Chapter 18 Hospital Survivors

Chapter 18 Hospital Survivors

"Someone's there!"

Han Shuo dared not look back, fearing that if he moved even slightly, the scalpel on his neck would instantly slice open his throat.

"Don't get agitated, I mean no harm."

Judging from the voice, it was a woman. Han Shuo put down the knife in his hand and slowly raised his hands above his head to stand up from the ground.

The scalpel was still pressed against his neck.

"Who are you?"

The woman's voice asked again.

Han Shuo quickly responded.

"My name is Han Shuo, a survivor from outside the hospital."

What are you doing here?!

The woman continued to ask.

“A friend of mine is injured, and I’ve come here to get medicine.”

After Han Shuo finished speaking, he quickly brought the scalpel closer to his neck.

"You're injured? And you're not the only one?"

The woman asked.

Han Shuo quickly explained.

"Don't worry, my friend isn't here. He's unconscious, so I put him in the car outside."

After listening to Han Shuo's explanation, the woman seemed to loosen her grip on the scalpel a little.

In that instant, Han Shuo reacted suddenly, tilted his head, quickly snatched the scalpel from the woman's hand, turned around and placed it against the woman's neck, taking the initiative!

Years of training have paid off; Han Shuo never missed a single opportunity and escaped danger thanks to his amazing reflexes.

"You, what a brilliant tactic!"

The woman hadn't expected Han Shuo to break free, even though she was now the one being held hostage. Yet, she remained calm in her words.

At this moment, Han Shuo saw the woman's face clearly.

The woman had long hair and wore a white dress stained with filth, with the words "Ankang Hospital" written on the front.

Ankang Hospital is the name of the hospital where Han Shuo is currently working.

Judging from her attire, the woman is probably a nurse or a doctor here.

Seeing that he didn't see much panic in the woman's eyes, Han Shuo spoke up.

"Aren't you afraid?"

The woman gave a self-deprecating laugh. "What's so scary about this world? There are far more terrifying things than you. Dying at your hands is a kind of relief!"

After saying that, she quietly closed her eyes.

"brush!"

Han Shuo moved the scalpel away, then threw it away, and the scalpel stuck into the table next to him.

The woman opened her eyes, somewhat surprised, and spoke.

"You're not going to kill me?"

"I told you, I meant no harm!"

Han Shuo ignored the woman, picked up the Tang sword from the ground, and searched the room. Without the sword, the woman posed no threat to Han Shuo; he needed to find what the fat man needed as soon as possible, because it was getting dark outside.

"What are you looking for?" The woman knew she was no match for Han Shuo, and she didn't pull out the scalpel from the table again.

“I wasn’t lying. My friend is injured and needs treatment.”

"Injured? How did you get injured?"

"He was scratched by a corpse dog and is now in a feverish coma."

The woman was puzzled. "What is a corpse dog? He's never heard of that name before."

Just as he was about to ask, Han Shuo's next sentence immediately dispelled his doubts.

"Corpse dogs are dogs infected with the virus, similar to zombies."

"Heh." The woman scoffed coldly and continued.

"Then he's dead, there's no point in you looking for him."

Han Shuo glared at the woman. He hadn't expected that she was not only somewhat crazy, but also seemed to be gloating.

"I have already treated the wound. It is not infected, but now it is inflamed and somewhat ulcerated."

Suddenly, Han Shuo remembered that the woman in front of him was from the hospital. Why not just ask her what he was looking for?

The woman's series of questions had distracted Han Shuo, diverting his attention somewhat.

"Hey, are you from this hospital? Can you help me find what I need?"

Han Shuo stopped searching randomly, but after searching high and low, he couldn't find anything usable in the room.

"Why should I help you? You were just holding me at knifepoint!" the woman said.

"To correct you, you were the one who took me hostage first."

Han Shuo, needing a favor, wasn't too forceful. After speaking, he looked at the woman and quietly waited for her reply.

The woman pondered for a moment.

"It's not impossible for me to help you find something, but I have some conditions."

"What are your requirements!"

"Give me the knife in your hand as a condition for the exchange." The woman had her eye on the knife in Han Shuo's hand for a long time; the only scalpel she could find in the hospital was the one she had just used.

If she could obtain the longsword, her chances of survival would increase significantly.

"impossible!"

Seeing that the woman was being somewhat unreasonable, Han Shuo stopped pressing her. At this moment, he didn't have much time left.

Since he hadn't reached an agreement with the woman, Han Shuo didn't bother to pursue the matter any further.

He turned around, intending to leave the room and search elsewhere.

"Wait, I don't need the knife. Unless you take me out of here." This was the woman's ultimate goal; even if she got Han Shuo's knife, she wasn't confident she could escape.

Since Han Shuo was able to enter this place from the outside on his own, he obviously has methods that ordinary people do not have.

"make a deal!"

Han Shuo immediately agreed to the woman's request. It would indeed be difficult for him to find everything the fat man needed, wandering aimlessly through the entire building like a headless fly.

"But if you do anything improper along the way, I will kill you first!"

The woman was unfazed by Han Shuo's threats. She had run out of food; staying there meant certain death. Now, with hope of survival, her attitude towards Han Shuo changed dramatically.

"Okay, you go first, I'll give directions."

After saying that, he followed Han Shuo out of the room.

"Turn left ahead."

"Turn left again."

"Then keep walking."

"Go to the end, turn right, and go to the innermost room."

Han Shuo followed the woman's directions, and every zombie he encountered died at his hands. Fortunately, he didn't encounter hordes of zombies this time, but he still killed more than ten in total.

The woman looked at Han Shuo from behind, extremely shocked. She had expected Han Shuo to be extraordinary, but she hadn't realized he was this powerful.

Finally, the two arrived at a warehouse without incident. Inside, the warehouse was filled with various medicines and medical supplies.

"I'll go get something." The woman was very familiar with the medicines in the storeroom, and soon she had packed a bag of things.

Han Shuo glanced at it and saw that apart from some gauze, scissors, needles and thread, he didn't recognize any of the remaining medicines or antibiotics.

"You're really bold. Aren't you afraid of going back empty-handed? Do you even know what kind of medicine your friend needs? Even if you manage to find it, without any medical knowledge, you'll most likely poison your friend to death!"

The woman seemed somewhat smug. She used her usual three-question death trap, leaving Han Shuo with no reason to refute. It was as if she felt a surge of happiness upon seeing a glimmer of hope for survival.

Han Shuo couldn't explain it; he was so anxious at the time that he genuinely hadn't considered that. He was also very fortunate to have met the survivors from the hospital here.

"Let's go back first!"

It was already quite dark, and in about 20 minutes it would be completely dark.
