Chapter 20: Because she is pregnant with your child?

He used the force to retreat and kicked Lu Shiyan in the lower abdomen.

Lu Shiyan dodged sideways, and the wind from his fist brushed past Xiao Han's earlobe.

The two of them immediately started fighting each other.

In the small space of the study, the only sounds were heavy breathing, the sound of bodies colliding, and the occasional thud of objects being knocked over and falling to the ground.

Xiao Han was a little embarrassed at first, but he quickly adjusted himself and his movements became more tricky and skillful.

The two men knocked over chairs, and their leather shoes made a harsh sound as they rubbed against the carpet.

Lu Shiyan grabbed Xiao Han by the collar and threw him against the wall.

"Boom!" The walls seemed to shake.

He leaned against the wall. He was breathing heavily, with a trace of blood at the corner of his mouth. "So angry?"

Xiao Han's voice was hoarse and mocking. He wiped the corners of his mouth with the back of his hand.

"Because she's pregnant with you?"

"Or is it because...she is pregnant with your child?"

Lu Shiyan did not answer, but just took a step forward.

"Don't be anxious, Mr. Lu."

Lu Shiyan clenched his hands. His joints made a crackling sound. He raised his leg and kicked Xiao Han fiercely.

The sound of intense fighting.

Su Wan was not disturbed from her deep sleep. It was the hunger that woke her up.

She opened her eyes blearily, and the only light in the room was the faint moonlight coming through the gaps in the curtains.

She supported herself on the edge of the bed and sat up slowly.

The cool touch of her bare feet on the floor sobered her up a little.

Holding on to the wall, I moved downstairs step by step. A dim night light was on in the living room, and a figure was curled up on the sofa.

It’s Aunt Zhang.

Hearing the noise, Zhang's mother immediately sat up straight and rubbed her eyes. "Oh, you're awake? I thought you would be hungry in the middle of the night." Zhang's mother's voice was hoarse from just waking up.

She walked quickly to the dining room, "Come on, I'll warm it up for you." The table was already filled with a few light side dishes, a bowl of warm soup, and spicy chicken.

The aroma of food filled the air, warm and satisfying.

Aunt Zhang handed her the bowl and chopsticks. "Eat slowly, there's more if you're not full." Looking at the steaming food in front of her, she listened to Aunt Zhang chattering about the precautions to take during early pregnancy.

Su Wan's eyes suddenly felt hot.

In this cold and calculating place, this was the first warmth she felt after entering the book.

In the original novel, this servant was the first person to seek refuge with the heroine after her death, but ended up with a miserable fate.

She picked up the chopsticks, picked up a piece of food and put it into her mouth. It was delicious.

My stomach felt warm and the empty feeling was quickly filled.

She ate quietly, and Aunt Zhang watched beside her, adding some soup to her meal from time to time. "Eat more. There are two of us now. You can't go hungry."

This time, she ate extra much and the food tasted especially delicious, and a slight curve unconsciously appeared on her lips.

Aunt Zhang looked at her and laughed too. "That's right, relax and take good care of her."

Lu Shiyan stood in the deep shadows at the corner of the stairs. He saw Zhang Ma busy at work and heard her gentle instructions.

How long did he stand there? Maybe just a few seconds, maybe longer. In the end, he turned back to the room without making any sound.

Ever since the little guy came into her body, Aunt Zhang's recipe has completely changed.

Three meals a day are carefully matched, and nourishing soups are never absent.

There was boiled fish on the table today, with red oil boiling and bright peppers.

When Aunt Zhang brought it, she deliberately placed it in front of her.

"Since you like this recently, I added more spiciness to it."

As expected, she touched that dish first, picked up a piece of fish, and ate it slowly and carefully.

Aunt Zhang watched from the side and went into the house with a smile. When she came out, she held a small pile of clothes in her hands. "Here, look, I prepared it a long time ago."

It was a baby jumpsuit, light yellow and soft pink, with soft material. "It's hard to find good fabric in this world, luckily I stocked up a lot before." Aunt Zhang muttered, spreading the small clothes one by one on the empty space next to her.

Small cuffs, delicate buttons. She put down her chopsticks and looked at the soft fabric.

