Chapter 750 Internal Conflict

Should he stick with the original plan, or compromise temporarily and wait for the situation to stabilize? This question weighed heavily on Xiao Yi's mind, like a heavy yoke. "This is a matter of life and death," Xiao Yi muttered to himself, his gaze dark and confused. He sat alone in the dim office, the light casting shadows on his face. He recalled the ambition and passion he had felt when he had formulated the original plan, every detail, every goal seemingly etched in his mind. The original plan carried their dreams and hopes, the culmination of countless days and nights of hard work. To persist would mean swimming against the current in this precarious situation, facing a lack of resources, a lack of support, and pressure from all sides. But if successful, the prospect would be unparalleled, and all the hard work would be more than worth it. However, the thought of compromising kept lingering in his mind. Compromise meant surrendering pride and stubbornness, bowing to reality. Although it may bring temporary stability and allow them to find a moment of respite in the chaotic situation while waiting for the situation to gradually stabilize, it may also cause them to lose the initiative and be influenced by others. They may even gradually lose their way in the waiting process and lose their initial motivation and goals. Xiao Yi held his head with both hands, his fingers deeply inserted into his hair. His heart was struggling fiercely, and the two choices kept pulling at each other in his mind. He knew very well that this decision was not only related to his own future, but also to the fate of the entire team. The expectations and efforts of every member weighed heavily on his shoulders, making him dare not make a decision easily. As time passed, Xiao Yi was still immersed in deep thought. The night outside the window was getting darker and darker, but the answer in his heart was still unclear.

Inside the enclosed, oppressive space of the base, everyone's faces were filled with anxiety and fear. Their eyes wandered, and every slight sound set their nerves on edge as they trembled for survival. The lights were dim and weak, and the shadows on the walls seemed to speak of unease. Their breathing was particularly heavy in the silence, each inhale and exhale tinged with worry about the unknown fate. Just then, outside the base, the precursor to the terrifying superstorm quietly arrived. The once clear sky was slowly engulfed by a thick layer of dark clouds. At first, only a corner of the sky darkened, but the darkness spread with astonishing speed, as if a giant black hand was grasping the entire world. The wind gradually picked up. At first, it was just a gentle breeze, ruffling the hems of clothes and hair. But soon, the breeze became a violent gale, sweeping in with a howling force. Sand and gravel were swept up, flying wildly through the air, crashing against the base's outer walls with a crackling sound. The distant mountains grew blurred in the encroaching darkness, as if shrouded in a mysterious veil. A heavy, oppressive atmosphere hung in the air, as if a huge rock were pressing down on one's chest, making it difficult to breathe. The dark clouds grew thicker and darker, from inky black to deep purple, as if imbued with boundless energy. Faint electricity whirled through the clouds, occasionally flashing eerie lights, like demonic eyes peering down upon the earth. The people within the base, unaware of the impending catastrophe, continued to struggle with their current predicament.

The once peaceful sky, a clear blue canvas, stretched gracefully over the earth. White clouds drifted gracefully, and sunlight streamed down softly, bringing warmth and peace to the world. But in an instant, everything changed dramatically. As if painted by an invisible, giant hand, the sky was instantly dyed a mysterious and terrifying purple. The purple was so rich it seemed to drip, without a single transition, as if it had intruded directly into our world from another dimension. This purple wasn't the usual soft or vibrant hue, but a deep, oppressive hue filled with uncertainty and danger. It resembled a vast whirlpool, a bottomless swamp, once drawn in, it was impossible to escape, and a chilling chill washed over one's heart. The purple sky was devoid of white clouds, not even a trace of birds. The entire world seemed to have been muted, a terrifying silence. The sudden purple hue completely obscured the sunlight, and everything on earth was shrouded in a gloomy shadow. The distant mountains, against this eerie purple backdrop, became blurred, as if threatened to be swallowed by the terrifying sky at any moment. The trees trembled in the wind, their branches rustling as if they were wailing in despair at this apocalyptic scene. This mysterious and terrifying purple sky, like a foreshadowing of doom, filled everyone who witnessed it with a sense of insignificance and helplessness, their hearts filled with fear and awe of the unknown disaster.

"What's going on? Is a greater disaster about to strike?" People trembled, their voices filled with unconcealed fear. Their eyes widened, staring blankly at the discolored sky, as if under a spell. Disbelief and deep fear were written on every face, their eyes etched with despair. Some's lips trembled, unable to form a single complete sentence. Others clutched their heads, their bodies trembling, as if trying to hide themselves, to escape the unknown. The children burst into tears, their cries heartbreakingly echoing through the base. The adults, too, lost their composure. They clung to each other, seeking comfort and courage, but each one's eyes were filled with helplessness and confusion. The once orderly base was instantly plunged into chaos, with people running everywhere, calling out for their loved ones. Some rushed to the warehouse, frantically grabbing supplies, as if this would offer a glimmer of hope for survival; others knelt on the ground, praying to the heavens for protection. Fear spread like a plague, gripping the entire base with a panic. People's minds were filled with speculation and imagination about unknown disasters, each possibility horrifying them. The discolored sky was like a giant net, mercilessly devouring their hope and courage bit by bit.
