Yan Qing's right index finger began to feel slightly hot, which was the spot where she wore her spatial ring.
In a flash, a piece of parchment, still hot from being burned, was brought out. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be the commission from the Xiao family couple.
Yan Qing felt a headache coming on. If she wasn't mistaken, the next instance should be "Wenshan Sanatorium".
Judging from the name, this place is probably a high-level dungeon. However, as long as it's not a five-star dungeon, she can barely accept it.
Five-star dungeons are simply beyond her capabilities given her current situation of carrying two people at once!
Following her usual tradition, Yan Qing browsed the Sanglingling app before entering the dungeon.
Sure enough, after a few days, many good things appeared on the spirit tablet.
The most conspicuous spot was filled with dozens of bottles of golden water, but the quantity was visibly decreasing. Yan Qing quickly seized the opportunity to grab a few bottles, just in case.
I was just about to buy myself some food to prepare for the dungeon when I discovered that all the food options in the game had turned gray. But I clearly had a lot left!
Cold sweat began to break out on Yan Qing's forehead. As a reader of "The End of the World," she knew very well that this meant that food was not allowed in the next dungeon.
Not only that, but even the food she had left couldn't be retrieved once she entered the new instance.
This greatly increases the difficulty of surviving in the dungeon. However, the strange rules always leave a glimmer of hope.
Yan Qing was pleasantly surprised to find that there were many more controlled items among the daily necessities, so she bought them all without hesitation. She knew they would be useful in the upcoming dungeons.
In addition, there was one more special item: a small, round, iron ball-shaped object, of which there was only one, and it didn't show any instructions on its use. The price, however, was shockingly high, requiring a full amount of spirit coins.
However, being wealthy and generous, she exchanged it without batting an eye. Such an expensive item might play a role in the upcoming dungeon.
As for Xiaotao, she even bought the little girl a new outfit. After all, she couldn't always run around in the same clothes. Xiaotao was so grateful that she almost cried.
"Big sister, you're so kind to me!"
Yan Qing patted her on the back, "I'm glad you like it."
The clothes had been drying for most of the day and were almost done. Yan Qing began packing her backpack, putting only the things she could use inside. She kept her spatial ring discreetly on her hand, just in case.
Finally, Yan Qing took out food from her backpack, fed the two of them first, and then gave Yue Qi a bottle of nutritional supplement.
She tightened the bandages around her body one last time, then carried Yue Qi on her back once more, holding Xiao Tao's hand in her other hand.
"Come on, big sister will take you home."
The asphalt road was very flat, but it was also unusually long. Yan Qing walked for a full hour and still couldn't see the end of the road.
Just as her mouth was parched, a loud car horn suddenly sounded behind her.
A bus was parked on the side of the road, and the ticket seller poked half his head out.
"Little girl, where are you going?"
"Wenshan Sanatorium." Yan Qing said without looking up, preparing to continue her journey.
Upon hearing her answer, the ticket seller actually laughed. "That's quite a coincidence! We're all going to Wenshan Sanatorium. Alright, you look so tired and sweaty, come on up. We happen to have three empty seats."
And so, the three of them boarded the bus. The ticket seller probably felt sorry for her, as she was traveling with two other people, so she didn't charge her fare.
Yan Qing thanked the ticket seller and then led Xiao Tao to the last row.
The bus was packed with people, most of whom looked quite young and full of energy.
Upon seeing Yan Qing carrying someone up the car, some people in the car immediately objected.
"What bad luck! These days, can just anyone get on the bus? Sister Wang, aren't you being a little too kind?"
The speaker was a student in his early twenties, tall and big, but he always looked down on people, giving off a very irritating vibe.
The "Sister Wang" he mentioned was the ticket seller on this bus. Hearing him mock her like that, she simply laughed it off.
"Now that we've seen it, we'll lend a hand if we can."
Yan Qing seemed not to hear their conversation and led Xiao Tao directly to the last row. After settling Xiao Tao in, she slowly untied the straps on Yue Qi's back and carefully placed him in the seat.
After everything was ready, she slowly sat down in the only empty seat.
Sitting next to her was a girl with a ponytail, who looked to be about sixteen or seventeen years old. Ever since Yan Qing got on the bus, she had been staring curiously at Yue Qi on Yan Qing's back.
After Yan Qing sat down, she started staring at Yan Qing again.
Yan Qing felt a little embarrassed by her gaze, so she returned a smile. The girl's face instantly turned bright red, as if she had just realized that she had been rather rude.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I really didn't mean it, I, I didn't mean any harm!" The girl clasped her hands together, apologizing repeatedly, her face as red as a monkey's bottom.
Yan Qing didn't hold it against her, saying, "It's okay."
Just then, the voice of the boy from before came from ahead, "Qiqi, why are you apologizing to her? Judging from her appearance, she's probably just a lower-class person! Look, she can't even afford a decent pair of suspenders?"
Yan Qing wasn't actually unable to afford a baby carrier; it's just that medical-grade straps were indeed softer and more comfortable for Yue Qi. Of course, the arrogant man was unaware of this.
