Chapter 835: Fighting Together 42

At this moment, the spacecraft suddenly shook violently.

"Report!" A soldier ran in in a panic, "Unknown spatial fluctuations detected!"

On the holographic projection, the originally calm starry sky suddenly twisted, forming a huge vortex.

"Damn it!" Commander Mark yelled. "It's a space rift! Everyone, get in position!"

Xiao Yi and the others were quickly taken to the safety cabin. Through the observation window, they saw a shocking scene: a huge black shadow was slowly emerging in the vortex.

"Is that... a spaceship?" Chen Feng was stunned.

But that was no ordinary spaceship. Its shape was constantly changing, as if it were made of liquid metal, and a strange light flowed on its surface.

Dr. Irene's voice came through the communicator: "It's the Observers! They've discovered us!"

Suddenly, a purple beam shot out from the object and hit the Aurora. The entire spacecraft shook violently and all the equipment began to malfunction.

"Energy shield failure!"

"Engine damaged!"

"Life support is about to shut down!"

Alarms blared one after another. Xiao Yi felt difficulty breathing, and the gravity system seemed to be failing.

At this moment, a device on his wrist suddenly lit up. It was a small trinket that Lin Xue had given him earlier.

"Brother Xiao Yi..." a familiar voice sounded, "I'm still here..."

Lin Xue's figure loomed in the holographic projection: "I have dispersed myself across the network... Now, let me protect you one last time..."

A stream of blue energy surged from the ornament, enveloping the entire safe cabin. The chaos outside seemed to fade away in an instant.

"Lin Xue..." Xiao Yi stretched out his hand to touch the projection, but his fingers passed through the shadow.

"Time is running out," Lin Xue said reluctantly, "I will teleport you to a safe place... Remember, the truth is far more complicated than you imagine... Be careful of the Earth Federation..."

Before he finished speaking, a dazzling white light engulfed everyone's sight...

When the white light dissipated, Xiao Yi found himself standing in an unfamiliar place. It looked like an abandoned laboratory, with broken instruments and scattered documents everywhere.

"Chen Feng? Doctor Li?" he shouted, but all he got in response was an echo.

The jewelry on his wrist had shattered, and Lin Xue's holographic projection had disappeared. Xiao Yi felt a pang of heartache, but he knew that now was not the time to be sad.

He began to examine his surroundings. Faded posters covered the walls of the lab, with phrases like "Space-Time Leap Project" and "Parallel Universe Research" written on them.

Suddenly, he found a computer that was still running. A line of words flashed on the screen:

"Warning: The space-time continuum has been breached. Parallel universe merging process has begun."

Xiao Yi frowned and was about to take a closer look when he heard a noise behind him. He quickly hid behind an instrument.

Two men in white coats walked in, and their conversation surprised Xiao Yi.

"Experiment X-137 performed beyond expectations," one of them said. "Not only did it successfully resist detection by observers, it also triggered a parallel universe channel."

"Yes," another replied, "but at the cost of its complete disintegration. But that's okay, we have backups."

Xiao Yi's heart skipped a beat: They are talking about Lin Xue!

"How are the other test subjects doing?"

"X-136 is performing well in Sector 3 and has successfully infiltrated the Earth Federation's upper echelons. X-138 has established a new base in the seventh parallel universe."

Xiao Yi felt cold all over. Lin Xue... was just one of many experimental subjects?

Just then, his foot accidentally touched the test tube on the ground, making a crisp sound.

"Who's there!" The two researchers immediately became alert.

Xiao Yi knew he was exposed and was about to rush out when he suddenly heard a familiar voice:

"It's me."

Chen Feng walked out from another direction with a gun in his hand.

"Chen Feng?" Xiao Yi whispered in surprise.

But Chen Feng didn't seem to hear. His expression was cold and unfamiliar. "It's just a routine inspection. You guys can continue working."

The two researchers breathed a sigh of relief and turned to leave.
