Chapter 793 A Lightning Battle

During a lull in the battle, Xiao Yi leaned against the rubble, panting heavily. Beads of sweat covered his forehead, trickling down his cheeks and onto his dusty uniform. The roar of gunfire around him had temporarily subsided, but his heart remained tense. Xiao Yi closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to calm himself. His mind raced, trying to make sense of the intense and chaotic battle. He recalled the zombie horde's movement patterns, their frenzied, surging momentum, and their seemingly unstoppable attack. He opened his eyes and scanned every corner of the battlefield with a sharp gaze. He observed the zombies' anatomy, pondering their movements. Was it the head? The joints? Where was the weak spot that could deliver a fatal blow? Xiao Yi stood up and cautiously approached the edge of the battlefield. He took cover, carefully observing the zombies' every move. He noticed that some of the zombies were moving more slowly, as if affected by some kind of damage. But he wasn't sure if this would be the key to a breakthrough. He looked back at the zombies, wondering if it was possible to get around them and attack from behind. But that meant crossing an unknown and dangerous area, which was extremely risky. As time passed, Xiao Yi's brow furrowed more and more, but he didn't give up. He continued to simulate various possible tactics in his mind, trying to find that glimmer of hope that could turn the tide of the battle.

Xiao Yi's expression was solemn, his gaze fixed firmly on the teams ready to go. He took a deep breath and began issuing orders. "You are entrusted with an important mission. You must be cautious!" His voice was steady and forceful. Each team member wore a serious expression, gripping their weapons tightly and nodding in agreement. The first team set out, tiptoeing eastward. Crouching low, the team members used ruins and obstacles for cover, advancing cautiously. Each step was taken with extreme caution, fearing the slightest sound would attract the attention of the zombies. The second team headed west, maintaining a tight formation and scanning their surroundings with vigilant eyes. They traversed the overgrown wasteland, avoiding corners that might harbor danger. The third team chose a southern route, their movements nimble and swift, sometimes pausing briefly behind low walls to observe their surroundings, and sometimes swiftly crossing open areas. As these teams advanced, their hearts were in their throats. They carefully surveyed the surrounding terrain, noting every possible hiding place and passage. They also closely monitored the zombies' movements, noting their frequency, direction, and distribution. A breeze brought a slight coolness, but it did nothing to alleviate the team members' inner tension. They knew their findings were crucial to the overall battle; any negligence could not only endanger their own lives, but also put everyone else in even greater danger. Time seemed to stretch endlessly, every minute and every second filled with uncertainty and challenges. But these brave team members refused to retreat, pressing forward resolutely towards their goal, determined to find a glimmer of hope and a chance for everyone to survive.

After a grueling exploration, Xiao Yi dragged his exhausted body back to camp. His eyes were filled with confusion and shock, for he had uncovered an incredible secret. Sitting in his simple tent, his brow furrowed, Xiao Yi replayed the details of his exploration in his mind. The zombies' movements seemed chaotic, but in reality, they held a strange pattern. Unlike ordinary zombies, who simply wandered and attacked blindly, they gathered with a clear purpose, toward their home. He recalled what he had seen at the rear of the herd: some of the zombies seemed to be drawn by an invisible force, their movements coordinated and unwavering, not instinctive. Furthermore, their gathering paths were not random, but rather followed a specific direction, as if directed by an invisible hand. Xiao Yi's thoughts grew increasingly alarming, and he began to carefully analyze the clues he had gathered. Was some mysterious signal guiding them? Or was there a hidden mastermind manipulating all this? He stood up again, marking the zombie gathering points and movements on the map, trying to uncover more patterns. With each mark, each connection, his doubts grew heavier. This discovery made Xiao Yi feel unprecedented pressure. If they could not find the source of this controlling force and stop it, their home would be doomed. But at the same time, he also understood that this secret might be the key to breaking the deadlock. As long as they could uncover it, they might find a way to fight the zombies and protect their home and loved ones.

Furthermore, behind the vast swarm of zombies, a mysterious figure loomed. Shrouded in a thick haze, its full form was difficult to discern. Xiao Yi peered through his binoculars, straining to discern the enigmatic figure. Wrapped in a vast black cloak, he stood tall and proud, yet exuding an indescribable eeriness. The mysterious figure's movements seemed slow, yet they held an irresistible majesty. Sometimes he raised an arm, as if issuing a command, and sometimes he remained motionless, as if observing the situation. Each time he moved, the zombies ahead shifted their direction or attack rhythm accordingly. It was as if he held invisible strings, the zombies his puppets. Xiao Yi tried to get closer, but feared being discovered and potentially in greater danger. The aura emanating from the mysterious figure filled Xiao Yi with a deep sense of unease and fear. From a distance, the figure seemed to be surrounded by a faint purple aura, making him even more mysterious. Xiao Yi secretly wondered who this mysterious person was, and why he was commanding these zombies to attack their homeland. Countless questions swirled in Xiao Yi's mind, but he knew that if he wanted to uncover the mystery, he would face enormous challenges and dangers.
