Chapter 119 Escape 8
Seeing Youxiang and the others run out of the base, Ren Ze was extremely anxious. He rushed to Ye Tian in three steps, his face full of worry, "Lord, we can't let Youxiang get away!"
He clenched his fists, staring intently at Ye Tian, trying to persuade the lord to order a continued pursuit.
He and his teacher needed this perfect experimental subject.
Ye Tian's gaze slowly shifted to Qin Zhuo, who was lying on the ground, his chest no longer rising and falling, and his whole body lifeless. A complex emotion flashed in his eyes.
At this moment, the staff member who came to report the emergency at the East Gate stepped forward again.
"Lord, we transferred a lot of people from the East Gate to capture Youxiang. Now there are far fewer people at the East Gate, and they can't withstand the siege of the zombie horde at all. We can't linger here any longer."
Ye Tian's eyes sharpened, and he decisively ordered, "Apart from those who were originally stationed at the west gate, everyone else come with me to the east gate to do our best to resist the zombie horde."
After saying that, he turned around without hesitation and strode towards the east gate.
Upon seeing this, Ren Ze hurriedly called out, "Lord! Youxiang, she..."
Ye Tian stopped and turned to look at Ren Ze, his eyes sharp as knives. "If they escape, we can catch them again, but if the base is gone, we have nothing left. The most important thing now is to defend the base!"
Ren Ze felt unwilling, but he knew that Ye Tian was right, so he could only lower his head and helplessly reply, "Yes."
Ye Tian's gaze swept over Qin Zhuo's body. "By the way, let's find someone to collect Qin Zhuo's body."
His voice carried a hint of regret, after all, Qin Zhuo was a rare talent.
Li Hai stepped forward and said, "Lord, I'll stay and collect Qin Zhuo's body."
Ye Tian nodded slightly, said nothing more, and then hurriedly left with the others.
Li Hai walked heavily to Qin Zhuo's side, his gaze falling on Qin Zhuo's face. He felt a pang of sorrow and couldn't help but let out a long sigh.
He slowly squatted down, preparing to carry Qin Zhuo on his shoulder.
Just as his hand accidentally touched Qin Zhuo's wrist, his fingers instantly felt the faint pulse.
"This is……"
Li Hai's eyes suddenly froze, and he was startled, but he remained calm on the surface.
Do you need my help?
At this moment, a staff member looked at Li Hai and kindly asked.
Li Hai stood up and easily hoisted Qin Zhuo onto his shoulder. "No need, this is easy. Open the door, I'll bury him outside and let him rest in peace."
The staff member nodded. "Okay."
Li Hai then added, "By the way, do you have a shovel? I need it to dig a hole."
The staff member replied, "Yes, I'll get it for you."
After saying that, he turned around and went to get the shovel.
A short while later, the staff returned with shovels and opened the base gate.
Youxiang and Qiaoyue were no longer seen outside the gate.
Li Hai carried Qin Zhuo on his back, holding a shovel in one hand, and walked out of the base, but he didn't go far.
He walked to a place overgrown with weeds and dug a shallow pit with a shovel.
After digging, he put Qin Zhuo inside, leaving his nose and eyes exposed so he could breathe.
Li Hai looked at Qin Zhuo and said, "Qin Zhuo, this is all I can do to help you. Whether anyone comes to save you is up to fate."
After saying that, he picked up the shovel on the ground, turned around and went back to the base as if nothing had happened.
The atmosphere at the east gate of the base was so oppressive it was hard to breathe.
Ye Tian's expression was solemn as he stared intently at the densely packed horde of zombies surging outside the base.
"How can there be so many zombies?"
Ye Tian frowned, his voice carrying a hint of undisguised shock.
The number of zombies far exceeded his expectations.
A staff member nearby speculated, "Could it be that Yuka's zombie attracted them? She's special, maybe she has a way of attracting so many of her kind."
Ye Tian turned his gaze to Ren Ze, "Could it be because of Yu Xiang? You follow Dr. S, so you should have a relatively in-depth understanding of the various characteristics and abilities of zombies."
Ren Ze frowned slightly, pondered for a moment, and said, "I'm not entirely sure either. Youxiang's situation is just too unique. Judging from the special characteristics she's displayed, it's possible that she has the ability to attract other zombies, but we can't be sure yet that she's the cause."
"It must be her! Otherwise, how could such a large number of zombies appear just when she was being chased? The timing is too coincidental. Who else could it be but her?"
Upon hearing this, the staff member spoke frankly.
Poor Yuka was unfairly blamed for this whole mess. She did nothing wrong, yet she was made the culprit for the zombie crisis.
But in a secluded corner outside the base, the true mastermind lies—the Spirit Corpse.
"Attack! Destroy the human bases and establish our own zombie empire. Let these foolish humans know who truly rules this world!"
On the other side, Qiao Yan and Chen Yunfei, supporting each other, staggered away from the base.
Their bodies were covered in wounds, their clothes were tattered and stained dark red with blood. With each step they took, their heavy breathing and painful groans could be heard.
However, their luck was absolutely terrible. They hadn't gone far when they encountered a horde of zombies that had come to besiege the base.
Upon smelling the human scent, the zombies immediately became excited and pounced on them.
They've been discovered by zombies!
The two, already covered in injuries and without proper rest, now face this sudden danger.
However, since these zombies were controlled by the spirit zombies, only a small number of the zombies on the periphery broke free from the spirit zombies' control and were lured away by them.
The number of zombies chasing the two was not large, and none of them had any special abilities; they were just ordinary zombies.
These zombies might have been easy for them to deal with on ordinary days, but now, with their wounds and exhaustion, they have become deadly.
Qiao Yan and Chen Yunfei fought with all their might, barely managing to defeat the zombies.
Half an hour later, they finally escaped the zombies' pursuit and fled into a forest in a sorry state.
Inside the woods.
Qiao Yan leaned against a big tree, panting heavily, her forehead covered in large beads of sweat that rolled down her cheeks.
Her eyes were filled with exhaustion and worry. "Finally, I've shaken them off! I wonder how the others are doing? I hope they're all safe and sound."
Chen Yunfei leaned against a tree, his body trembling slightly. He looked at the back of his hand, where there was a shocking scratch. The blood had already congealed, but the surrounding skin was beginning to turn red and swell.
This happened when I was accidentally grabbed by a zombie while rescuing Qiao Yan.
