How many survived in Chapter 89?

Despite it being night, the soldiers and various vehicles coming and going were still bustling with activity.

The majority of those carrying bodies were wearing protective suits; they were responsible for cleaning the dormitory area.

Gunshots continued to come from that direction, and trucks loaded with corpses drove out of the base one after another.

Wei Ping emerged from the air defense department, followed by six guards carrying weapons and on high alert. He strode towards the Marine Corps command post, which was located between two buildings.

Along the way, he watched the cleanup trucks drive past him, their cargo compartments piled high with corpses, still wearing the uniforms of their Chinese military.

They are in the prime of their lives, and with pure hearts, they are wholeheartedly dedicated to protecting their country!

As a result, they didn't die on the battlefield, but were inexplicably taken away by this damned mutation!

What is public?

This air force base originally had 60,000 people! Overnight, less than 5,000 remained!

Wei Ping's eyes were red as if he were crying blood. He dared not turn his head to look again. He took a deep breath to calm himself down and quickened his pace.

He needs to go faster, faster... The people of the Flower Country are still waiting for them.

Inside the Marine Corps command center, the situation was just as busy and chaotic as Wei Ping's side.

Zhang Haicheng, the highest-ranking commander of the Kyoto Marine Corps, paced back and forth in his office with the phone in hand, his excited and agitated voice coming through the door.

"Give me a precise time: when will your support troops arrive?"

"Wait, wait, wait! What am I supposed to wait for?"

"As long as you provide the supplies, we'll send people to pick them up ourselves!"

"We'll be the last ones standing! Even if we die in Kyoto, we won't utter a single complaint!"

"But you can't let my soldiers die in vain! Without fire support, we've already lost over a thousand soldiers just clearing Ruiyang District!"

"People live in Ruiyang District! Aren't my soldiers human beings too?"

He hysterically roared and trembled into the phone.

"Lu Zheng! I have 80,000 soldiers! Of those 80,000, only these 8,000 are left—they are all lives!"

Wei Ping stood outside the office door, his hand frozen on the doorknob, his other hand gripping the documents tightly, veins bulging.

He withdrew his hand from the door, wiped his face again, and stood there tilting his head back.
