Chapter 49 Searching for Clues
The emergence of a mysterious organization must have brought with it controlled alien species, and these dogs are probably what they left behind.
"So that means the body might be one of their own?" Xu Fei put on protective gloves and began searching the body, finally spotting the tattoo on the back of the body's shoulder.
"Hey, team members, look, doesn't this look like a number?"
This discovery shocked everyone; not only did the aliens have numbers on their bodies, but even the superhumans did.
"Could it be that these superhumans were also being..." The word "manipulated" was too heavy to believe.
"We will continue to look for the Party and the Party."
This is the most important thing right now.
What made the party members leave on their own was definitely not just a few superhumans.
Later, they followed the trail and left the town, arriving at the highway exit in Chuncheng.
The alien species at the entrance to Chuncheng has been dealt with. Xu Fei found the markings left by their special forces team by the roadside, which should have been left by the Party team.
"Finally, we have a clue." Xu Fei breathed a heavy sigh of relief. "If we follow the markings, we should be able to find them."
"Yes." The passenger nodded.
The trail led all the way to the city center, which was originally a densely populated area of alien species, but now at least 80% of it has been cleared out. This is the result of the special forces team's efforts over this period of time.
"Tell me, where exactly are the Party members? Kunming is so big, where could they possibly hide?"
After searching for most of the day, we couldn't find any trace of the special forces team, nor were there any markers.
The passenger frowned, as if he was hesitating about something.
Lu Zhi looked at him with his arms crossed, as if expecting something.
Sure enough, after a short while, the attendant spoke to him: "Master, I can grant you one request."
“Oh my, our Captain Sui is really generous today.” Lu Zhi touched the corner of his lips, concealing his overly obvious and smug smile. His fingers trembled slightly, and the vines on Sui Cheng’s wrist disappeared. “But since it’s your request, how could I refuse?”
As he remained silent, he belatedly realized that Lu Zhi had been waiting for this moment all along.
It seems he unknowingly dug a hole for himself.
Lu Zhi gently hooked his finger, reassuring him, "Don't worry, I won't let you suffer any losses."
Sui Cheng hadn't thought much of it at first, but because of his words, she started to think about it differently. Her ears couldn't help but burn, and she gritted her teeth and warned, "Although I promised you one thing, you're not allowed to go too far."
With a smile playing on his lips, the lawyer asked, "What constitutes 'going too far'?"
Sui Cheng uttered two words without changing his expression, which made Lu Zhi laugh even more heartily.
“Okay.” Lu Zhi squeezed his fingers and readily agreed, adding, “Don’t worry, I don’t plan to go all the way with you before you’ve agreed.”
The passenger felt relieved upon hearing this, but overlooked the fact that he was referring to the final step, meaning that the preceding steps would still be performed.
"Let's rest here for a bit." Sui Cheng planned to wait for Lu Zhi's vines to return before making further plans.
But later, the vines returned, and the news that Lu Zhi received was that there were no other humans in the entire Spring City besides them.
"So the Party isn't in Chuncheng." The passenger was very puzzled. Where could the Party be now? They clearly saw the signal markers they left behind when they came.
Team Leader Xu stroked his chin thoughtfully and said, "So the Party team and the others have probably already left? Team Leader, is your information reliable?"
It wasn't that he didn't believe it, but he felt it was too absolute. What if the party members were hiding in a very secret place?
"Heh." Lu Zhi sneered. Who was he? In this city surrounded by plants, nothing could escape his eyes if he wanted to.
The attendant said indifferently, "Fire a signal flare. If the Party members are in Chuncheng, they will definitely see it."
This is a good idea, and Xu Fei immediately ordered someone to fire a signal flare.
After he released it, Sui Cheng added, "But after releasing it, it will most likely attract many strange creatures from the surrounding area."
Xu Fei's hopeful face froze, and he couldn't help but yell, "Damn it, why didn't you say so earlier!"
If I had told them, I probably wouldn't have been so decisive in letting go.
Lu Zhi chuckled softly; it was obvious that Sui Cheng had done it on purpose.
"They're here."
Sui Cheng looked around and took out his explorer; there were already quite a few red dots appearing nearby.
"Chen Jiang, Zhang Meng, pay attention to defense."
"Brothers, get ready to move!" Xu Fei and the other captains quickly gave the order.
A short while later, a gecko-like creature swooped down from the next floor. It was incredibly fast, and Sui Cheng immediately threw a lightning ball at it.
"Bang!" Lightning crackled and exploded.
They fought against the alien species that surrounded them.
Xu Fei kicked away one of the mutants and couldn't help but shout at his entourage, "Fine, I believe you! What are you planning to do? Tell me already!"
He finally understood. Sui Cheng was holding a grudge against him for not believing in the law. Where did this protective nature of his own come from? He had never done this before!
"Leave Spring City." Sui Cheng used ice to surround the area and trapped all the alien species with a dense net of lightning.
Xu Fei quickly asked, "After we retreat, where do we go?"
"Go to the west side of the city."
"Go to the west side of the city."
Sui Cheng and Lu Zhi spoke in unison, then exchanged a glance.
Lu Zhi tilted his head and smiled at him, as if to say, "See how well I understand you."
“There are only markings at the entrance to Chuncheng. The Party and the others should just be using the road in Chuncheng to shake off their pursuers.”
"How did you figure that out?" someone asked, puzzled by his position.
"No bodies were found along the way, not even in Chuncheng, which means they left very quickly and did not stop along the way."
"Walk!"
Xu Fei threw a grenade in the direction of the alien species, then quickly got into the car.
Their convoy sped towards the west of the city.
After approaching the highway exit near Chuncheng, they finally discovered the corpses of the superhumans and mutants. They stopped briefly and saw that the corpses were numbered, which further confirmed their suspicions.
Chen Jiang asked in shock, "How many mutants and superhumans did they bring?"
It's a long way from here to leaving Spring City, and there are quite a few corpses of aliens, but not so many superhumans.
One of the passengers wondered, "What is their purpose?"
What is the purpose of this organization manipulating mutants and these numbered superhumans? And why are they chasing after the Party and its members?
However, when they arrived in the western part of the city, they did not see any corpses.
“Look, these are the marks left by the Party and its allies again.”
"Not just that." Xu Fei saw a mangled corpse and thought the clothes looked familiar. He walked closer, pulled up the collar, and saw a name embroidered on it.
The thing we didn't want to happen still happened.
"They're from the special forces."
"The injuries on his body weren't inflicted by any alien species; they were inflicted by someone with superpowers," the person next to Captain Xu added.
Xu Fei nodded. The wounds were indeed left by the superhuman, and there were even gunshot wounds on his shoulder and chest.
"It seems the Party and their forces did indeed come to the West City, but why are there casualties only now that they've arrived here?"
Sui Cheng said coldly, "There might be an ambush that has been prepared long ago in the western part of the city."
