Just when everyone seemed at a loss, a careful team member discovered a peculiar scrap of fabric in a corner near the warehouse. It didn't look like the usual material at the base. This team member, Xiaolin, had been squatting in the weeds outside the warehouse, searching for any potential clue. As his gaze swept over a corner hidden by a rock, a peculiar color caught his eye. Cautiously, he crouched down and gently picked up the fragment with tweezers. The fragment was dark in color and had a rough texture, a stark contrast to the sturdy, durable fabrics typically found at the base. Xiaolin's heartbeat quickened, and he quickly stood up and ran towards Xiao Yi. "Captain Xiao Yi, I've found a crucial clue!" his voice trembled with excitement. Everyone quickly gathered around, their gaze fixed on the fragment in Xiaolin's hands. "This material..." Xiao Yi took the fragment and examined it carefully in his palm. "It's definitely not from our base." He frowned, lost in thought. "Could it have been left behind by an outsider?" one of the team members speculated. "It's possible, but we can't rule out the possibility that someone inside the base brought it in from outside." Xiao Yi's eyes grew sharper. "Either way, this is our most valuable clue so far." Everyone began to discuss the matter. Some suggested checking everyone's clothing in the base to see if they could find a match; others suggested expanding the search to see if there were any other relevant clues in the surrounding area. Xiao Yi raised his hand, signaling for silence. "Start by investigating within the base. At the same time, send people to the surrounding markets and other bases to inquire about the source of this fabric." This special piece of fabric seemed like a ray of light in the darkness, rekindling hope for the investigation that had been at a stalemate.
"This might be a crucial clue," Xiao Yi muttered, holding the fragment of fabric, lost in thought. Standing at the warehouse door, Xiao Yi clutched the newly discovered piece tightly in his hand. His gaze fixed on the fragment, a look of concentration and contemplation in his eyes. "This might be a crucial clue," he muttered, his voice low and filled with doubt. The sunlight shone down on him, but it couldn't dispel the heavy gloom that settled over his face. He gently ran his fingers over the fabric, feeling its rough, unfamiliar texture. The jagged edges of the fragment seemed to tell an untold story. Countless thoughts raced through Xiao Yi's mind. Where did this fabric come from? Was it accidentally left behind by an outsider, or was it intentionally stolen by someone within the base? If it was an outsider, how had they managed to enter the base undetected and steal it? If it was an insider, how had this person acquired such a rare piece of fabric? He recalled everyone he had questioned, trying to find any clues in their words and actions that might lead to the fabric, but nothing came to his mind. Xiao Yi frowned, lost in deep thought. The team members around him all looked at him quietly, not daring to disturb him. Time seemed to stand still, with only a gentle breeze blowing, ruffling the corners of his clothes. "No matter what, we must find a breakthrough from this piece of cloth." Xiao Yi secretly made up his mind, his eyes becoming firm again. He took a deep breath, turned around and said to the team members: "Immediately start investigating this piece of cloth, and don't miss any clues!"
External suspicions. Xiao Yi began to wonder if an outside force had infiltrated the base and was carrying out the thefts. Alone in his office, Xiao Yi paced by the window, his hands clasped behind his back, his brow furrowed in a deep frown. The sunlight from the window cast a worried look on his face, but it couldn't dispel the gloom within him. "Could it really be an outside force?" he muttered, his voice thick with doubt and unease. Various scenarios began to play out in his mind: a group of strangers sneaking into the base under cover of darkness, evading all patrols and surveillance; or perhaps a hostile force meticulously planning, deploying highly trained agents familiar with every nook and cranny of the base and its security loopholes. Xiao Yi thought of the mysterious figures surrounding the base, the prying eyes from afar. Strangers he had once dismissed as mere passersby now seemed like potential threats. "If it's an outside force, is their goal simply to steal supplies? Or is there a deeper conspiracy?" The thought sent a chill through Xiao Yi. He knew that if an outside force infiltrated, the base's security would be catastrophic, and even more unforeseen dangers might lie ahead. He recalled his recent interactions and exchanges with other nearby forces, wondering if he had inadvertently exposed any weaknesses in the base, giving others an opportunity to exploit. Could these seemingly friendly collaborations be hiding ulterior motives? Xiao Yi paused, his gaze fixed firmly into the distance. "Whether or not it's an external force, I must get to the bottom of this!" He vowed silently, his fists unconsciously clenched, preparing for a greater storm that might be coming.
He dispatched a reconnaissance team to search and survey the perimeter of the base, searching for any possible signs of outsiders. Xiao Yi stood solemnly on the base's playground, before a well-equipped, high-spirited reconnaissance team. He fixed each member with a resolute gaze, his voice resonating loudly and forcefully: "Comrades, this mission is arduous, but it concerns the safety and future of the base. We must give our all and leave no trace!" The team responded in unison, their voices resounding through the air. They then quickly split into smaller groups and set off in orderly fashion in various directions surrounding the base. One group of reconnaissance soldiers cautiously advanced along the path outside the base, their eyes as sharp as hawks, scanning the grass and trees on either side. Every few steps, they paused to carefully examine footprints and fallen vegetation. Another group climbed a nearby hill, observing the distant scene through binoculars. The wind whipped their clothes around, but they remained motionless, intently scanning their field of vision for any suspicious movement. Other team members ventured into surrounding villages and abandoned houses, speaking with local residents and asking if they had seen any unfamiliar faces or unusual circumstances. During their search, the scouts left no stone unturned. They delved into dark, damp caves and waded through turbulent streams, searching for even the slightest clue that might lead to outsiders. As the sun gradually set, the scouts continued their bustle around the base. Their steps were resolute, their hearts fixed on a single conviction: to find any possible trace of the outsiders and safeguard the base's safety.
