The zombie's limbs grew immensely thicker, muscles bulging, veins bulging, and sharp bone spurs sprouting from its joints. Every movement produced a sharp, air-breaking sound. Its fingers were no longer fingers, but long, curved claws that flashed with a chilling cold light.
Huge pustules protruded from its back, oozing pus from time to time and emitting a nauseating stench. These pustules seemed to be constantly throbbing, as if some terrifying creature was gestating inside.
When it roared, the sound was no longer a simple roar, but a deep, infernal roar that shook the air around it. Its movements also became incredibly agile, capable of covering distances of dozens of meters in an instant, leaving no time for anyone to react.
Anyone who sees this mutated zombie will be frightened to the point of having their legs go weak and their heart and liver break.
The fused zombies strangely grew octopus-like tentacles on their bodies. These tentacles were a disgusting dark gray in color, covered with sticky liquid, and shimmered with a strange luster in the dim light.
The tentacles are incredibly long, some even extending several meters. They are incredibly flexible and resilient, and can pop out of the zombie's body in an instant, attacking at incredible speeds and angles.
The tentacles are covered with dense suction cups, each with sharp spines on the edge. When the tentacles reach out to their prey, the suction cups will instantly attach to the prey's body, and the spines will penetrate deeply into the prey's skin, making it difficult for it to break free.
Furthermore, these tentacles moved with lightning speed. Before the prey could react, they had already entangled it like a net. The more the prey struggled, the tighter the tentacles tightened, as if possessing their own consciousness and power.
Sometimes, several tentacles will attack simultaneously, encircling the prey from different directions, leaving it with nowhere to escape. Once captured by the tentacles, the prey will be quickly pulled close to the zombie, waiting to be torn apart and devoured by the zombie's bloody mouth.
These zombies with octopus-like tentacles have become terrifying hunting machines, plunging the entire world into deeper despair and fear.
What's even more terrifying is that the intelligence of these merged zombies seems to have been mysteriously enhanced. They are no longer the walking corpses that only knew how to attack blindly and rush around.
Now, when they gather together, they display an organized, planned pattern of movement, communicating with strange, deep growls as if they are discussing battle strategy.
Before attacking, they will first send out a few zombies as scouts to quietly approach the target and observe the surrounding environment and the prey's defenses. Then, these scouts will quickly return and convey information to other zombies through unique sounds and movements.
When they decide to attack, they no longer rush forward in unison, but instead work in a clear division of labor and coordinate with each other. Some zombies will attract the prey's attention, feinting from the front to create chaos, while others will use their own advantages to quietly approach from the side or rear and launch a fatal attack.
In teamwork, they also know how to take advantage of the terrain and environment. For example, they will drive prey into narrow passages, leaving them nowhere to escape, or lead prey into areas with traps, trapping them.
Even when faced with strong resistance, they will temporarily retreat, readjust their tactics, look for weaknesses in their prey, and then launch another more fierce and effective attack.
This increase in intelligence and the ability to collaborate in teams and plan tactics make them even more formidable and difficult enemies, posing unprecedented challenges to humanity in their fight against them.
However, the situation soon developed like a wild horse that had broken free from its reins, completely out of the control of this group of enemies.
Initially, they thought everything was progressing steadily according to their carefully planned conspiracy, and their faces were filled with pride and confidence. But in the blink of an eye, the situation took a sharp turn for the worse.
The vanguard they had sent out was supposed to break through the defenses with unstoppable force, but they encountered unexpectedly stubborn resistance. The enemy's defenses were far stronger than they had anticipated, with fierce firepower and sophisticated tactics, which put the vanguard in a difficult position and caused heavy casualties.
Commanders in the rear began to panic, issuing hastily conflicting orders that plunged the troops into chaos. Soldiers were at a loss, some charging blindly while others retreated.
At the same time, serious disagreements arose within the ranks. Some advocated continuing the offensive, achieving their objectives at all costs, while others advocated a temporary retreat and reassessment of the situation. The fierce arguments nearly paralyzed the chain of command.
To make matters worse, the intelligence system they relied on also had fatal errors. The people they thought were allies suddenly turned against them, dealing them a heavy blow from behind.
The situation on the battlefield spiraled out of control, with the enemy's forces fragmented and unable to effectively coordinate operations. Supply lines were also cut, and ammunition and food were becoming increasingly scarce.
The weather seemed to be against them, with strong winds and heavy rain coming unexpectedly, making their actions even more difficult.
The enemy watched helplessly as their carefully planned plan collapsed step by step, but they were powerless to reverse the situation. Despair and helplessness spread across everyone's face.
These mutated zombies were originally able to move under some kind of control of this group of enemies, but suddenly, they became extremely violent and completely lost signs of being under control.
