1. Chapter 1: Unexplained tragic death and rebirth from the ashes

On a quiet night, under the cold moonlight, you can clearly see the rusty, mossy house and the ruins of the walls everywhere.

At this moment, a staggering purple-black monster that looked like a human but was incomplete came out from a corner.

"Ka-oo-ho-ho!"

The beast-like roars that came out of their mouths seemed to tear this fragmented world apart completely.

At a corner of the abandoned road, there is a dilapidated hotel with even its sign falling off. The air is filled with gloom. In a room of this hotel, a woman with a big belly and wearing a sportswear stained with black blood, her face buried in the dim light, cannot be seen clearly. She seems to be very scared, her eyes fixed on a slender woman in a dirty black leather jacket who is leaning against the window and looking outside.

She had her hair tied in a ponytail, and there were zombie blood clots on her hair from today's fight, making her look extremely dirty. Even her pretty face was dirty and messy. A trace of disgust and disdain flashed in the woman's eyes.

She said weakly but with gratitude, "Thank you for saving me, thank you for taking me to find my husband!" As she spoke, she walked towards her cautiously, and her hand hidden under her clothes slowly withdrew. Following the moonlight, a hint of coldness could be clearly seen. Her eyes were even more fierce, completely inconsistent with her fragile appearance at this time.

Hearing the faint thank you from behind, Bailing had a blank expression on her face. Why did she save her?

Bai Ling's eyes seemed a little empty, as if she saw a scene from a long time ago. Not long ago, her sister was also pregnant like this, and she video-called her, talking about the child with a smile on her face.

Sadness and grief flashed in her clear eyes. For a year, she could think of every scene of that day as long as she closed her eyes. She clenched her hands and a tear fell.

She hated herself for being so incompetent. Otherwise, how could she have watched them die tragically before her eyes? Even... couldn't even collect their corpses?

Why did all the relatives who were kind to her die, but she was the only one who survived?

Bai Ling has always felt that God is unfair. What does it mean that good people will have a peaceful life? That's completely bullshit!

She took a deep breath, trying to adjust her mood, because now was not the time to think about these things, but she didn't expect to hear a "puff" sound in her ears. Bai Ling felt a pain in her heart, and her clear eyes that were still filled with tears widened. She turned slightly and looked at the timid pregnant woman. Her face seemed to have changed, it was very beautiful and charming, with a light of publicity and complacency, and her eyes were fierce.

Bai Ling slowly lowered her head and saw a sword tip flashing with cold light and covered with blood appear in her left chest. The pain instantly spread throughout her body, and she could clearly feel her heartbeat being suppressed.

Haha, she was too careless.

"Why?" Bai Ling wanted to sneer and mock herself.

Just as she finished speaking, with a "Puff", she was stabbed in the abdomen again, and blood spurted out like a water pump, spraying the face of the pregnant woman in front of her with blood. She looked extremely hideous and terrifying, even worse than the inhuman zombies outside.

The pregnant woman walked step by step to the dying Bai Ling, with a smile on her face, "Why? Of course it's for me and my child!"

Bai Ling was in great pain. As a fire-type mutant, she could clearly feel her body becoming cold and she could no longer hold on.

But this sentence made her feel ridiculous. She didn't even know her and had never thought of hurting her and her child. Otherwise, why would she save her?

In the apocalypse, one really shouldn't trust anyone, especially a woman who has survived for a year and still managed to get pregnant. Even if she is weak in body, her heart is vicious. Otherwise, how could she survive until now in this world where humanity has been lost?

After spitting out a mouthful of blood, Bai Ling was staggering. Looking at the swaying dark ceiling, she only thought that she saw her kind grandmother looking at her with a smile, her sister holding the child waving at her, and her little uncle seemed to be smiling and talking to her.

Although she was powerless to save the situation, Bai Ling felt relieved. She didn't hate them. Haha, she really didn't hate them! She could reach out and touch her grandmother, sister, and uncle.

"That's fine, hehe, I can finally be reunited with you!" His body finally slid down powerlessly.

The pregnant woman had never thought that she would still be smiling when she was about to die? Looking at that smile that seemed so pure and sacred even with her eyes closed, she felt a hint of anger in her heart. What was there to be happy about?

The pregnant woman with a hideous face quickly walked over and viciously pushed her out of the window, with a cold glint in her eyes, "Die, it would be best if nothing is left of you!"

A monster with a pitch-black and purple body staggering not far away had already smelled the delicious meal. With a whoosh, it ran at an unusually fast speed, directly towards the hotel like a cheetah looking for food.

The pregnant woman standing upstairs had a victorious smile on her face as she watched the group of disgusting monsters tear the woman into pieces, leaving her flesh and blood all over the place. Unfortunately, she couldn't feel the pain. She squinted her beautiful eyes, thinking, "It's really a good deal for her."

Only then did he take out a photo from his arms. There were two people in the photo, smiling very brightly and looking a little intimate. There was obviously a university behind them, and the girl was none other than the pretty, fair-skinned and slightly immature Bai Ling.

The pregnant woman lovingly touched the handsome, sunny, tall man's face with her hand, and a happy and determined smile appeared on her face. "Baby, now your father won't look for his so-called lover everywhere. He will definitely marry me!"

When she let go of her hand, the photo slowly fell down along with the woman's slender fingers, and finally melted into the pool of blood, but one could still vaguely see the pretty and bright smile of the woman with the ponytail.

Above the busy streets, the setting sun shines through the tall buildings, casting huge shadows on the busy roads. At an intersection, it is the rush hour after get off work, and people are crowded and standing on the sidewalks with red lights, waiting for the green light to come.

Among them, a fair and pretty girl standing in the front was wearing a plaid shirt, cropped casual pants, and her straight hair was tied up and loose. She was holding a notebook and looked dazed.

Upon closer inspection, the girl was none other than the woman in the photo.
