Chapter 35 The Bad Guys Get Old

Chapter 35 The Bad Guys Get Old

"The basement?" Han Shuo's interest was piqued, and he quickly went into the house.

This room is usually kept closed. Han Shuo had come in before when he had the chance, but he didn't find anything wrong with it.

At that moment, a section of the floor was lifted up.

"Yes, it was Shurou who discovered it." The fat man was craning his neck and looking down at the dark staircase.

"Come on, let me see!" Han Shuo walked over, and sure enough, it really was a basement.

Unexpectedly, there was a basement dug beneath this mansion.

"Shurou, go find a flashlight or a candle or something, we'll go down and take a look in a bit!" The basement was very dark, so Han Shuo didn't go down rashly.

A few minutes later, Li Shurou came running over with a candle in her hand.

Han Shuo reached out and took the candle, then took out a lighter from his pocket and lit it.

"Let's go down and take a look!"

Han Shuo took the lead, followed closely by Fatty and Li Shurou.

The staircase was short; it went down to the bottom after just one turn. By the dim light of the candle, Han Shuo saw a switch button on the wall.

Han Shuo pressed a button, and the entire basement lit up.

"Wow! The light still works!" the fat man exclaimed.

"It's great to have your own generator!" Han Shuo praised, waving to extinguish the candles.

Once the three of them could see inside, without exception, they all wore smiles.

"So they hid all the food here."

The space wasn't very large, about five square meters. It was called a basement, but it was more like a cellar, as the temperature was noticeably lower than upstairs.

The cellar was piled high with supplies. Opposite Han Shuo, there were several boxes of instant noodles, and cases of alcoholic beverages were stacked in the corner...

Han Shuo walked to the back and found some compressed biscuits and sealed food on the shelf, most of which had a long shelf life.

"We've struck it rich! We've struck it rich!" The fat man loved to eat, so he casually grabbed a can of food from the shelf and started eating.

"Uncle Jiang and the others have so much food!" Li Shurou exclaimed in surprise. Just what she saw was enough to feed the three of them for two months.

"Those aren't theirs, they were all stolen from others." Han Shuo found some clothes behind the shelf, picked up a jacket with bloodstains on it, and threw it to Li Shurou.

Seeing the bloodstains on her clothes, Li Shurou finally understood what had happened. If yesterday's poison could be faked, then all of this was clearly evidence.

"Sigh~" Li Shurou was a little sad. She had indeed misjudged him. Most importantly, she recalled her behavior last night.

Li Shurou felt guilty and whispered to Han Shuo once again: I'm sorry.

"What's past is past, let's not talk about it anymore," Han Shuo comforted her.

“That’s right, that’s right, Han Shuo isn’t a stingy person!” the fat man added.

The three then took a detailed count of the supplies, and the final result was as follows:

Four boxes of instant noodles.

There are three and a half cases of alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, some of which have already been opened.

Compressed biscuits, chocolates, candies, and a whole range of similar items filled two shelves, and the boxes probably held up to five or six full.

There were even separate bags of rice and flour, but the cellar was a bit damp, and some black rice weevils could be seen inside.

This is normal. Han Shuo told Li Shurou to go back and let the rice and flour dry. After picking out the insects, they could still eat it.

With staple food available, Han Shuo didn't want to keep eating biscuits all the time.

Han Shuo and Li Shurou didn't take any of the clothes that were taken from the survivors, but the fat man picked out a few pieces that were about the same size as him.

Because upstairs, there really weren't any clothes he could wear.

Finally, to Han Shuo's surprise, they also found shotgun ammunition—two large boxes full. The fat man counted them, adding to what he'd found in the cupboard. Now they had over 100 rounds of ammunition!

...

Han Shuo gave the order, and the three of them began to act as porters.

In less than half an hour, all the supplies in the cellar were moved up.

Looking at the supplies in front of her, Li Shurou couldn't help but speak.

"So many! How many people must they have killed!"

The fat man didn't care about any of that and just said casually.

"Who cares? Can't you see it after the cataclysm started? There are more bad guys now!"

Han Shuo also had some thoughts. In today's world, zombies roam freely, human society has completely collapsed, and survival has become everyone's goal.

The prerequisite for survival is escaping from the clutches of zombies.

Secondly, one needs to ensure that one can find food in chaotic times!

However, Han Shuo did not quite agree with what the fat man said. Han Shuo believed that even if a kind-hearted person changes, they will not completely lose their humanity.

Han Shuo sighed and spoke.

"It's not that there are more bad people, it's that bad people have gotten older!"

After saying that, he walked out of the room.

...

The next few days passed peacefully.

Now that they have plenty of food, they could easily continue living comfortably, but Han Shuo doesn't want to.

He first got the fat man back into exercising, and with the good food, after a few days of neglect, the fat man's excess fat became even more noticeable.

The fat man also knew that the three of them would eventually leave, and he also needed to improve his own strength.

While clearing out the nearby zombies, with Han Shuo's permission, Fatty also tried using the shotgun a few times, firing more than 10 bullets in total.

This is also to prevent accidents from easily occurring if the fat man has never fired a gun in a crisis.

Besides cooking for everyone and tidying up the rooms, Li Shurou also spends her free time exercising. Although she is a woman, she is always very strong-willed!

Li Shurou didn't want to be a burden, which was exactly what Han Shuo wanted to see.

After observing for a few more days, Han Shuo observed that although there were obviously more zombies recently than before, there shouldn't be a large number of zombies arriving here in the short term.

Since that's the case, Han Shuo decided to proceed with his next plan!

...

"What? You want to go out alone?" The fat man slammed his hand on the table. "I disagree!"

"I disagree too!" Li Shurou stood on the same side as the fat man this time.

"You two can stay here and watch the house for now, there shouldn't be any problem. I have my own plans." Han Shuo had only mentioned wanting to go out alone for a few days, but he didn't expect Fatty and Li Shurou to refuse so firmly.

“Everything’s fine here, you know what’s going on outside!” Li Shurou was clearly worried.

“That’s right. Besides, we don’t need to find food. What do you want to do?” The fat man was also a little puzzled.

Ever since he met Captain Wang last time, Han Shuo had had a thought in mind: to become stronger.

Unlike the fat Li Shurou, Han Shuo was well aware of his own physical condition, which was almost at its limit, and that exercise alone would not be very effective.

The only way Han Shuo could think of to continue getting stronger was to find out how Wang Dui, a 'superhuman,' acquired his power!

"I want to become stronger, I want to go out and investigate information about 'superhumans' and 'alien species'!" Han Shuo said resolutely!
