Chapter 750 Internal Conflict

"No matter what, we can't just sit there and wait for death." Xiao Yi's voice echoed through the empty room, its intensity undeniable. His eyes burned with a fire of determination, as if to consume the current predicament. Xiao Yi took a deep breath and tightened his grip on the briefcase, which held the hard work and hopes of his team. He straightened his back, like a soldier about to embark on a battle, resolutely heading towards the unknown yet full of possibilities. The moment he stepped out of the door, sunlight streamed down upon him, but it couldn't dispel the gloom that hung over him. He knew that countless rejections and cold stares might await him, but he held no fear. He first visited the office downstairs of an industry veteran he had met briefly. Gazing at the towering building, he told himself, "This is the first step. I must take it." As he entered the building, every second in the elevator seemed to stretch by, his heart pounding. Upon meeting his senior, Xiao Yi sincerely explained their predicament and the value of his plan. Despite the senior's apprehension, he maintained a smile and respect, thanking him for taking the time to listen. Leaving there, Xiao Yi hurried to an influential investment firm. In the reception room, he anxiously waited, clutching his carefully prepared proposal, mentally rehearsing his words. When he finally faced the investment manager, Xiao Yi's voice trembled with nervousness, but his gaze remained steadfast. He meticulously explained the project's strengths and potential, leaving no detail untouched. All day, Xiao Yi's pace remained constant. Whether in the bustling commercial district or in the secluded entrepreneurial park, his hurried figure was visible. As night fell, the city lights shone brightly, and even as he dragged his exhausted body, he continued to think about the people he would visit tomorrow and what he would say. Although he didn't know what the future held, Xiao Yi firmly believed that as long as he persevered, he would find a glimmer of hope for his team.

The shock to the base's leadership was like a boulder dropped into a calm lake, instantly roiling the surface and triggering a fierce internal conflict. Disparate factions, previously hidden beneath a veneer of calm, now surfaced, like hungry wolves, engaging in a brutal and relentless struggle for limited power and resources. Each faction secretly gathered its strength and formed cliques. In the meeting room, they argued loudly, accusing each other of strategic errors and selfish motives. In heated exchanges, they even slammed the table, their faces red and their necks furious, completely losing their usual composure and rationality. To suppress their opponents, they resorted to any means necessary. Some factions deliberately leaked confidential plans, stalling projects; others spread rumors behind their backs, smearing their opponents' reputations and attempting to undermine their prestige within the base. The distribution of resources became the focal point of the conflict. Materials, funds, and manpower, which should have been distributed equitably, were now scrambled for by each faction. They disregarded the overall interests of the base, focusing solely on maximizing their own faction's profits. Lower-level employees were drawn into the conflict, forced to choose sides or struggle to survive in the cracks. Their priorities shifted from advancing the base's development to dealing with the infighting between factions. The base's management system collapsed, and orders could no longer be effectively communicated and executed. Departments bickered and shirked responsibility, leading to a sharp decline in efficiency. The once orderly base was now a chaotic mess. Documents were scattered, equipment was unmaintained, and project progress stalled. Amidst this chaos, the inter-factional struggles intensified, seemingly without end.

"This base is going to be in chaos!" This rumor spread like wildfire throughout the base. People gathered in small groups, faces etched with worry and fear, whispering to each other. A gray-haired veteran, sitting in a corner, sighed deeply and said, "I've worked at this base for decades, and I've never seen anything like this. I really don't know what to do next." His eyes betrayed uncertainty about the future and a longing for the more stable days of the past. A group of young technicians gathered together, one anxious young man saying, "Will all these projects we've worked so hard on be ruined by this chaos? I've poured my heart and soul into them." The others nodded, echoing his concerns, their hearts filled with uncertainty about their careers. In the cafeteria, several female workers ate their meals, their voices filled with worry. "Our families are counting on us to work hard at the base and earn more money. If chaos really breaks out, how will we make ends meet?" Their brows furrowed, their chopsticks unconsciously stirring their food. In the workshop, the roar of machinery couldn't drown out the chatter. A veteran worker paused, wiped the sweat from his brow, and said helplessly, "For so many years, the base has been perfectly organized. I never imagined it would be like this. It's truly disheartening." The apprentice beside him sighed, gripping his tools even tighter, as if trying to grasp a glimmer of certainty amidst the uncertainty. The voices were filled with resignation and helplessness, each word revealing a deep worry about the base's current state and a profound unease about the future. They had no idea when this chaos would end, or what their own fate would be.

Xiao Yi and his team found themselves in this chaotic situation, trapped in an invisible maze. Every possible path out was shrouded in fog and uncertainty, making every step difficult. They could stick to their original plan and forge ahead amidst the turmoil, hoping for an improvement. However, this would entail immense risk and pressure, and a lack of resources and support could render their efforts in vain. Alternatively, they could temporarily compromise, catering to the demands of certain factions in exchange for temporary peace and some resources. This would violate their original intentions and principles, and could even cost them control of the project. Alternatively, they could forge new paths, seeking new partners and resource channels. This was undoubtedly a risky venture, fraught with unknown challenges and difficulties, and the chances of success were slim. Xiao Yi, frowning, repeatedly discussed the pros and cons of each option with his team members. Their eyes betrayed exhaustion and confusion, yet they were unwilling to give up. Under the night light, beside a table piled high with documents and blueprints, Xiao Yi rubbed his temples and said hoarsely, "Every decision we make concerns our future, our efforts and dreams." The team members remained silent, each grappling with their own intense struggles. They pondered their past efforts, imagined the possible outcomes of the future, and their minds swung constantly. Should they take a risk or play it safe? This difficult decision weighed on their hearts like a heavy stone, leaving them breathless.
