Chapter 120 Chen Yunfei Turns into a Zombie

Chapter 120 Chen Yunfei Turns into a Zombie

"Chen Yunfei, why aren't you saying anything? You're usually quite talkative."

Qiao Yan asked with a hint of doubt.

Chen Yunfei forced a bitter smile. "Didn't you hate it when I was noisy? Now that I'm not noisy anymore, isn't that a good thing?"

Qiao Yan frowned deeply, a strong sense of unease rising in her heart.

This is so unusual!

Qiao Yan leaned against the tree trunk, her legs weak, but she slowly straightened up and turned to look at Chen Yunfei, "What... happened to you?"

A flicker of struggle crossed Chen Yunfei's eyes before he slowly said, "I've been scratched by a zombie. You should leave now."

Qiao Yan was startled, and her body moved uncontrollably toward Chen Yunfei.

Why did this happen? We finally managed to escape the base.

Seeing Qiao Yan walking towards him, Chen Yunfei said sternly, "I told you to leave!"

Ignoring Chen Yunfei's attempts to stop her, Qiao Yan grabbed his hand, which was hidden behind his back.

When she saw the hideous claw mark on the back of his hand, the area around the wound already turning black and emitting a putrid stench, her heart sank.

But she still tried to remain calm and said, "It's not like you're definitely going to turn into a zombie. Maybe you'll be fine."

Chen Yunfei forcefully shook off Qiao Yan's hand, his body trembling slightly.

“But I already show signs of zombification; I can feel the changes in my body.”

As he finished speaking, a low, zombie-like growl escaped his throat, and his eyes became somewhat unfocused.

"While I still have my senses, you should leave now, or just kill me. I don't want to become a mindless monster, and I certainly don't want to hurt you."

Chen Yunfei's voice carried a hint of pleading.

Qiao Yan looked at Chen Yunfei, who was trying hard to remain calm, her eyes slightly red, "Were you injured by the zombie when you saved me just now?"

Chen Yunfei, who was covering his head, was stunned for a moment, a hint of panic flashing in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.

"No, it has nothing to do with you. This is my own life, don't take the blame on yourself."

Qiao Yan knew in her heart that Chen Yunfei was lying; he was afraid that she would feel guilty.

She slowly pulled a dagger from her waist.

Upon seeing this, Chen Yunfei showed no fear in his eyes. Instead, he proactively leaned his neck in, his voice eerily calm.

"Hurry up, I'm afraid of getting hurt."

"Clang!"

The dagger fell to the ground with a crisp sound.

Qiao Yan's hands were trembling uncontrollably; she ultimately couldn't bring herself to do it.

She turned and ran away, tears welling up in her eyes and streaming down her cheeks.

Chen Yunfei looked at the dagger on the ground, smiled bitterly, and felt a mix of emotions.

She still couldn't bear it, and that was enough for him.

He leaned slowly against the tree trunk, watching the direction Qiao Yan had run off in, feeling his body being constantly eroded, and his consciousness gradually becoming blurred.

Just like Brother Qin said, he and Xiaoyouzi are going to form a zombie duo.

I wonder how Brother Qin and the others are doing? Did they manage to escape the base?

I hope I can become a zombie like Yuka.

Chen Yunfei thought to himself silently.

Finally, he slowly closed his eyes, as if awaiting his fate.

When he opened his eyes again, they had lost all human emotion, becoming empty and numb.

His body stood stiffly, covered in lividity; he had completely turned into a zombie.

...

Several vehicles were parked not far from the base.

Shen Jia, who was in one of the cars, stared intently in the direction of the base and blurted out something.

"What's going on? Are those zombies outside the base?"

The team leader, sitting in the driver's seat, quickly turned his head and looked at the base through the car window; his expression instantly became serious.

"Oh no, a horde of zombies is attacking the base. Judging by the size and the commotion, they're coming on strong. The base is in danger."

Upon hearing this, Shen Jia's expression changed drastically, and he asked anxiously, "Then how are we supposed to get back to the base? Wouldn't going there now be like walking into a trap?"

The captain frowned, pondered for a moment, then took out a pair of binoculars from the storage compartment next to the car seat and said, "I'll get out and go up to a higher place to observe the distribution of the zombie horde and the situation of the base before making any plans."

With that, he opened the car door and got out.

The captain left not long ago.

"Buzz!"

A cell phone suddenly vibrated inside the car.

Shen Jia turned around and saw that the captain's phone was left on the car seat, and the screen showed that there was an incoming call.

He quickly picked up his phone, opened the car door, and shouted to the captain standing on the higher ground, "Captain, phone call!"

The captain, who was standing on high ground and observing the direction of the base with binoculars, waved to Shen Jia after hearing the shout, signaling him to take over for him.

Shen Jia nodded, casually pressed the answer button, and put the phone to his ear, "Hello!"

A man's voice came from the other end of the phone, "This damn signal, finally got through!"

"No, who are you? Where's Xiao Luo?"

Shen Jia quickly explained, "The captain is busy right now and asked me to answer the phone for him. Just tell me what you need."

The person on the other end of the phone paused, then said, "Tell your captain that if you're going back to base now, whatever you do, don't go to the east gate. The east gate is full of zombies."

“Go through the west gate, it’s the furthest from the east gate, so it’s relatively safer. But no, the zombie named Youxiang ran out through that gate, it’s quite dangerous.”

There was a pause on the other end of the phone before the voice continued, "But Yuxiang should no longer be at the West Gate. Let your captain return to the base from the West Gate."

Upon hearing the name "Youxiang," Shen Jia was startled.

Sister Yuzu?

How did she become a zombie?

What exactly happened?

A series of questions kept swirling in his mind.

Shen Jiaqiang feigned composure and subtly began to probe for information: "How did Youxiang become a zombie? What happened in between?"

The person on the other end of the phone was also a gossip. As soon as Shen Jia asked, they told Shen Jia everything they knew.

Just as Shen Jia hung up the phone, the captain walked down from the high place and came to Shen Jia's side, asking, "Whose call was that? What did they say?"

Shen Jia then snapped out of his daze from what he had just heard over the phone. He looked at the captain and handed the phone back to him.

He replied, "The note says it's Fatty's number. He told the captain not to go back to base through the east gate because it's full of zombies, and to go through the west gate instead."

The captain glanced at his phone, put it away, and said with a smile, "I didn't need his reminder. I just saw it through my binoculars. The zombies are mainly surrounding the east gate. Let's go back to base through the west gate later; that seems to be the safest place right now."

As he spoke, he turned to get back into his car.

Shen Jia nodded slightly and followed behind the captain.

He and his father probably won't be able to return to the base.

I wonder how Yuzu and the others are doing?

And Brother Qin too...

Thinking of this, a trace of worry and sadness appeared in his eyes.