Lu Shiyan also looked over, then looked away.

Aunt Zhang picked up the smallest one and said, "It will be perfect to wear when the baby is born."

"Mother Zhang, there are too many preparations."

"Too many? How can it be too much?" Aunt Zhang stroked the small clothes, her eyes a little distant.

"When I was young, I was also pregnant." The voice became low, with a hint of unspeakable pain.

"I didn't save it. Life was hard back then and I had no experience... it's gone just like that." She sighed, her eyes a little red.

"Afterwards, I never got pregnant again. The biggest regret in my life is that I didn't have a child of my own."

She looked at Su Wan's belly, her tone becoming gentle yet firm. "So, when I look at you, it's like looking at my own hope. How could I not know that it wasn't easy for you to have this child? Poor appetite, poor sleep... I was the same at that time. But no matter how difficult it is, you have to hold on. For this little guy, everything is worth it."

She patted Su Wan's hand and said, "Just take care of it and don't worry about anything else. I'm here to take good care of you and your mother."

She looked at Zhang Ma's slightly red eyes and at the soft little clothes.

The warmth in my stomach instantly rushed to my heart. "Auntie Zhang..."

"Hey, why are you saying all this? Eat more." Aunt Zhang continued to organize the small clothes.

Su Wan picked up the chopsticks again and picked up another piece of fish soaked in red oil.

Fragrant, spicy, and stimulating to the taste buds, she ate a full bowl of rice in one breath and ordered a second bowl.

Xiao Han, who was standing not far away, couldn't help but sigh. "This is really..."

He glanced at her still slender waist. "One person eats, two people nourish. Such a thin waist can eat so much."

Lu Shiyan, who was sitting opposite him, tapped his fingers lightly on the edge of the table.

Xiao Han immediately stopped talking, touched his nose, and said no more.

She seemed not to hear it and ignored Xiao Han. She had already discovered that this man was used to saying things that were unpleasant to hear.

She finished her second bowl, then her third, and even her fourth. She reached for the boiled fish with her chopsticks again, picked up a piece and put it into her mouth.

My stomach feels uneasy today, so I have to eat more.

You can lose anything but not yourself.

Her morning sickness was still very severe, and she always felt like something was burning in her stomach, surging up in waves.

Sometimes I could eat half a bowl of the food Aunt Zhang brought me, but sometimes I couldn't help retching just by smelling it.

The medicines Lu Shiyan brought back from her trip were placed on the bedside table, in colorful boxes and bottles. She followed Zhang Ma's instructions and swallowed the pills every day.

The effect of the medicine seemed minimal. Morning sickness was not something that could be easily cured by a few pills.

When it's time to vomit, the body is not vague at all.

She slept most of the time. Her eyelids felt heavy and her mind was hazy. When she curled up in bed, she didn't even have the strength to turn over.

I was hungry when I woke up, so hungry that I felt anxious.

Eat, vomit, sleep.

The days are cut into simple cycles that repeat themselves over and over again.

Three o'clock in the morning.

Lu Shiyan sat up suddenly, the bed sheets were soaked with cold sweat and stuck to his skin.

In the darkness, he could clearly feel a strange energy rushing through his body, like countless tiny electric currents running through his blood vessels, bringing a burning pain and an unfamiliar sense of power.

"Finally..." He whispered, his voice hoarse from just waking up.

He held out his right hand, palm facing up.

The air seemed to twist for a moment, and a ball of faint orange-red flame slowly condensed and jumped in his palm, emitting faint but real heat and illuminating the distinct outline of his finger bones.

Fire. Just as he expected.

Outside the corridor, very light footsteps were heard approaching from afar.

Lu Shiyan suddenly closed his five fingers, the flame went out silently, and the remaining heat remained in his palms.

The door was opened a crack from the outside and Xiao Han leaned in.

"I feel it." Xiao Han's voice was filled with an uncontrollable wave of emotion. "You've awakened again?"

Lu Shiyan said nothing, but spread his hands again. The flames rose again, more stable and brighter than before.

"Great!" Xiao Han almost high-fived, "We can go now!"

Lu Shiyan withdrew his hand and let the flames dissipate into the air. "Not yet."
