Chapter 12 Another member joins the team
Xu Zhiyang looked closely and found that it was actually a little boy.
"Oh my god...what is this? Did God give me a son?" Li Huiyin looked up at the sky.
"Uh..." Xu Zhiyang was dumbfounded. Subconsciously, she went to the most reliable adult and asked Zhu Ci for help. "What should I do..."
Zhu Ci wanted to laugh, but he held it back. He used his fingers to feel the boy's breath, then leaned over to listen to his heartbeat. "It's okay, he just fainted. He's a little dehydrated."
"oh……"
Xu Zhiyang thought about it and felt that the child looked familiar, but she couldn't remember it for a moment, so she hugged the child back in her arms and sat down against the tree.
"Isn't it a good time to take a break? Should I give him some water?"
"Okay." Zhu Ci took off his backpack, opened it, took out a small bag of salt from the interlayer, took Xu Zhiyang's cup, poured some into it, made salt water and handed it over.
Li Huiyin took a tissue and placed it under the boy's chin. She looked at his pale face and asked, "Isn't he infected? His face doesn't look right?"
"No, he doesn't have the energy fluctuations of a zombie. Instead, he has a little wood energy, like a mutant."
Xu Zhiyang slowly fed the little boy salt water. After feeding him half a cup, she put it away and looked at Zhu Ci, "So, what should we do with him now?"
Zhu Ci was unconsciously relied on by Xu Zhiyang twice, and only then did he realize that the boy in front of him was only a teenager of sixteen or seventeen years old.
Even though Xu Zhiyang looks steady and calm in normal times, and likes to argue with people, he is still a child.
Without a cold expression, Zhu Ci said, "Take him with you. No one will care if he can't survive."
"Well, let's hurry up and deal with the rest after he wakes up." Xu Zhiyang tried to get up while holding the little boy, but she had no strength.
"This kid looks thin, but I didn't expect him to be so heavy." Xu Zhiyang tried to save face.
Li Huiyin was so happy: "How much strength can your thin arms and legs have? Give me the child."
"My legs are just a little numb, it's not that I can't hold you." Xu Zhiyang gritted his teeth, his face flushed.
Zhu Ci chuckled and took the child, picked him up with one hand, and held Xu Zhiyang's wrist with the other hand, almost lifting him up.
"Thank you." Xu Zhiyang looked at Zhu Ci's strong but not exaggerated muscles with some envy. She didn't know how many years of training it would take her to achieve such a figure.
Continue along the highway, and as long as you ignore the black pools of blood on the road and the body parts everywhere, you can still treat it as an outing.
When they arrived at the service area near night, Xu Zhiyang climbed a tree and looked through the bushes. He saw zombies in work clothes walking around aimlessly.
Without making any sound, Xu Zhiyang quietly climbed down from the tree. "There are only six of them outside, but it's too dark inside to see clearly."
"Gu..."
Li Huiyin's belly was louder than Xu Zhiyang's voice. She grinned and snored with the back of her head.
"Well, I'm so hungry..."
Zhu Ci glanced at her and said, "Control yourself."
Xu Zhiyang was puzzled: "Can this be... controlled?"
Li Huiyin smiled: "I can't!"
"It can be controlled. In fact, just drink some water."
A childish voice interrupted.
The three of them shifted their attention to the child in Zhu Ci's arms.
The child subconsciously pushed up his glasses on the bridge of his nose, and when he found that the glasses were gone, he put his hands down very naturally.
"Hello, my name is Qin Shiyu, I'm seven years old, may I ask your surname, brother or sister?"
The three of them looked at each other, and Xu Zhiyang spoke, "My surname is Xu, your brother's surname is Zhu, and this sister's surname is Li."
Qin Shiyu looked small and thin, but his eyes were very clear, and he looked like a smart and clever child.
"What about you? Why did you appear on the highway and fall from the tree?" Xu Zhiyang asked back.
Qin Shiyu replied, "My family was in trouble, and my neighbor uncle and I were planning to go to the capital together, but we encountered a wave of zombies on the way. My uncle hid me in a tree, and he was bitten. I was hungry for two days and fainted. When I woke up, I saw you."
Qin Shiyu spoke clearly but omitted many details. It seemed that he did not want to bring up sad things.
However, Xu Zhiyang felt that this child was not simple.
Now was not a good time to talk, as night was falling quickly and it would be safer for them to stay inside the house rather than sitting outdoors.
Xu Zhiyang handed a pack of biscuits to Qin Shiyu. "Fill yourself up first. We're going to the service area soon. Can you get down by yourself?"
"Yeah, I feel better."
Qin Shiyu wolfed down a bag of biscuits, took the water given by Xu Zhiyang and drank it, wiped his mouth with some reluctance, and saw that the three of them were staring at him, and smiled shyly.
Li Huiyin has always claimed to be the flower of the motherland. Now that she really sees the children, whose lives are like flower buds, it gives them a little hope.
"Okay, go in." Zhu Ci took the lead and was the first to enter the service area.
The four people lined up in a row, Xu Zhiyang was second, Qin Shiyu was behind him, and Li Huiyin was at the end.
Zhu Ci is a reliable person. He led the way almost to the supermarket without being noticed by any zombies.
However, some individual zombies seemed to smell fresh flesh and blood in the air, and they moved their nostrils vigorously to sniff around.
It was not until they reached the supermarket entrance that the zombies at the door noticed the humans who had groped their way over. They roared and rushed towards them, but were blocked by the railings on the stairs.
Hearing the noise, the remaining zombies with bloody faces wandering around the service area all rushed over quickly.
These zombies were nothing to the psychic. Zhu Ci chopped off a zombie's head with a wind blade.
Li Huiyin twisted a section of railing in the air with one hand. She didn't need to get close to it, and she could hit it accurately with one poke. It could also be reused to avoid waste.
Xu Zhiyang carefully observed the situation inside through the supermarket glass. Seeing that there was nothing strange, he pulled Qin Shiyu and walked in quickly.
To be on the safe side, Li Huiyin killed all the zombies before retreating into the supermarket.
Zhu Ci locked the supermarket door from the inside and saw Xu Zhiyang move a small stool and pull down the sunshades on both sides of the supermarket glass to increase privacy.
"Wow! So much food!" Li Huiyin jumped excitedly and rushed to the cooked food area. She looked like she wanted to swim in the basket of chicken legs.
Xu Zhiyang reached out through the glass and took away the very weak fire energy from the zombie. The more the better, as it adds up to a lot. He had to advance quickly to have a better chance of survival.
In his previous life, before he advanced, he was bullied by gangs from various places on his way to the imperial capital, and he had a very dangerous journey to the north.
If they become stronger sooner, no one can bully them.
Dinner was the first decent meal I had since the end of the world.
Li Huiyin cleaned the cash register, laid a few cardboard boxes on the floor, and placed a flashlight in the corner with the brightness set very low to avoid attracting other monsters.
There were many foods on the cardboard box, including canned food, chicken legs, braised eggs, instant rice, and various drinks.
