Chapter 41 Corpse Cat

Chapter 41 Corpse Cat

Han Shuo woke up early the next morning.

Nothing too unexpected happened that night; Han Shuo locked the shop door tightly.

However, after entering the city, the number of zombies increased significantly, and Han Shuo often heard the low growls of zombies outside his door in the middle of the night.

With his Tang sword slung over his shoulder, a hunting rifle in hand, and a backpack full of food on his back, Han Shuo opened the door, dealt with the two zombies at the entrance, and continued walking in the direction the arrow pointed.

After walking about three intersections, Han Shuo suddenly heard some noise ahead.

He carefully walked slowly along the alley, and peeked out to see a spot about 50 meters to his left.

A young man is standing on the roof of a bus, with hordes of zombies gathered below him.

The young man held an iron bar in his hand, his body trembling slightly, and his face was filled with despair.

More and more zombies were swarming below, crowding together into a mass of flesh, reaching out to grab the roof of the bus.

The youth station was located on relatively high ground, so there wasn't much immediate danger, but with nowhere to retreat, they could only wait to die.

Han Shuo observed for a while, and sure enough, soon the zombies piled up into a wall of flesh, with the innermost zombies trampled underfoot, one, two, three, four...

Unbeknownst to them, the zombies behind them were climbing higher and higher, and were about to climb onto the roof of the car.

"Ah! Get away! Get away!" The young man frantically waved the iron bar in his hand, knocking down any zombie that tried to climb up.

Shoot one down, two come up; shoot two down, three come up...

Han Shuo already knew the outcome, so he stopped hiding and walked straight out of the alley, heading in a direction other than where the young man had been.

At this moment, the zombies' attention was entirely focused on the young man, and even when Han Shuo walked out of the alley, he did not attract the zombies' attention.

In just a short time, no fewer than a hundred zombies had gathered near the bus.

When Han Shuo appeared, the young man on the roof of the bus also saw him, waving his hands frantically and shouting.

"Help me! Help me!"

Han Shuo turned his head and glanced at it indifferently, ignoring it.

He knew very well that he was just an ordinary person, and Han Shuo would not do anything that would bring trouble upon himself.

Fighting against hundreds of zombies, not to mention the infinitely slim chance of being saved, if you dare to rush forward, you will be instantly overwhelmed by the horde of zombies.

...

Soon, 10 minutes later, Han Shuo discovered a new marker with an arrow pointing straight ahead.

As for that young man from earlier, he had almost forgotten about him...

After walking for a while, Han Shuo saw an artificial lake ahead.

On either side of the lake, there is an identical arched stone bridge. Several zombies roam the bridge on the left.

Han Shuo chose to walk on the rainbow bridge on the right, where he did not see any trace of zombies.

Once on the bridge, Han Shuo lingered for a while, admiring the lake. The artificial lake was quite beautiful, with exquisite sculptures carved in the center.

If it weren't for the dozens of corpses floating on the lake, strolling around here would truly be a pleasant experience.

"The scenery is much better than the small moat near my own neighborhood in City A," Han Shuo said, making a comparison.

After watching for two minutes, Han Shuo immediately went down the bridge and walked to the other side of the lake.

As soon as he stepped off the bridge, Han Shuo noticed two cats on the shore, heads down, gnawing on a corpse.

"Corpse Cat!"

Han Shuo naturally gave them names.

This animal, like the corpse dog, was also infected with the ice crystal virus. It was larger in size and had severe hair loss. In particular, the eyes of these two cats were also glowing red.

The moment Han Shuo discovered the corpse cat, the two corpse cats also discovered him!

"Meow—! Meow—!" These two cries were anything but cute; compared to a normal cat, the corpse cat's cries were much sharper!

The two corpse cats simultaneously abandoned their food and pounced on Han Shuo.

"So fast!"

Han Shuo exclaimed in surprise and dodged to the side.

Seeing that its attack had failed, the corpse cat landed and turned around to pounce again.

Han Shuo drew his knife in time and held it in front of him.

"Ding, ding—!"

The corpse cat's claws gripped the Tang sword, making a crisp sound. Han Shuo blocked the attacks of the two corpse cats, one in front and one behind.

"Huh? It's fast, but it's weak."

The brief collision prompted Han Shuo to make an analysis.

As he said, the advantage of the Corpse Dog is its stronger teeth, but it is slower. The Corpse Cat, on the other hand, is faster, but much weaker.

Of course, both the zombie dogs and zombie cats are much faster than ordinary zombies!

“Taking the initiative to attack is impossible; this corpse cat's reaction speed is much faster than mine.”

Han Shuo cautiously took a step back, his mind racing as he considered how to respond.

"We can only wait for them to attack, to pounce in the air, and then look for an opportunity!"

The corpse cat charged again, this time aiming for Han Shuo's face with one claw and his chest with the other.

Before he could swing his sword, Han Shuo tilted his head back and bent over to dodge the first attack.

Immediately afterwards, he braced his hands on the ground, flipped himself into an upside-down position, and when the second corpse cat arrived, he seized the opportunity and kicked the corpse cat in the stomach.

The second corpse cat was kicked about five meters into the air by Han Shuo. Han Shuo quickly got up and picked up his Tang sword again.

Since the corpse cat was in the air, it couldn't adjust its landing position. The moment it fell, Han Shuo's Tang sword was already ready. He stretched out his right arm, aimed, and the corpse cat's head was stuck in the tip of the sword.

"Take one down!" Han Shuo encouraged himself.

At this moment, another corpse cat turned around and pounced again, but this time, what awaited it was a black gun barrel!

"Bang!" Han Shuo fired a shot, shattering the corpse cat's head.

"Done!"

Han Shuo put away his hunting rifle and sheathed his Tang sword.

The two corpse cats did not pose a significant threat to him this time.

Han Shuo always felt that the zombified creatures were stupid, only knowing how to attack based on instinct, without any skills whatsoever.

As long as he stays calm and performs at his best, he can usually escape danger smoothly.

Of course, the prerequisite for escaping danger is that the number cannot be too large.

Whether it's zombies, corpse dogs, or corpse cats, as long as there are enough of them, they can bury Han Shuo in the ground instantly.

...

This encounter with the corpse cat served as a wake-up call for Han Shuo.

In the two months that had passed in the city, most of the pets had run away from their homes, and Han Shuo discovered something else: the animals not only ate people, but also the corpses of zombies.

Cats and dogs in normal homes that are not infected with the Ice Crystal Virus can also become infected if they are starving and eat the flesh of zombies.

Those two corpse cats were the ones Han Shuo saw earlier; they were devouring zombie corpses.

Han Shuo had never seen zombies kill each other, or animals eat zombies, and he felt he needed to be careful about this in the future.
