Chapter 60: Distributing Food at Midnight (Part 2)

Butcher Yun looked around the donkey cart and found that he had almost packed up all his belongings.

"Boss, it will take more than two hours to distribute the food in the village. We don't need your help, so you should take advantage of this time to get some sleep." Yun the butcher said with concern.

"Dad, you really don't need my help? Can you and my mom handle it? I don't have to sleep tonight." asked Boss Yun.

"Boss, listen to your father. Go back and sleep for a while, and I'll wake you up when we set off. Your father and I can take care of the rest." Zhang touched Boss Yun's head and said in a low voice.

"Dad, Mom. I'm going to bed now. If you're too busy, just wake me up to help." Boss Yun said in a loud voice.

"Okay, I got it. You should go to bed soon." Butcher Yun patted Boss Yun's shoulder and said.

After listening to Yun the Butcher and Zhang, Boss Yun went back to sleep. Before falling asleep, Boss Yun secretly thought that when he woke up, he would help Yun the Butcher push the cart. Yun the Butcher had been busy all day and must be exhausted.

Yun the Butcher and Zhang found a few earthenware jars and a few empty baskets to use later. Seeing that the village chief and his companions hadn't arrived yet, Yun the Butcher and Zhang leaned against the donkey cart to rest for a while. As soon as Yun the Butcher sat down, his legs felt sore and his whole body felt heavy. He felt like he could fall asleep immediately if he leaned against the donkey cart.

"Master, you can take a nap leaning against the donkey cart. I'll call you when the village chief and the elders come." Zhang said as she extinguished the torch.

"Okay, then I'll sleep for a while. When the village chief and the elders come, please call me quickly. We are very tight on time tonight and we really can't afford to waste any time." As Yun the butcher spoke, he fell asleep leaning against the donkey cart.

Zhang watched Yun the Butcher fall asleep. She sat beside him, looking at him with distress. She wondered how many shops the butcher and Yiyi had visited in the city today to buy so many things. Moreover, the butcher had been busy since returning. He even fell asleep leaning against the donkey cart. It was obvious that the butcher was truly exhausted.

Zhang waited until Yun the Butcher started snoring, then she stood up and walked towards where the children slept. Then, she pulled out a box of ointment from the cart. Zhang walked over to Yun Yiyi with the ointment, lifted the quilt, and took off her pants. Then, she touched Yiyi's little bottom and found it wasn't swollen. Zhang breathed a sigh of relief. She had been so angry before that she hadn't been able to control the strength of her hand. She was really worried about swollen her bottom. Fortunately, Zhang's strength was weak, so Yiyi's bottom didn't swell.

Zhang scooped out a lump of ointment and applied it to Yiyi's buttocks, then spread it evenly with both hands. After waiting for a few minutes, she felt that Yiyi's buttocks were very dry, then she put on Yiyi's pants and covered her with the quilt. Yiyi had been busy in the city with Yun the butcher all day. After returning, she was busy fighting off the refugees who were stealing food. Yiyi was exhausted today. Even though Zhang was making such a big fuss, Yiyi was sleeping soundly and showed no signs of waking up.

Yiyi has been smart and lively since she was young, and she can also coax people with her mouth. Zhang and Yun the butcher have never beaten her. It is really unexpected that Yiyi is such a smart kid. She actually learned the trick of a comeback from the master, and she hid it so well. If Yiyi had not helped to fight the refugees who were stealing food today, no one would have known that she could comeback, and her skills were so good. Zhang felt proud and scared. She was proud that Yiyi was not afraid of hardship and had practiced her skills so well that she had the ability to protect herself. She was scared because Yiyi was brave and careful, and she was very opinionated. Zhang did not regret beating Yun Yiyi.

Zhang also wanted Yun Yiyi to have some concerns, so that she would consider her parents and brother when doing things in the future. No matter how skilled Yun Yiyi was, her parents would still worry about their child getting hurt. Zhang sat beside Yun Yiyi for a while, thinking a lot. It seemed that she would have to keep Yiyi by her side in the future to temper her temper.

At this time, Zhang heard some whispering voices coming from the side, so she stood up and walked towards the donkey cart.

Soon, Li Xiucai and Zhang the Hunter drove over in a carriage. A torch was stuck on the front rack of the carriage, illuminating the area around the carriage. Seeing this, Zhang woke up Yun the Butcher.

"You're here. This half hour has passed so quickly." Yun the Butcher rubbed his face with both hands and said in a low voice.

"Brother Yun, it will take a while. We thought we'd come over first to unload the food and herbs from the carriage. That way, when everyone comes to distribute the food later, things will be faster." Hunter Zhang replied.

"Yes, Brother Yun, the schedule tonight is too tight. We don't want to fall behind." Li Xiucai said embarrassedly.

"I have unloaded all the things from my donkey cart and put them here. Let's start unloading the things from the horse cart now." Butcher Yun said, pointing to the pile of things next to the donkey cart.

"Okay, let's put the food together and the medicinal herbs next to it. This way, when Uncle Wu comes, the medicinal herbs can be handed over very quickly." Li Xiucai said.

"Okay, let's three start moving. Let your sister-in-law hold the torch next to us." Butcher Yun took the torch off the carriage and handed it to Zhang who was standing aside.

"Thank you, sister-in-law."

"Thank you, sister-in-law."

Li Xiucai and Zhang the Hunter said embarrassedly. Zhang shook her hand and stood beside the carriage to light it.

Butcher Yun, Scholar Li, and Hunter Zhang moved quickly, placing the items they had brought down alongside the items Yun the Butcher had bought. They then placed all the medicinal herbs and the jar of strong liquor beside them.

On this side, Yun the Butcher, Li Xiucai and Zhang the Hunter had just finished moving the medicinal herbs when the village chief and the elders came over.

"Li Xiucai, Zhang the Hunter, and Yun the Butcher, have you packed up everything?" the village chief asked anxiously.

"Village chief, I have packed up all the things on my donkey cart and put them here. Please take a look." Yun the butcher said, pointing to a pile of things.

"Village chief, the things on my carriage have been packed up and placed next to the things Brother Yun bought. This way it will be more convenient for everyone when we divide them up later." Li Xiucai said, pointing to a pile of things next to him.

"Okay, then let's wait here for the villagers to come." The village chief and the elders were very happy.

A few minutes later, Uncle Wu arrived first. The village chief and Li Xiucai went to hand over the herbs and prescriptions to Uncle Wu. With so many people helping out, the herbs were quickly handed over. Uncle Wu put the prescriptions away and asked Yun the butcher to help load the herbs into a nearby carriage. Yun the butcher lifted the curtain and saw that a large area inside Uncle Wu's carriage was empty. After Yun the butcher helped load the herbs onto the carriage, he realized that half of the space was still empty.
