Chapter 40 H City

Chapter 40 H City

"Strange? There's nothing there."

Han Shuo drew his Tang sword and poked and prodded at the mummified corpse, from head to toe, until the entire body was wrecked, even the bones were shattered into dust.

"Won't it all burn down in one fire?"

Han Shuo was still somewhat unwilling to give up. Since Captain Wang was looking for the alien species, it meant that it must have a secret.

However, the strange creature in front of him did not reveal any clues to Han Shuo.

When the alien is alive, its skin is as hard as an iron plate. After it dies, it looks much like an ordinary person after being cremated.

What caused its skin to become like this?

Han Shuo pondered. He didn't want to give up. He found a broom next to the gas station and swept the mummified corpse aside, wanting to check one last time if there was anything unusual on the ground.

"What's this?!"

Suddenly, Han Shuo noticed a puddle of liquid on the ground!

My eyes lit up; all my efforts had finally paid off.

The liquid was pure white, and you wouldn't notice it unless you looked closely. It's hard to imagine how this liquid could have survived under such high temperatures of fire.

Logically speaking, it should have evaporated long ago!

Han Shuo didn't touch it directly with his hands. Instead, he went back to the car and took out a card and a bottle.

I flicked the liquid with the card, and it rolled a little.

"Huh? It looks a bit like mercury." The pure white liquid did not wet the card.

Han Shuo became increasingly curious, and then poured the liquid into a bottle.

"Could this be what Captain Wang is looking for?" Han Shuo shook the bottle and examined it. Based on the location where the liquid had appeared, Han Shuo already knew that this substance must have flowed out from the back of the alien's head.

"High temperature resistant, like mercury, pure white." After studying it for a long time, Han Shuo finally came up with these clues. He had no idea what the pure white liquid was supposed to do.

Is it edible?

Suddenly, this thought popped into Han Shuo's mind.

Immediately afterwards, Han Shuo was startled. He didn't even dare to touch the liquid, let alone eat it.

"Never mind, let's put it away for now and have Li Shurou take a look later. She's a doctor, I don't know if she can detect the ingredients."

Han Shuo tightened the bottle cap and stopped thinking about it. Now that he had found the special characteristics of the alien species, all his previous efforts had not been in vain.

As for the effects of this liquid, Han Shuo believed he would find out in the future!

...

Finally, Han Shuo found a room and rested in the service area for an hour. By then, it was around 2 p.m.

"We can only drive for another two hours at most, and we must get off the highway before 4 p.m.!"

Once in the car, Han Shuo continued driving on the highway.

After a good night's sleep, Han Shuo is full of energy!

After calculating the time, it was not yet four o'clock, and Han Shuo turned into a fork in the road.

"H City?" The sign above indicates that the exit here is H City.

The entrance to the toll station was jammed with cars, but the exit was not blocked, and Han Shuo drove off smoothly.

Next, Han Shuo headed straight for the city. He had already made up his mind that he would not avoid the city as before. Finding more survivors in the wild was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

There was still some time before dark, and they had entered the city. Han Shuo could easily find a house to stay in for the night, so he didn't have to sleep in the car like he did last night.

"This H city is obviously bigger than the city I was in before!" Han Shuo couldn't help but exclaim.

Although he wasn't a complete homebody like Fatty, he could still endure loneliness, and due to his personality, Han Shuo rarely went on trips.

As he drove, Han Shuo inadvertently noticed a line of text on the wall of a roadside shop:

City survivors, head here!

The words were spray-painted on the wall in red, and clearly, an arrow was drawn at the end of the text, pointing forward.

"Someone is gathering survivors!"

Han Shuo immediately understood. The city was overrun with zombies. Although many had wandered outside after two months, the number of zombies remaining in the city was still terrifying, given the city's population density.

It's winter now, so if we only consider the zombies, it's not too bad. The outside is definitely safer than the city!

However, don't forget that besides zombies, there are also a series of other factors such as food, warmth, shelter, and so on.

Therefore, there are still far more survivors remaining in the city than outside!

Now, some people have made a mark, wanting to gather everyone together for mutual support. Everyone knows that one person's strength is limited, but many hands make light work.

Previously, Han Shuo had a strong survival ability, so the three of them chose to stay outside.

But once things settled down, Han Shuo's thirst for power ignited like a spark.

Upon seeing the words on the wall, Han Shuo was overjoyed and drove in the direction the arrow pointed.

"In the past, I would have definitely avoided places with a lot of people, but now it's the other way around," Han Shuo muttered to himself.

He was at a loss. Han Shuo had no clue how to break through the limits of human capability. Searching aimlessly on his own was completely impossible, so he could only search in places with many people.

Where there are people, there will be more news!

Those who have survived to this day are either lucky or have their own resources!

...

Soon, Han Shuo opened two paths forward following the arrow's location and indeed discovered new markings.

This time, the marker was an arrow pointing to the left. Han Shuo frowned because the road to the left was completely blocked by cars.

Han Shuo turned around, trying to find another way around, but he seemed to have run out of luck for the day. He tried turning left and right at four or five intersections but couldn't get through.

In the end, with no other choice, Han Shuo returned to his original position, ready to abandon the car!

Of course, he didn't completely abandon the vehicle; there were still many supplies on board, which he couldn't give up.

He was just parking the car here. When the opportunity arose, Han Shuo would definitely come back to pick it up, since he still needed to drive back.

...

He had to carry a Tang sword and a gun, as these were his weapons for survival. As for food, Han Shuo packed about two or three days' worth into his backpack and threw the rest into the trunk of the car.

After everything was settled, Han Shuo set off on foot!

"Sure enough, the further in you go, the more congested the roads become, and cars simply can't get through."

After about half an hour, Han Shuo walked several kilometers. Every road here was filled with abandoned vehicles.

In total, Han Shuo killed dozens of zombies with his Tang sword, so these lone ordinary zombies posed no threat to him at all.

If Han Shuo encounters a group of eight or ten zombies, he will avoid them, as there is still a risk of injury if he fights them head-on.

"Sigh, before I know it, it's getting dark again."

During this time, Han Shuo discovered five new markers. After traveling for another half hour, it got dark.

Instead of continuing his journey, Han Shuo randomly chose a shop to stay overnight.
