Freya had never seen Tokine laugh like that before.
This was the first time Freya understood how the phrase "a smile that could launch a thousand ships" truly existed; her eyebrows and eyes held a delicate charm, her voice was bright, and her smile was gentle—a beauty that was almost cruel.
Freya had seen Shi Yin's gentle demeanor before, but even the gentle warmth that flowed from between her fingers was nothing more than a warm current beneath an ice layer. She had fantasized about what Shi Yin's smile would look like.
Indeed, the ancients were right.
A beauty unparalleled through the ages, a pleasing sight indeed. Her captivating charm has astonished the world.
"Huh? Why are you crying?" Shi Yin was indeed flustered. She had just turned around and praised her when she saw Freya burst into tears.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have listened to that person, I shouldn't have said those things." Shi Yin guessed that the girl in front of her was thinking of her deceased lover, so she quickly stepped forward to comfort her: "Well, is it still him? Anyway, he definitely doesn't want to see you cry, right? I won't mention it anymore, okay? Don't cry."
"Freya, my name is Freya." Freya wiped away her tears, then suddenly smiled: "We're even."
When you saw me cry, I also saw a side of you that no one else knew.
So, we're even.
"Huh?" Shi Yin was confused.
What's the point of evening things out?
"I'm sorry, I didn't expect that even after the apocalypse, there would still be people with such rich emotions." Shi Yin reflected on herself: "The people in our shelter have been tortured to the point of emotional dullness. This is how I usually talk to them."
"Miss, are the people in the shelter in very poor mental condition right now?" Nan Zhu had a bad feeling.
Modern humans are essentially large, social creatures; shrinking to a tribe would make survival extremely difficult.
According to this voice, there are only two hundred humans left. If their mental state is still this bad, it's practically the same as extinction.
"Huh? Wait, don't suddenly call me that." Shi Yin was flattered: "The New Flame Dragon Kingdom doesn't have slaves. What's with you suddenly calling me 'Miss'? My name is Shi Yin, you can just call me Shi Yin."
"Uh." Nanzhu stammered.
He really couldn't get used to it; he felt uncomfortable all over.
“These humans who have been protected all the way have also had a lot of bad luck. They have basically lost important people to them. Coupled with the unpredictable disasters, they are basically numb.” Shi Yin did not notice Nan Zhu’s discomfort and explained to herself, “But it’s actually not too bad. Things will definitely get better after the apocalypse is over.”
"Will the apocalypse ever end?" Nan Zhu wondered.
"Uh, you can ask me this question, but don't ask anyone else in the shelter." Shi Yin's voice grew weaker and weaker as she spoke, clearly indicating that she herself lacked confidence.
Therefore, Tokine is currently unaware of the truth of the world, nor its ending.
Nan Zhu and Freya exchanged a glance and frowned simultaneously.
That's too early. I haven't heard Tokine mention the Five Knights or how many of the Seven Deadly Sins are left, which can only mean that Tokine doesn't have that concept yet.
Did they not even encounter Agartha?
"Ah! Help!"
"You'd better get out of here!"
As the two were pondering, two faint voices came from afar. Before they could react, Shi Yin, who was beside them, had already darted out.
"Wait here for me!"
"Huh?" Freya didn't expect Shion to be so fast now. She didn't even have time to figure it out. She rushed off without saying a word and disappeared in an instant. She quickly followed after her.
Fortunately, the timeline does look quite early now.
Shi Yin appeared to be using at least 80% of her power, but Freya and Nan Zhu managed to keep up, at least managing to vaguely see Shi Yin's back and trajectory.
Meanwhile, on the other side, a group that looked like a squad was surrounded by a group of berserkers.
These berserkers are ridiculously large. Logically speaking, among low-level zombies, the manipulators should be the highest, while the berserkers are at most strong and robust.
However, these berserkers were taller than the manipulators Freya and Nanzhu had seen, their mountain-like muscles estimated to be two or three stories high.
The berserkers they encountered before were at most three meters tall.
Are these ordinary zombie weapons really effective?
As it turns out, it really didn't work.
These squads didn't seem to be superhumans. They fired machine guns for a while, the bullets making a series of small holes in the zombies' muscles, but there was no real damage, and not even much blood was drawn.
The faces of these small teams turned pale. They were similar to exploration teams, gathering information, assessing the situation, exploring the surrounding area, and incidentally collecting herbs or looking for edible crops to replenish the shelter.
Generally speaking, they wouldn't go that far.
However, today, one person in the team suddenly had a mental breakdown. In his anxiety, he picked up a knife and tried to stab himself. This kind of venting is very common among people who have mental breakdowns nowadays.
Of course, others couldn't abandon him. It was precisely because there were fewer and fewer humans that their sense of mutual protection and cherishing had been aroused within their groups.
If one is left unattended, who will care for them in the future? A mental breakdown might be temporary, but what if they regain their senses later? If one doesn't stop it and the other doesn't stop it either, what if all two hundred people die and only you are left?
They spent a long time trying to calm them down, but before they knew it, they had wandered off the map.
It's too late to say anything now. The leader has already pulled out a grenade from his pocket, intending to take these zombies down with him. Even if he dies, he'll take one of them with him.
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of a snow-white figure. The person swooped down from the sky and landed gracefully among the zombies like a crane. The dark green trench coat fluttered in the wind, just like the tail feathers of a crane.
The newcomer was Shi Yin. She twirled her longsword in a beautiful arc, and instantly, the tallest and strongest berserker was decapitated.
“Hey, you guys have gone way too far today.” Shi Yin stood on the mountain-like corpse of the berserker, looking just like a king who had ascended the throne: “Although I will keep an eye on your situation, you won’t always be this lucky.”
"Tokyo!"
"God!"
"grown ups!!"
The team members immediately became excited, their eyes gleaming with hope and excitement.
"Eh? I already said, the New Flame Dragon Kingdom has no gods or slaves, just call me by my name." Shi Yin proudly raised her chin.
Several dark figures loomed over her. The powerful berserkers had already noticed this suddenly appearing formidable enemy and rushed forward, eager to tear Shi Yin to shreds first.
