Chapter 681: Going Out to Exchange Supplies 2

Xiao Yi saw this scene through the rearview mirror and was overjoyed. He knew that this was a rare opportunity and stepped on the accelerator again without hesitation.

The armored vehicle's engine roared even more violently, and its speed instantly increased. The wheels spun rapidly, kicking up a thick cloud of dust that temporarily enveloped the zombies behind it.

As the armored vehicle accelerated, the distance between it and the zombies behind it gradually widened. Those terrifying figures that were once so close slowly became smaller and smaller.

Xiao Yi's tense nerves relaxed a little, but his hands still tightly gripped the steering wheel, not daring to slack off in the slightest.

He stared straight ahead with a determined gaze, constantly keeping an eye on the road conditions in the alley. The car sped through the narrow space, sparks flying from the car body against the wall from time to time.

Finally, thanks to Xiao Yi's efforts, most of the zombies were left far behind. Only a few stubborn zombies were left, still desperately chasing, but their speed could no longer keep up with the armored vehicle.

Xiao Yi continued to accelerate until he could no longer see any trace of zombies behind him. He breathed a sigh of relief, but he knew that the danger was not completely over, so he had to remain vigilant and keep moving forward.

However, although he had temporarily escaped the pursuit of most zombies, Xiao Yi knew very well that he was not completely out of danger.

The road ahead was still full of unknowns. No one knew whether a new threat would emerge around the next corner. His nerves remained tense, not daring to relax even a little.

Xiao Yi was driving the armored vehicle in the alley, his mind working rapidly. He knew that time was running out and every minute and every second was crucial.

He kept scanning the surroundings, searching for any possible safe place. But the area seemed to have been abandoned for a long time, with dilapidated houses and deserted streets everywhere, and no place that looked like it could provide real shelter.

"I must find a safe place as soon as possible." This thought kept echoing in his mind.

He was also concerned about the condition of the armored vehicle. After the intense fighting and escape, the vehicle had suffered significant damage. The engine occasionally made unusual noises, as if protesting its excessive use.

Moreover, he has very little ammunition left. If he encounters a large number of zombies or other dangers again, he will be unable to fight back.

Xiao Yi's brows were furrowed, and his heart was filled with anxiety. He knew that returning to the base was his only goal, but before that, he had to solve the problems before him.

He took a deep breath, trying to stay calm as he considered his next course of action. He knew that if he wasn't careful, all his previous efforts would be wasted, and he would be in an irretrievable situation.

Xiao Yi drove the battered armored vehicle slowly forward in this completely unfamiliar place. The road was bumpy and the armored vehicle was shaking violently. Every shake made his heart tighten.

The surrounding scene became increasingly desolate, with abandoned buildings like silent tombstones, telling the story of past prosperity and present silence. Xiao Yi's eyes eagerly shuttled through these ruins, eager to find a trace of life, even if it was just a faint ray of hope.

His heartbeat was particularly clear in the silence, as if it was the only sound in this desolate world. Sweat continued to drip from his forehead and onto his hands that were tightly gripping the steering wheel, but he was completely unaware.

Xiao Yi's lips trembled slightly, and he prayed silently in his heart: "God, please give me a chance to survive. Let me find a safe corner so that I can repair the armored vehicle, replenish ammunition, and let me return to the base alive."

His eyes were filled with a desire for survival and fear of the unknown. Every time he passed a junction and saw a new scene, he secretly hoped for a miracle to happen.

The wind poured in through the broken car window, ruffling his hair, but it couldn't blow away the fog of anxiety and prayer in his heart. Xiao Yi knew that in this strange and dangerous place, every step forward could be a step into the abyss, but he had no choice but to bite the bullet and continue moving forward, pinning all his hopes on that slim glimmer of hope.

Xiao Yi tightly gripped the shaking steering wheel and drove the armored vehicle with frequent malfunctions. Under the cover of night, he plunged into the woods like a reckless beast.

The dim moonlight filtered through the leaves, dappling the vehicle's hull. The armored vehicle's engine wheezed laboriously, as if it would stall at any moment. The malfunction indicator light on the dashboard flashed frantically, warning of various dangers.

The wheels rolled with difficulty on the uneven ground, getting stuck on rocks and potholes from time to time, causing the car to shake violently. Xiao Yi was thrown all over the place, but he still stepped on the accelerator firmly, trying to maintain the vehicle's forward momentum.

The branches in the woods were like devilish hands, constantly scraping against the car body, making sharp, piercing sounds. Some branches even hit the windshield directly, leaving a series of terrifying scratches.

Xiao Yi's eyes were bloodshot as he struggled to discern the road ahead in the darkness. His face was filled with tension and anxiety, and sweat kept dripping, blurring his vision. But he had no time to wipe it off. He could only rely on instinct and the little vision he had left to control the armored vehicle, which could lose control at any moment.

As the armored vehicle advanced deeper, the forest grew denser and denser, making progress increasingly difficult. Thick tree trunks blocked the path, forcing Xiao Yi to frequently turn the steering wheel, searching for a gap through which he could pass. Meanwhile, the low bushes constantly tugged at the vehicle's chassis, producing a heart-wrenching frictional sound.

In this chaotic darkness, Xiao Yi and his armored vehicle seemed like lone adventurers, forging ahead amidst unknown dangers, searching for a glimmer of hope for survival. Gripping the trembling steering wheel, Xiao Yi drove the malfunctioning armored vehicle like a desperate beast, taking advantage of the night to plunge headfirst into the woods.
