Yan Qing returned to Yue Qi's side and whispered her discovery to him.
Yue Qi and Sun Jue looked quite exhausted, especially Yue Qi, who had clearly used Xuanmen magic and looked much paler. As for Sun Jue, Yan Qing could only say "Heh."
However, they had already pried open a corner of the coffin lid, making it barely possible to see what was inside.
The coffin was pitch black, and out of caution, Yue Qi did not rush to look inside.
Sun Jue seemed to know something, and reached into the coffin.
Yue Qi and the other man were a step too slow and could only watch helplessly as he pulled a strange little wooden plaque out of the coffin.
Yan Qing looked at the small wooden sign, and for some reason, she felt that she had seen the pattern on the sign somewhere before.
Before she could examine it closely, Sun Jue simply stuffed the wooden plaque into his clothes, showing no intention of sharing it.
Yue Qi's face darkened; his composure prevented him from directly turning against Sun Jue. But Yan Qing couldn't hold back and immediately objected.
"Sun Jue, what do you mean by this?!"
"Hehehe, I didn't mean anything by it." Sun Jue spread his hands, his attitude quite straightforward.
"Okay, then I'll take it myself!"
Yan Qing wasn't going to indulge him; she had studied Sanda (Chinese kickboxing), so she went straight up and started fighting with Sun Jue.
As a result, Sun Jue, a grown man, was actually beaten to the ground by Yan Qing, and the small wooden sign unsurprisingly fell into Yan Qing's hands.
"Let go! You bitch, you tigress! Let me go right now! — That thing is mine!"
Yan Qing saw that he was being stubborn and was about to give him a few more blows. Just then, she saw Wen Jiajia actually walk out of the main hall.
Her eyes gleamed with a strange light, and she seemed to have made quite a gain.
However, as soon as her gaze fell on them, Wen Jiajia's face immediately fell, and she ran over without saying a word.
"Yan Qing, what's the logic behind you hitting people so easily? We're business partners!"
Yan Qing pointed to Sun Jue, who was groaning under her buttocks, and said, "Why don't you ask him what he did?"
Sun Jue began to subtly signal with his eyes. Wen Jiajia, ever adaptable, immediately changed her attitude.
"Alright, Sun Jue did something wrong, and I apologize on his behalf. Please let him up first."
Yan Qing didn't move; she handed the small wooden plaque she had seized to Yue Qi.
Yue Qi examined it for a while, then simply put it away. Wen Jiajia was outraged.
"That's ours!"
"What do you mean 'yours' and 'mine'! Yue Qi did the work, so the stuff naturally belongs to him," Yan Qing immediately retorted sarcastically.
"I wonder who it is, someone who doesn't work hard but is quick to steal things!"
Wen Jiajia was furious with her, but unfortunately it was Yue Qi who had taken the item. She was wary of the other party's strength and didn't dare to make a move.
In the end, they had no choice but to compromise: "Give me back the item, and I'll tell you its purpose."
Yue Qi wasn't fooled. "You go first."
Wen Jiajia glared at Yan Qing resentfully before reluctantly speaking.
"There is a Seven Star Demon-Subduing Formation in this temple. The small wooden plaque is the key to activate the formation."
"So that's how it is," Yan Qing said, looking at the coffins scattered on the ground. "Could it be that there's a small wooden plaque inside each coffin?"
“That’s right!” Wen Jiajia didn’t hide anything. “The coffin is blessed with the magic of an evil god. It can’t be opened by ordinary people except for those from the Xuanmen sect.” As she spoke, her eyes glanced at Yue Qi.
Yan Qing immediately understood; this was the reason why they were so eager to join forces with the two of them!
Although she hadn't witnessed the entire process of Yue Qi and Sun Jue opening the coffin, Yue Qi had indeed used a mysterious technique that she couldn't understand.
Yue Qi stood there steadily, as if Wen Jiajia wasn't looking at him at all, and had no intention of taking out the item.
Therefore, Yan Qing could only sincerely suggest, "Why don't you go and get another one?"
She pointed to the densely packed coffins behind her, "There are plenty here!"
"You—!" Wen Jiajia was furious. This brat was only acting up because Yue Qi was backing her up!
Just as the two were facing off, the opened coffin suddenly started moving on its own.
"Click—click—click—"
"Bang—bang—bang—!"
Something inside the coffin seemed to be violently pounding against the coffin lid, as if it was about to break through the door.
Yue Qi glanced at the sky, his expression instantly changed. Without bothering to explain, he grabbed Yan Qing's hand, turned around, and started running.
"Hurry up! Otherwise we won't be able to leave!"
Wen Jiajia reacted quickly and immediately followed. The four of them climbed out of the temple along the original path.
As Yan Qing left the temple, she turned her head and inadvertently saw a scene. From the coffin they had opened earlier, a person was swaying as they walked out.
She recognized this person immediately; it was the owner of the Worry-Free Inn where they were staying.
However, the person who crawled out of the coffin looked noticeably dazed, as if he had been dried out, like a walking corpse.
His long fingernails gleamed green, making them look particularly eerie. He circled around, found no one, and then slowly returned to the coffin.
Yue Qi also saw this scene. He didn't say anything, but silently patted her hand.
The sun suddenly dipped below the horizon, looking as if it was about to plunge into darkness.
After leaving the temple, the four of them split into two groups with perfect understanding and quickly scattered to escape for their lives.
