Chapter 241 Time Bomb

The lighting system on the basement level was broken, with only a few dilapidated emergency lights in the corners emitting a faint glow.

As soon as Lu Sheng and his group went downstairs, they immediately attracted the attention of the zombie horde.

There were about seventy or eighty of them, all wearing work clothes that were discolored and stained with blood and brain matter. They were probably pharmaceutical factory employees who were trapped here after the apocalypse.

Zhao Jiahong was also among them, her face riddled with bite marks, not a single patch of good flesh visible. Her body was relatively intact, except for a large bite mark on her shoulder.

"They managed to leave behind a complete corpse; these zombies are quite particular."

Zhang Xiaojuan pulled out a box of children's modeling clay from somewhere and threw it on the ground. Like scattering beans to create soldiers, a group of colorful little clay figures popped out.

Liu Wei and the others stared in astonishment at the gaudy, short, fat clay figures, and looked at Zhang Xiaojuan with complicated expressions.

They had seen earth-type ability users before, but they had never seen anyone make a fuss with children's clay like this.

It's abstract, but it somehow feels reasonable when paired with this face.

"Sit down, basic stuff, don't be silly." Zhang Xiaojuan arrogantly flicked her bangs.

"These zombies are also picky eaters."

Lu Sheng launched a rocket to help, and slowly explained to the group, "They only eat living people or animals, and once someone is bitten and turns into a zombie, they will not touch them again."

Zhao Jiahong must have mutated relatively quickly, so she was assimilated after only a few bites.

Although Rocket and Zhang Xiaojuan's clay figurine were leading the way, they were selectively protecting their own people.

The safety of Liu Wei and his group was not a concern.

The zombies weren't too stupid; they quickly turned their attention to Liu Wei and his group, whose defenses were relatively weak.

The group was overwhelmed by the relentless pursuit of the zombies when, in the chaos, the zombified Zhao Jiahong suddenly lunged at Liu Wei.

Its grayish-white eyes rolled eerily once, and its sharp teeth bit down on Liu Wei's sweaty neck.

At the critical moment, a sturdy iron shield protected Liu Wei's head, blocking the fatal blow!

Ji Feng withdrew his arm, bared his teeth, and shook his hand.

His ability level wasn't high; although he blocked Zhao Jiahong, he still left shallow bite marks on his hand.

Zhao Jiahong's attack failed, and she was immediately beheaded by Liu Wei.

"Damn it! You bitch! Even in death you're causing me trouble!"

After dealing with the horde of zombies on the basement level, Liu Wei, in a fit of rage, stomped on Zhao Jiahong's head and kicked her several times before finally venting his anger.

He then lightly tapped Ji Feng's shoulder with his fist. "Thanks, brother. I'll treat you well when we get back to the city."

"What are you saying, Brother Liu? I remember all the care you've given me." Ji Feng smiled shyly.

These men were completely exhausted and sat on the ground, panting heavily.

In contrast, Lu Sheng and the others, who didn't have to lift a finger throughout the process, had it much easier.

"We have to go around the operating room to get to the raw material warehouse."

Liu Wei gulped down half a bottle of water, propped himself up, and said to Lu Sheng and his group, "Some of the materials have safety hazards and are hidden very well."

After Liu Wei and his group had finished getting ready, the two teams marched briskly along the route he had designated.

After wandering around for more than ten minutes, we finally found the door to the temperature-controlled warehouse.

"Some materials need to be stored at low temperatures. The pharmaceutical factory has been without power for a long time, so they may have already spoiled. Don't have too high hopes."

Liu Wei gave Zhang Qianqian a wink, and the girl lowered her head and used her supernatural ability to open the door.

The air inside the door was damp and thin, and there had been no ventilation for a long time, so the entire temperature-controlled warehouse was covered with specks of mold.

"Everything is here. Find whatever you need yourself." Liu Wei said, then sat down by the door and gestured with his chin for Lu Sheng to search for raw materials in the warehouse.

Lu Sheng glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, and just as she bent down to pick up the nearest basket of Chinese medicinal herbs, she heard a loud bang behind her.

Taking advantage of everyone's attention being focused on the warehouse materials, Liu Wei turned around and rushed out of the temperature-controlled warehouse!

Holy crap!

Zhang Xiaojuan was stunned for a moment, "He closed the door from the outside!"

Everyone inside the temperature-controlled warehouse reacted immediately and rushed to the door. But by then, Liu Wei had already used a crowbar to jam the door handle, firmly blocking the door from the outside!

Zhang Qianqian and Qin Dali panicked and pounded on the heavy door, yelling, "Open the door! Are you crazy?!"

"Idiot! You really think I want to take a bunch of trash with me!"

Liu Wei's voice drifted in through the crack in the door, "I was originally planning to keep you guys as provisions for the road, but now that I have a vehicle, you bunch of useless trash can just die!"

"What kind of car does he have? He's not talking about our RV, is he?" Han Rui belatedly realized, her face sullen with anger. "No wonder he encouraged us to park the car outside when we first came in."

Qin Dali's eyes were red with anxiety. He picked up a chair from the warehouse and slammed it against the door.

"No wonder he suddenly said yesterday that he wanted to store all the supplies together. That bastard had already planned to run away by himself!"

With a few loud bangs, the chair left deep and shallow marks on the door. But because the crowbar was stuck on the doorknob, the door was never broken open.

"That beast! He blocked the door from the outside; he just wants us dead!"

Zhang Qianqian broke down in tears, pounding on the door until both her hands were swollen like steamed cakes.

Only Ji Feng remained seated motionless in his chair, showing no sign of impatience whatsoever.

"What are you all standing there for! Hurry up and bang on the door!" Qin Dali shouted to the remaining people, his forehead covered in sweat.

The temperature-controlled warehouse has no windows; if everyone is trapped here, they will soon die of suffocation.

Lu Sheng ignored the two people and quickly put all the medicinal herbs in the warehouse into his spatial storage.
