Chapter 14 The Ultimate Weapon
The next day, a quiet night.
Lu Beiye crossed his arms, his chubby little face serious and earnest: "Let's go together! I'll protect you."
Lu Nange looked at the little boy's height: "Staying up late will affect your height!"
Lu Beiye gave her a haughty look: "From a genetic point of view, my height will not be less than 1.8 meters!"
"Okay, then you have to stay within my sight at all times!"
Lu Beiye muttered something under his breath and nodded.
Lu Nange extended her little finger: "Pinky promise."
"Childish." Lu Beiye looked disgusted, but his hands moved without hesitation.
With Lu Beiye by her side, Lu Nange had to pretend to go to the piano room to find equipment.
He rummaged through his system inventory and found a child's life jacket and onesie raincoat, then helped Lu Beiye put them on.
They went back in and pulled the assault boat out.
Lu Beiye glanced at the assault boat, his brow twitching. "Sigh, do they really think I'm stupid?"
Two figures, one tall and one short, left the house under the cover of night.
After Lu Nange closed the door, she saw Lu Beiye pick up the assault boat and waddle downstairs on his short legs.
Under the beam of the flashlight, Lu Nange was afraid that he would not be able to see the road and fall forward, so she quickly stepped forward and took the assault boat.
“I can carry it!” Lu Beiye shouted stubbornly.
Lu Nange offered plenty of emotional value: "Sister knows our A-Ye is strong, but sister is an adult."
How can we let children do heavy work!
"Quickly, help your sister hold the flashlight and lead the way."
The hallway was quiet. Lu Nange threw the assault boat out of the window.
She handed the rope to Lu Beiye, then nimbly flipped herself over and stood steadily on the assault boat.
Then they pulled Lu Beiye out of the window.
Lu Beiye...
The rain was still heavy, with dense raindrops hitting the water's surface and splashing up layers of water droplets.
The current was swift, and Lu Nange, thinking that Lu Beiye was also with them, rowed further away.
Relying on her memories from stockpiling goods two days prior, Lu Nange discerned her direction through the rain.
More than an hour later, the outline of a large shopping mall finally came into view.
Finding a window as an entrance, Lu Nange took out her binoculars and observed the situation inside the mall through the window.
After confirming that no one was inside, she tied the rope on the inflatable boat to a hook and swung it forcefully towards the concrete platform next to the window. The hook caught firmly.
She picked up Lu Beiye, carried him through the window, and then jumped in herself.
"Take off your raincoat yourself."
While Lu Beiye was taking off his raincoat, he quickly put the assault boat into his system inventory.
Lu Nange held Lu Beiye's small hand tightly, and with her other hand she held up a flashlight and shone it across the room in rows.
Sure enough, the city was severely flooded, with water levels reaching alarmingly high levels.
The five-story shopping mall has been completely submerged by the flood and is nowhere to be seen.
Only the sixth floor and above remain, high-rise office buildings.
The glass doors of the companies were smashed to pieces, with shards of glass scattered all over the ground.
Documents and office supplies were scattered everywhere, creating a chaotic scene.
Clearly, this place has already been "visited," and all the supplies that could be looted have probably been taken.
Not far away, around the corner, several blinding lights pierced through the thick darkness; Lu Nange guessed they were kindred spirits.
But she had no idea who the other party was. If a conflict broke out, she and her brother would be in big trouble because they were outnumbered.
As the light shone, Lu Nange picked up Lu Beiye and quickly hid behind the wall.
Lu Beiye obediently hugged her neck and rested his head on his sister's shoulder.
Having adjusted to the darkness, and with seven more check-ins to go, Lu Nange mustered all her strength and slowly made her way upstairs.
As she approached the stairs, the noisy commotion became increasingly clear in Lu Nange's ears.
A child cried out desperately, "Let go! Let go of my mother!" His tender voice was filled with fear and helplessness.
Immediately afterwards, there was a dull thud as something fell to the ground, followed by a woman's piercing scream: "Yuan Yuan, let go of my son!"
From Lu Nange's angle, all she could see was the scantily clad woman lunging forward and biting the man's ear hard.
Enraged, the man grabbed the woman's hair and slapped her across the face.
His words were vulgar and arrogant: "You filthy bitch, we brothers traded a bag of bread for you, what are you pretending to be, a virtuous woman!"
The two men beside him had disgustingly lewd expressions on their faces, staring intently at the chaotic and cruel scene before them.
One of them licked his lips and said obsequiously to the leader, "Brother, you go first."
"Let us two brothers have some fun later..." His tone was like a wolf salivating before devouring its prey.
The little boy, who had been kicked away, lay motionless on the ground.
In the corner, a man was munching on bread, oblivious to everything around him.
Lu Nange knew that after the apocalypse, morality and order collapsed, and the ugliness of human nature was magnified infinitely. Such scenes would only become more and more common.
She could only take care of herself.
Having witnessed too many such things in his past life, Lu Beiye covered Lu Nange's eyes with his hands.
"Sister, don't look."
Lu Nange's mind was filled with the woman's desperate eyes, and she couldn't shake them off.
"You bitch, you dare to bite me? You've got some nerve!"
Even with eyes blocked, the five senses become even clearer.
Amidst the foul language and cries of pain, Lu Nange put Lu Beiye down: "Stay here, I'll be right back."
She quickly pulled out a stun gun from her waist and rushed over.
The stun gun in his hand whistled as it struck the knee of the man who was covering his ears.
With a sharp "crack," the man's legs bent backward instantly, and he knelt heavily on the ground.
A bloodcurdling scream burst from the man's throat.
Lu Nange looked up at the other two men who rushed up, her eyes filled with disgust and disdain, as if she were looking at a pile of nauseating filth.
She smashed the weapon over the head of one of the men, who had tattooed arms and a ferocious expression.
The stun gun struck the skull with a dull thud. The man didn't even have time to cry out in pain before his body convulsed and he collapsed to the ground.
Lu Beiye, holding a gleaming gold baseball bat, struck the calf of the man behind the tattooed man.
After the man fell to the ground in pain, a fierce glint appeared in Lu Beiye's eyes.
He grabbed the baseball bat and smashed it hard on the man's head.
The woman rushed over like a madwoman, grabbed the child on the ground and hugged him tightly in her arms, her body trembling violently with fear and excitement.
He lowered his head, repeatedly murmuring, "Thank you, thank you all..."
Lu Nange took a jacket out of her backpack and threw it over.
The shouts and screams of the man that had been filling the air behind my ears all disappeared.
Lu Nange subconsciously turned around and saw three men lying haphazardly on the ground, their heads smashed open by Lu Beiye.
Crimson blood spread across the ground.
Lu Nange... I'm doomed, I've raised my little brother into a deadly weapon!
