Chapter 348 Only Two Hundred Left

The girl in front of them was dressed in a style completely different from what they had ever seen before. They had never seen Shi Yin wear such a bright red and white dress before. Her slender, white legs were well-proportioned and straight, yet full of strength.

The dark green plaid trench coat wasn't as somber as pure black, and her flowing long hair was tied up in a high ponytail, making her look energetic and cheerful.

Moreover, she wasn't holding a katana or a gun, but a sword, and even performed a beautiful sword flourish when she encountered them.

It doesn't seem to have any offensive capabilities; it looks more like... it's for showing off?

"Where did you come from? Are you scared out of your wits? How did you end up in this place?" The person who looked exactly like Shi Yin jumped down from a nearby rock: "Let me introduce myself. My name is Shi Yin. Where are you from?"

Time sound?

Nan Zhu and Freya looked at each other, not daring to utter a sound for a moment.

They didn't speak, but the person opposite them seemed to have misunderstood them.

"Oh? Very wary, not bad." Shi Yin nodded in satisfaction: "Is there any sanctuary in this world that I don't know about? I've never seen you before."

“We are not from the shelter,” Freya spoke first. “We are essentially working alone, after all, we are too powerful.”

"Are you two traveling alone? Are you a couple?" Shi Yin asked curiously.

Nan Zhu: "No!"

Freya: "Impossible!"

The smiles that had been on their faces vanished instantly. They spoke in unison, then turned and glared at each other, their expressions revealing a hint of gritted teeth.

"Oh my...you two are rivals in love?" Shi Yin gasped, her eyes widening in surprise.

It's clear that Shi Yin is quite the gossip. When this topic comes up, she seems eager to pull up a small stool, crack some melon seeds, and listen to the two of them tell her what happened.

"Then where is the person you were protecting? Which shelter are you in?" Shi Yin asked, as another large group of zombies surged up around them.

Then, Shi Yin snapped her fingers, and an invisible barrier immediately rose up around them. This barrier was clearly much stronger than Freya's pink ice crystals.

Even as zombies relentlessly attacked and slaughtered themselves, the situation remained completely unshaken; all that could be seen were ripples spreading through the air.

“This…” Nan Zhu hesitated, not knowing how to answer for a moment.

They can't exactly say that the person they're protecting is right in front of them, can they?

Besides, why would Shi Yin need their protection? It should be Shi Yin protecting them.

"What's wrong? Could it be that the person you were protecting died before you?" Shi Yin rested her chin on her hand, looking surprised. "You just said you were very strong, but you couldn't even protect one person?"

"Could it be that I'm just as unlucky as you?" Shi Yin murmured to herself.

She, too, seemed to have an unusually fragile nature towards those she wanted to protect; even the smallest disaster could be fatal to them.

“This…” Nan Zhu and Freya looked at each other in bewilderment.

To be honest, the original Toki-on doesn't seem to exist in this world anymore, but there's someone exactly the same person in front of me. Is this really the same person?

Nan Zhu actually wanted to ask Shi Yin in front of him how many cycles this was, but directly revealing the other party's secret would probably backfire now.

If the other party becomes wary and mistakes them for spies sent by the enemy, it would be bad. Therefore, even though they were curious, the two had to suppress their doubts.

"We're not from a shelter; we're basically wandering around now." Freya stepped forward and took Shion's arm. "We never expected there to be other living people in this world. Which shelter are you from, sister? Can I come with you?"

“Speaking of shelters… I guess I’m pretty much a lone wolf.” Shi Yin hesitated, “However, I do know the last human shelter. I’ll take you there. At least food won’t be a problem, and there will be people taking turns guarding it, so you can get some rest.”

"Huh? Isn't my sister in that shelter?" Freya asked, puzzled.

"Well, it's a long story..." Shi Yin paused briefly, then said, "Anyway, let's go first. There are less than two hundred people left in that shelter now."

"There are less than two hundred humans left in the entire world?" Freya was shocked.

You have to understand, in their understanding, the Yanlong Kingdom now has at least several hundred million people. Suddenly reducing the number of people from several hundred million to two hundred is such a huge leap in their understanding.

"Did your shelter have many people left over from before?" Shi Yin was surprised as well. "Or do you know of other shelters?"

"No, no," Freya quickly added, "We've been wandering around for so long, we haven't seen many humans, we never imagined that we're... almost extinct?"

In the end, Freya lost her confidence.

Such a large creature, now only a few hundred remain and are nearly extinct, is simply alarmist. If this were before the apocalypse, it would have been a first-class protected animal, right?

"There's nothing we can do. The apocalyptic offensive is too strong." Shi Yin paused for a moment, then changed the subject: "Anyway, you two look so disheveled, you must have had a tough time. Why don't you go to the shelter to rest first?"

“Human beings are having a hard time right now, and only by sticking together can we go further.” Shi Yin tried to persuade him: “Of course, if you insist on going it alone, we won’t force you.”

Nan Zhu and Freya were speechless for a moment. When had they ever seen Shi Yin so easy to talk to, even with a tone of probing and pleading?

Normally, Shi Yin, even if she couldn't be described as absolute, could be considered quite assertive, and they felt a strong sense of disconnect between them.

"Anyway, come with me first, I'll lead the way." Shi Yin waved her hand, signaling the two to follow: "I can tell you've come from the grasslands or the coast, right? There shouldn't be any jungles there. Remember, no flying in areas with jungles."

"Is it because of those sparrows?" Freya asked.

"Yes, they are very aggressive and usually come in large groups, forming huge swarms. Ordinary zombies are much better off fighting each other." Shi Yin patiently explained, "These flying birds have one more characteristic than land zombies: they are united."

"Speaking of which, when I came to rescue you, I saw you were encased in pink ice crystals. Whose superpower is that?" Shi Yin seemed to be in a good mood, wielding her long sword with a whooshing sound, leaving behind only the severed limbs and remains of zombies in her wake.

"Mine," Freya readily admitted.

“I thought so too, pink suits you very well.” After clearing a space, Shi Yin turned to Freya and smiled: “You’re so amazing, it’s a pity you couldn’t protect the person you like.”
