Chapter 56 Little Donkey
Lu Nange pulled out two more megaphones and a telescope from her system inventory.
She deftly snatched the bags of crystal cores from Chi Yanzhou and Lu Xici and replaced them with two backpacks.
They also stuffed three more hand grenades that the Armed Police Corps had found last time into each compartment.
Chi Yanzhou took the backpack, raised an eyebrow at Lu Xici, and said, "The 82-2 defensive grenade has a kill radius of 6 meters and a powerful shockwave. If we really use it..."
He Zhuo patted Lu Xici on the shoulder: "After you throw it, take off running and don't look back! Just run forward with all your might!"
Lu Xici slung his backpack over his shoulder, his jawline taut with a cold, hard curve.
Out of the corner of Lu Nange's eye, she saw Gu Qi, Chi Yi, and Gu Wan seemingly chatting with Wen Qing and Ji Xian, as if intentionally or unintentionally.
Da Ge, Wei Hao, and the others had their backs to them.
She grabbed Lu Xici and whispered, "Brother, Yan-ge, come with me! A-Ye, Zhuo-ge, keep an eye on things."
Turning to the other side of the alley, Lu Nange released two electric bikes.
"Can you ride?" she asked directly.
Chi Yanzhou and Lu Xici climbed onto the seat. Lu Xici said, "It's simpler than driving."
Lu Nange pressed down on the front of Lu Xici's car: "Brother, that's open space over there."
You turn on the music, leave your phone behind, and ride off on your electric scooter. Got it?
Lu Xici chuckled and ruffled her hair: "Underestimating your brother?"
"And me?" Chi Yanzhou looked at the brother and sister.
Lu Nange twitched the corner of her mouth. As the original male lead, you'll definitely be fine!
She thought for a moment and said dryly, "Run fast, come back alive!"
Chi Yanzhou smiled slightly and gave a soft "Mmm": "See you in a bit!"
Two figures riding electric bikes quickly disappeared from Lu Nange's sight.
Lu Nange turned around and returned to Lu Beiye and He Zhuo's side.
Looking at Chi Yi and the others, she said in a clear, cold voice, "My brother and Yan Ge have set off. Wanwan, Chi Yi, Wen Qing, and Ji Xian, you all need to be careful too!"
Gu Wan waved the walkie-talkie in her hand and grinned: "Don't worry, Nan Nan, as soon as the walkie-talkie rings, we'll rush over to provide backup."
She paused, then added, "Don't be stubborn. If it doesn't work, just abandon those supplies!"
Lu Nange nodded slightly, bent down and scooped up Lu Beiye.
"Brother Qi, Brother Zhuo is gone!"
Lu Beiye muttered to himself, resting his chin on Lu Nange's shoulder with a hint of resentment.
My legs are too short, which hinders my performance. When will I finally grow taller?
Da Ge kicked the tire and yelled at the tank, "Take care of yourself and watch the car!"
He then picked up the bag, tilted his head at Wei Hao and the others, and said, "Come on!"
The group followed Lu Nange, crept along the wall, and finally stopped behind a broken wall at the alley entrance.
The rough, mottled cement wall was scorching hot from the sun; you could feel the burning heat even through your clothes.
Everyone held their breath, and all that could be heard were the 'hoarse' sounds of the zombies.
...
Chi Yanzhou rode his electric bike at high speed toward the mountains to the north.
He controlled the car with one hand, and with the other hand he casually waved, several bolts of lightning struck down from the sky, instantly turning the zombies along the way into charred remains emitting blue smoke.
He parked his electric scooter at the foot of the mountain and then nimbly climbed up the steep slope.
The pebbles rolled down the soles of my shoes, and I didn't take out my binoculars until I reached the other side of the hillside.
After determining the location, he set up the Bluetooth speaker and then propped up the amplifier at an angle in front of the sound outlet.
Then they backed away towards the parking area.
On the other side, Lu Xici's little donkey bumped and sped along the garbage on the landfill road.
He couldn't describe whether the landfill smelled worse or the zombie horde smelled worse!
"Damn..." he muttered under his breath.
