Chapter 647 Mudslide

Xiao Yi woke up each morning and immediately set to work on perfecting the shelter. He carried heavy timbers, walking resolutely towards the damaged corners of the shelter. Beads of sweat rolled down his forehead, but he didn't bother to wipe them away. He swung the hammer vigorously again and again, nails firmly hammered into the boards, strengthening the shelter's structure.

Meanwhile, his mind never strayed from the mysterious clues. Whenever he took a break from his work, he would quickly pull out his notebook, densely filled with his initial interpretations and questions. He sat on a rock, his brow furrowed, his eyes fixed on the handwriting in his notebook, lost in deep thought.

Sometimes, to verify an idea, he would rush back to the secret room and search through the piles of documents and items, not caring even if his hands were covered in dust. The afternoon sun slanted into the shelter, and Xiao Yi was still busy. He used the newly collected thatch to thicken the roof to withstand the coming wind and rain.

At night, when everything around him was quiet, Xiao Yi would carefully study the mysterious clues again under the dim oil lamp. His fingers gently stroked the ancient symbols on the documents, muttering to himself, trying to decipher the hidden code.

Day after day passed, Xiao Yi ran back and forth between perfecting the shelter and deciphering the mysterious clues, without a single slackness. His eyes were filled with determination and persistence, as if as long as he didn't stop, he would definitely find the key to saving the world.

Xiao Yi's heart was like a turbulent ocean, with waves of hope and despair constantly crashing against him. Sometimes, when he seemed to have found a key clue in deciphering the clues, or made a small progress in improving the shelter, the light of hope would shine in his eyes. He would imagine that he was about to uncover the secret of the apocalypse and find a way to save the world. At that moment, his heart was filled with strength, as if he saw the beautiful vision of mankind returning to a peaceful life.

However, more often than not, he encountered numerous difficulties and setbacks. Those mysterious clues, like forking paths in a maze, repeatedly led him into confusion. The construction of the shelter would also stagnate due to lack of resources or accidental damage. At these times, despair would pounce on him like a giant monster, claws and fangs bared, trying to devour him.

In this interweaving of hope and despair, Xiao Yi struggled constantly. He cried alone countless times in the middle of the night, questioning whether his persistence was still meaningful; he also looked at the distant horizon countless times at dawn, feeling extremely lonely and helpless.

But every time, when he thought of the responsibility he shouldered and the future of mankind, he would grit his teeth and pick himself up again. He knew that he could not give up, and he would hold on tightly to even the slightest hope.

He often said to himself silently: "I am not fighting for myself alone, I am fighting for everyone." This belief was like a fire burning in his heart, which would never be extinguished no matter how fierce the wind and rain were.

Xiao Yi dragged his exhausted body and continued to grope forward in the darkness. Although his eyes were full of fatigue, his determination and persistence never wavered. Because he knew that every effort he made could be a step towards light for mankind; every time he persisted, it could be a stroke that rewrites history.

Just when Xiao Yi was filled with joy and felt that he was gradually approaching the truth, the sky suddenly changed color. The originally clear sky was quickly covered by rolling dark clouds, and darkness instantly enveloped the earth.

The wind howled and swept in, emitting a sharp roar, like the horn of doom. Then, bean-sized raindrops came crashing down, each drop like a heavy lead ball, hitting the ground.

The rain poured down like a river bursting its banks, washing away everything in the world. Xiao Yi watched helplessly as the rain gathered into a rushing stream on the ground, and a sense of foreboding welled up in his heart.

Not long after, a dull rumble erupted from the distant mountain, as if the earth were groaning in pain. As the rumble grew louder, a landslide began. Huge rocks and surging mud and rock torrents tore down like wild beasts, carrying the momentum to destroy everything.

Xiao Yi's shelter seemed incredibly fragile in the face of this violent force. Parts of the wall collapsed instantly, and the roof was smashed through by boulders, making a heartbreaking cracking sound. His carefully built home was completely destroyed in a short period of time.

The supplies he had painstakingly stockpiled were not spared either. The boxes of food were soaked in mud and water, and the grain became moldy and spoiled; the barrels of stored water were knocked over, and the water overflowed; the precious medicines were buried under the rubble, and it was unknown whether they could still be used.

Xiao Yi looked at the mess before him, his heart aching as if it were being torn apart. His eyes were bloodshot, and a mixture of rain and tears flowed down his cheeks. At this moment, despair once again enveloped him like a shadow, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.

The sky seemed to be torn apart by an invisible giant hand, and endless darkness surged out, quickly engulfing the entire world. A super-torrent of rain poured down like a collapsing river in the sky. The raindrops were no longer ordinary drops of water, but heavy shells, frantically bombarding the earth.

The wind howled, forming violent whirlpools that tossed anything it could pick up into the air. Trees swayed painfully in the wind, branches snapped, leaves torn to pieces, and swept into the chaotic storm.

The rain formed an impenetrable curtain of water, shrouding the sky and earth in a hazy haze. Each drop of rain carried destructive force, striking the ground, sending up splashes of water more than a man high and instantly forming countless turbulent streams.
