lead the team back immediately."
Xiao Han sneered beside her. The sound was not loud, but it was like a needle pricking Lin Jiayi's tense nerves.
"Really? What a coincidence?"
Li Kui was even more direct. He crossed his arms and rolled his eyes: "I think he ran away because he was guilty!"
Lin Jiayi's cheeks felt slightly hot, but she didn't dare to refute, so she could only continue talking.
"Miss Su...Miss Su learned that Uncle Su was ill and was extremely worried, so she took the initiative to ask to go back to the base with the Major General to take care of him."
Jin Dongdong's eyes widened as he muttered softly, "Sister Su Wan... left on her own initiative? How is that possible..."
Lu Shiyan's eyes fell on Lin Jiayi's face. "Active request?"
"Miss Su is very filial and is very concerned about her father's safety. Major General Yan is just... just complying with her wishes."
"Really?" Lu Shiyan pulled the corner of his mouth, "Then Major General Yan is really considerate. Did he leave you and the two soldiers behind to cover our retreat, or to abandon you as a pawn?"
She paused and added, "The major general was worried that you were short of manpower, so he specifically asked us to stay and assist you."
Xiao Han couldn't help but, "Assist? Stay as a hostage."
Lin Jiayi's face turned pale instantly.
"You're talking nonsense!"
"Nonsense?" Xiao Han said coldly. He walked around Lin Jiayi twice, clicking his tongue. "Major General Yan is really considerate of his subordinates. The military situation is extremely urgent, but he still left you to assist us 'outsiders'? If you want to make up a lie, find a more reliable one. Su Wan would abandon Young Master Lu and run away with your Major General Yan 'voluntarily'? Do you think we are three-year-old children?"
Ah Mo clenched his fists and glared at the two soldiers who dared not move: "Tell me! Where did they run to?"
The two soldiers were frightened by his ferocious appearance and subconsciously looked at Lin Jiayi.
Lin Jiayi gritted her teeth and said nothing. She couldn't say that this was a task given to her by Brother Shaoyou. She believed in him and he would never abandon her.
Lu Shiyan ignored her explanation and scanned the ground with sharp eyes. The night wind blew, stirring up dust. Under the flashlight, several new tire marks clearly extended to the northern fork in the road. The direction of the mud splashed by the edge of one of the marks showed the eagerness of the vehicle to leave.
He said in a deep voice: "Pack your things and leave immediately."
No one asked any questions, Xiao Han and Li Kui immediately took action, and Jin Dongdong also hurried to pack up the sleeping bags and sundries. The efficiency was amazingly high.
Lin Jiayi was stunned. How could he be so sure of the direction? He didn't even ask her another question? This feeling of being completely ignored was more uncomfortable than being tortured.
"You guys..." She couldn't help but speak.
Lu Shiyan had already walked to the car, he opened the door and looked back at her. That look was terrifyingly calm, but with a kind of indifference like looking down on an ant.
"Tell Yan Shaoyou that he'd better pray that Su Wan is safe and sound." His voice was steady, but every word was as cold as ice. "Otherwise, the Dawn Base will become his graveyard."
"Master Lu! Wait!" Xiao Han pointed at Lin Jiayi, "What should they do?"
"Keeping them here will only get in the way." Lu Shiyan's voice was cold, "Amo, remove their wheels."
"Yes!" A'mo said little but acted very quickly.
Lin Jiayi’s face turned pale: “You can’t…” Before she could finish her words, Lu Shiyan had already rushed into the off-road vehicle with Xiao Han and Li Kui.
The off-road vehicle's engine roared, and its tires rolled up sand and gravel, following the faintly discernible wheel tracks in the night.
Xiao Han did not forget to make a gesture of wiping his neck to Lin Jiayi.
…
On the other side, in the back seat of a speeding military off-road vehicle, Su Wan woke up slowly.
She moved and found herself lying on the seat, covered with a coat. After the strong dizziness, her memory quickly returned.
"Yan Shaoyou!" She sat up suddenly and faced Yan Shaoyou who was looking back at her from the driver's seat.
"Wanwan, you're awake." Yan Shaoyou's tone was gentle and calm. "Don't get excited. The road is uneven. Be careful not to bump into anything. We will be at the Dawn Base soon. It will be absolutely safe there."
"Stop the car! Yan Shaoyou, you are kidnapping me!" Su Wan tried to open the car door, but found it was locked.
"I'm protecting you." Yan Shaoyou raised his voice a little, "People like Lu Shiyan will only bring you danger! Come back to me, come back to the base, father will arrange everything, you and the child will get the best care!"
"You're crazy! Lu Shiyan won't let you go!" Su Wan's chest heaved violently.
"For you, I don't care." Yan Shaoyou's profile seemed a little distorted under the dim light of the dashboard. "Wanwan, you are just temporarily blinded. When you calm down, you will understand my painstaking efforts." He seemed to want to reach out and touch her.
Su Wan shouted, "Don't touch me!" She turned to the soldier in the driver's seat and said, "Stop the car! Otherwise I will be rude!"
The soldier looked straight ahead, obviously only obeying Yan Shaoyou's orders.
"Wanwan, you are too tired. Don't be so excited." Yan Shaoyou's voice became soft again, but Su Wan felt an inexplicable chill. "You need to rest for a while and have a good sleep. When you wake up, we will be not far from the base."
As he spoke, Su Wan felt a slight drowsiness coming over her again. She bit the tip of her tongue hard, and the pain made her a little more awake.
This bastard is indeed weird!
"Wanwan, don't hold on any longer. Go to sleep. Everything will be fine." Su Wan's last consciousness was his peach blossom eyes that looked particularly deep in the dim light, and then he completely lost consciousness.
