He often fell into dreams on nights like this, returning to the prosperous and peaceful world of the past, where there were brightly lit streets, people's faces were filled with happy smiles, and the bustling market was filled with laughter.
However, when he awoke from his sweet dream, the harsh reality of reality struck him like a sledgehammer, leaving him dizzy and dazed. He was left facing the cold cave, where the stone walls emanated a damp chill that relentlessly attacked his body. Everything around him seemed so unfamiliar and unknown, and the future was like an impenetrable fog, leaving him feeling deeply confused and terrified.
He stared at the pitch-black cave ceiling, his eyes empty and helpless. The stark contrast between the good old days and the hardship of the present filled his heart with endless pain and despair. He didn't know when these days would end, nor did he know if he still had the courage to face the unknown and dangerous future.
One day, Xiao Yi was exploring the cave as usual. The cave was filled with a damp and cold atmosphere, and the weak light made everything look hazy.
He took cautious steps, holding the homemade torch tightly in his hand, and the dancing flame barely illuminated the limited space around him. Just when he was about to give up hope, he accidentally discovered an underground passage in a difficult corner deep in the cave.
The entrance to the passage was covered by time and dust. If he had not kicked a loose stone by chance, and the stone rolled to the side, revealing this secret place, he would probably never have discovered it.
As Xiao Yi approached the entrance to the passage, an old and mysterious atmosphere hit him. He raised the torch and tried to see the situation inside the passage clearly, but where the firelight reached, there was only endless darkness and cold stone walls.
The entrance to the passage was narrow and low, forcing him to bend down to barely enter. As soon as he stepped into the passage, the ground beneath his feet felt strange, as if no one had walked on it in years. The walls were covered in water droplets, which dripped onto his shoulders, bringing a chill.
His heartbeat involuntarily quickened, filled with curiosity and a hint of fear. Where did this passage lead to? Was it hope or deeper despair? Xiao Yi took a deep breath, gripped the torch tightly, mustered his courage, and slowly walked deeper into the passage.
Filled with curiosity, he quietly explored the passage. The faint light of the fire flickered in the darkness, stretching and shortening his figure. The passage was filled with a stale and decaying smell. The ground beneath his feet was damp, and occasionally he would step on a few loose stones, making a startling sound.
Xiao Yi's breathing became more and more rapid, and his heartbeat was particularly clear in this silent passage. With every step he took, he looked forward to making new discoveries, while at the same time being alert to possible dangers.
Finally, after a long search, the end of the passage appeared before his eyes. However, to his surprise, there was a secret room hidden there. The door of the secret room was tightly closed, covered with traces of time and some strange symbols, as if telling a story of the past.
He stood before the door, hesitating for a moment before finally reaching out and gently pushing it. The door slowly opened, and an even more mysterious aura filled the air. He raised his torch and peered inside, only to see a secret room filled with old items.
There were dusty bookshelves piled high with yellowed books and volumes that seemed to contain some forgotten knowledge. In the corners lay several ancient chests, their locks rusted, as if they had not been opened in a long time.
The walls were covered with blurry portraits, the expressions of the characters in the paintings mysterious and elusive. In the center of the secret room, there was a huge stone table, on which were placed some strange instruments and tools. He had never seen such things before and had no idea what they were used for.
Xiao Yi's eyes swept over these items, his heart filled with doubts. Who had built this secret room? What unknown secrets were hidden within it? He felt as if he had stepped into a corner forgotten by time, about to uncover a long-forgotten history.
In the secret room, the dim firelight flickered, illuminating the ancient documents and objects. The documents were piled layer upon layer on the old wooden table, the paper yellowed and fragile, as if it would crumble into pieces at the slightest touch. Xiao Yi carefully picked up a document. The handwriting on it was blurred, and he had to move closer to the firelight to carefully decipher it.
Some items were scattered on the ground in a disorderly manner, including metal utensils of strange shapes with complex patterns engraved on their surfaces; and boxes inlaid with gems. Although the gems had lost their former glory, they still exuded a mysterious atmosphere.
Xiao Yi was concentrating on reading these documents, his brows furrowed, his eyes unblinking. Gradually, his expression became solemn, because he found that these seemingly unrelated documents and items seemed to be pointing to a common direction - the origin of the apocalypse.
Every line of blurry handwriting, every strange symbol, was like a key, trying to open the door to the hidden truth. His heartbeat became increasingly rapid, and his hands trembled slightly with excitement.
It was as if someone who had been groping in the dark for a long time suddenly saw a ray of light. Xiao Yi felt like he had grabbed a life-saving straw. He firmly believed that as long as he dug deeper along these clues, he would be able to find a way to save this broken world.
A flame of hope ignited in his eyes, a light of determination and persistence. In this cold and dark chamber, Xiao Yi seemed to have forgotten everything and devoted himself to the study of these clues, as if the fate of the entire world depended on his discovery at this moment.
