Shouts, screams, and explosions mingled like a sonata from hell. Buildings at the base collapsed under the barrage, and flames shot up into the sky, illuminating the dark sky.
Xiao Yi clenched his fists tightly, his nails digging deep into his palms. He knew that this was a battle that concerned the survival of the base. They could not retreat, they could not fail. But facing such a powerful enemy, whether they could hold on was still unknown.
"Everyone hold on!" Xiao Yi roared in the smoke. His voice was hoarse, but the fire of indomitable will still burned in his eyes.
Xiao Yi's face was blackened by the flames of war, and sweat mixed with dust left streaks on his face. His clothes were tattered, and several wounds were still bleeding, but he completely ignored the pain in his body.
He stood on a pile of ruins, surrounded by flying artillery fire and falling soldiers, shouting with all his might, his hoarse voice seeming to burst out from the depths of his soul.
"Don't retreat! We have no way out!" He brandished his weapon, his eyes fixed firmly on the battlefield ahead. Every word he spoke was filled with endless determination, trying to ignite the dying fighting spirit in the soldiers' hearts.
He swept his eyes over the exhausted but still persevering soldiers, his eyes full of encouragement and trust. "We fight for our homeland, for our loved ones!" His voice seemed so small amid the roar of gunfire, yet so moving.
Xiao Yi's throat was in unbearable pain from shouting continuously, but he did not stop. "As long as we unite as one, we will be able to hold on!" He seemed to want to use his voice to turn into a solid line of defense to block the enemy's attack.
Amidst his roar, the soldiers' eyes became resolute, they gritted their teeth and threw themselves into the fierce battle again. Xiao Yi's figure stood firm in the smoke, becoming an unshakable banner in everyone's heart, leading them to bravely move forward in this desperate battle.
The enemy's offensive was extremely fierce, and the base's defenses were in crisis at many points.
Shells rained down like raindrops, creating massive craters around the base. Flames shot up into the sky, black smoke billowed, and the once peaceful base was instantly engulfed in flames.
The enemy infantry surged in like a tide, well-equipped and tactically skilled, frantically attacking the base's defenses. Machine guns spewed flames, bullets whizzed through the air, and sparks flew across the base's fortifications.
The base's first line of defense crumbled under the enemy's fierce attack. The sandbag fortifications were blown to pieces by artillery shells, the barbed wire was cut, and the soldiers fought hard in the hail of bullets, but casualties continued to mount.
The flank defenses were also in trouble. The enemy sent in elite special forces, who quietly circumvented the weak point of the defenses and launched a surprise attack. The defending soldiers were caught off guard, and the defenses were instantly torn open, allowing the enemy to pour in like a flood.
The rear defenses were also under immense pressure. Enemy artillery fire extended, destroying the base's logistics supply points and medical stations. Supplies were scarce, and the wounded could not receive timely medical treatment, making the situation increasingly dire.
In the command center, alarms blared one after another, and the signalmen were busy and exhausted, with news of emergencies coming in from all lines of defense. Xiao Yi's face was terribly gloomy, and he clenched his fists, trying hard to think of a response strategy.
The air around the base was filled with the scent of death, and the soldiers' eyes were filled with despair and fear. Yet, they remained steadfast in their posts, defending the dignity of the base with their lives. However, under the enemy's fierce attack, the base's fate was like a candle in the wind, crumbling.
In some places, sandbags were blown up by artillery shells and floods began to pour in; in some places, the soldiers suffered heavy casualties and the defense line was shaky.
On one side of the base, a barrage of shells roared in, fiercely bombarding the sandbag defenses. With resounding explosions, the sandbags blew apart, leaving a gaping hole in the once-sturdy defenses. Like a beast freed from its cage, a raging flood surged through the gap. The murky water quickly spread, covering the soldiers' ankles and knees, leaving them icy cold.
The soldiers struggled to stand in the water, trying to block the gap with their bodies, but the impact of the flood was too great, and their efforts seemed so insignificant. The water kept hitting them, making their movements slow and difficult.
Elsewhere, the fighting reached a fever pitch. The enemy's firepower was incredibly fierce, and bullets were flying like locusts. The soldiers bravely resisted amidst the hail of gunfire, but casualties continued to mount.
Blood stained the ground red, and the sight of each fallen body was heartbreaking. The remaining soldiers' eyes were filled with grief, anger, and determination. They gritted their teeth and continued firing, but it was difficult to withstand the enemy's wave after wave of attacks.
The defense line trembled under the enemy's fierce attack, as if it would collapse at any moment. Some wounded soldiers, enduring the severe pain, still held their posts. Their consciousness was blurred, but they had never put down their weapons.
The once neat defense line was riddled with holes, and the soldiers' physical strength and energy were close to the limit. But the faith in their hearts supported them, and they would never retreat, even fighting to the last moment.
Xiao Yi personally led the reserve troops to the most dangerous areas to fill the gaps and fight a desperate battle with the enemy.
Xiao Yi's face was stern, his eyes revealing determination. He was wearing a worn but neat military uniform, with a pistol on his waist and a submachine gun in his hand. He walked firmly at the front of the reserve team.
The area they were heading towards was filled with smoke and flames. Shells exploded all around them, sending up dirt and rocks that rained down like raindrops. Xiao Yi was not afraid at all, shouting loudly to boost morale: "Brothers, follow me!"
