Conference room in the base's office building.
The base's top leaders sat around a rectangular table, their expressions serious.
Kang Xiyang's expression was solemn and his face was filled with grief. He pursed his lips a few times, sighed, and then spoke: "Unfortunately, we received news that Lieutenant General Cai Lin has turned into a zombie and was killed in the wilderness."
"Let us all stand up and observe three minutes of silence for him."
Everyone stood up and bowed their heads in silent tribute.
A loud banging came from outside the door.
Cai Lin's son yelled, "I don't believe my dad turned into a zombie and died!!! You guys must have killed him!"
Kang Xiyang, who was standing at the door, opened the door.
Cai Lin's son lost control of his strength and lunged forward with a sudden thrust, nearly falling to his knees.
He swept his gaze across everyone present, gritting his teeth as he said, "My father was nothing but a victim of factional infighting. Every one of you is an executioner."
Major General Kang spoke gently, trying to slow his pace: "You just lost your father, and I understand your distress. But your father did indeed become a zombie."
Cai Lin's son, his eyes red, said unwillingly, "Where's the evidence?"
Jiang Qingwan pointed to the broken reagent bottle on the table, "Your father used a power-enhancing drug developed at the Wunan Base. He turned into a zombie."
"You may not believe it now. But after a while, news about the Urumqi South Base will definitely come through."
“I have no reason to lie to you. I’m right here in the base; you can find me anytime. Time will tell.”
Everyone whispered among themselves, sighing with emotion.
Cai Lin's son immediately unleashed all his anger on Jiang Qingwan, his voice almost hoarse: "So, you admit that you killed my father!"
"Go to hell... go to hell..." His voice became hollow and cold, slippery and sticky, carrying a thousand malices, rushing towards Jiang Qingwan with all-pervasive force, wanting to pierce her brain.
Jiang Qingwan had her true qi protecting her body, which directly blocked the sonic attack. She waved her hand and sighed, "So annoying, special abilities are as common as cabbage."
Kangxi Yangmo replied silently, "Hey. Don't hurt my feelings."
"It's your turn to get to work," Jiang Qingwan said slowly, looking at the various expressions on the faces of the crowd. "I'm just a good person who does one good deed a day, yet I've been openly attacked. Why aren't you arresting the perpetrator?"
Kang Xiyang acted swiftly, immediately handcuffing Cai Lin's son with a specially made metal-type superpower handcuff.
Cai Lin's son sneered, continued his insults, and activated his sonic powers.
Jiang Qingwan waved her hand and conjured a tattered rag, which she used to seal his mouth.
"Kang Xiyang! What's the point of these handcuffs?" Jiang Qingwan complained.
Kang Xiyang realized something was wrong and shoved the rag down his throat again.
He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, feeling extremely embarrassed: "This is my first time escorting someone, I'm not skilled enough."
Cai Lin's son made a whimpering sound, but could no longer unleash his sonic attack.
"Take him away," Kang Xiyang instructed the guard beside him.
"Where are we taking them?" Jiang Qingwan doubted whether these people could actually keep the superhumans locked up.
"Special prison".
"I want to go see." Jiang Qingwan prepared to follow.
At this moment, the person diagonally opposite began to obstruct them, "Major General Kang, you can't take her to the prison. She's not an official base staff member."
Kang Xiyang glared at his inflexible colleague, preparing to apologize to Jiang Qingwan.
Jiang Qingwan said casually, "Oh, fine, if you don't let me go there then."
With a thought.
A needle coated with a colorless, silent drug pierced the throat of Cai Lin's son.
"Remember to settle my reward. Eliminate Cai Lin's level 5 clone ability zombie." Jiang Qingwan looked at the man wearing a black hood at the highest position, Han Qianfan, the leader of the Youlong Base.
“Okay, Miss Jiang.” Han Qianfan’s voice was rough and hoarse, as if it had been scraped by sandpaper.