He stopped the car, looked up, took out the mask and gloves that Lu Nange had given him from his pocket, and then climbed to the top of the garbage heap.
The sound system and speakers were in place, just as he was halfway down the slope—
"Sizzle—"
The sudden crackling sound from the walkie-talkie made everyone tense up instantly.
Chi Yanzhou's clear voice came through: "Brother Ci, I'm all set!"
Lu Xici's response was brief and forceful: "Two minutes."
"Ten, nine... one!" Lu Xici sat on the electric scooter, holding binoculars and looking towards the direction of the zombies to his side and rear.
At the very moment the countdown ended, the Sanskrit chant of the Great Compassion Mantra suddenly resounded simultaneously from two directions.
Solemn chanting echoed through the ruins.
Gu Qi peeked out from behind the wall, raised his binoculars, and squinted slightly behind the lenses.
Lu Nange's light chestnut pupils contracted, and her mental energy expanded.
She could clearly "see"—in the direction of the landfill, those rotting bodies began to stagger and surge toward the source of the sound to the west and north.
"Go!" she exclaimed, her eyes snapping open.
The crowd immediately followed her and ran towards the storage yard.
The densely packed zombies split up like a tide, with most moving west and north.
Some of them still wandered aimlessly in the yard, making low growling noises.
As soon as they rushed into the storage area, Lu Beiye, Gu Qi, and He Zhuo tacitly formed a triangular formation, protecting Lu Nange in the center.
On the other side, Da Ge and Wei Hao and their group rushed towards the container area.
Taking advantage of the lull in Lu Beiye and the other two as they were killing zombies, Lu Nange released her mental energy once again.
The outline of the container of goods was clearly reflected in her mind.
Canned food, warm clothing, medicine, daily necessities, bicycles and electric vehicles, and even professional outdoor survival equipment, all clearly appeared in her mind.
She quickly sifted through the items and put all the necessities into the space.
She didn't put all the containers into her system backpack; she only took a small portion of them through the containers.
Fearing that supplies would be flooded, she had already taken possession of her own supermarket.
Ning City has not yet been flooded, and its resources may be the hope for others...
In the distance, lightning flashed across the northern mountains.
Flames soared into the sky over the western landfill, thick smoke billowed, and hordes of corpses twisted and howled amidst the flames.
Lu Nange scanned Da Ge and his group with her mental energy and saw that their backpacks were already bulging. She picked up the walkie-talkie and said sharply, "Let's go!"
Chi Yanzhou: "On our way!"
Lu Xici: "I'm back!"
Gu Wan: "Nan Nan, I'll meet you at the intersection!"
The group quickly retreated towards the alley entrance.
The moment Lu Nange bent down and picked up Lu Beiye—
With a whoosh, a thin, dark figure suddenly darted out from between the containers!
It was a little zombie wearing a floral dress, carrying a faded doll.
The rotting hem of her skirt dragged on the ground, and a hoarse sob escaped her throat.
His scarlet eyes, with pupils narrowed to pinpoints, stared intently at Gu Qi.
Gu Qi felt a sudden, sharp pain in his mind, as if countless tiny needles were piercing his nerves. His body froze in place, unable to move.
"Old Gu, get out of the way!" He Zhuo shouted and shoved him aside.
When Lu Nange's mental energy touched that thin figure, a bone-chilling coldness surged up her nerves.
A sharp, stabbing pain suddenly shot through my temple.
"Ugh—" she groaned, her vision darkening as countless black spots exploded and vanished before her eyes.
During this brief period of blindness, she felt the overwhelming mental pressure from the other party—a condescending gaze.
"Psychic zombies!" she managed to squeeze out the words through gritted teeth, cold sweat already soaking through the fabric of her clothes.
It's more advanced than her mental abilities, no wonder she didn't notice!
Seeing Lu Nange's distressed appearance, Lu Beiye's aura turned violent: "You're asking for death!"
"Pfft!"
The dart pierced the zombie's head with pinpoint accuracy, causing its head to snap back, its rotting limbs to twitch a few times, and its body to crash to the ground.
The moment the zombie fell, its sharp nails slashed across He Zhuo's arm, leaving a bloody mark from which dark red liquid slowly seeped out.
