Chapter 25 Mr. Poirot's Deduction Time

Upon hearing the word "also," Yoruichi Toyama burst into laughter.

"Same to you!"

A strong, whistling wind swept past me, seemingly carrying away the invisible gloom.

...

"Alright, I think I've given that young detective enough time."

After saying this, Mingzhi turned and headed towards the gate, ready to return to normalcy.

Yoruichi Toyama, however, smiled and reached out to stop him.

"Hey, you police officer, don't slack off!"

"Do you also intend to hand over all the cases to laymen to solve, just like Inspector Yokomizo and his colleagues?"

Mingzhi couldn't help but roll his eyes.

"Police officers need to rely on evidence when handling cases."

"Only detectives like you can identify the murderer solely through reasoning without getting complaints, right?"

Yoruichi Toyama, who had been retorted, burst into laughter.

"I knew it, would it be wise not to be sarcastic or sarcastic?"

"Why were you so serious when you reprimanded Officer Yokogawa and the others? You didn't say anything sarcastic or cutting."

“I forgot,” Mingzhi said, adjusting his glasses. “I’ll catch up when I get back.”

It seems like everything is really alright now.

Yoruichi Toyama smiled and nodded.

"So, before you go back, and without having to act as a police officer, just share your personal opinion!"

Who do you think is most likely the murderer?

This time, Mingzhi glanced at him and didn't hesitate any longer.

"Ms. Akiko Sayama."

"Huh?" Yoruichi Toyama didn't expect this person to come up with the correct answer so quickly.

Even Conan had to run up and down the stairs several times to confirm the modus operandi.

Seemingly knowing what he was thinking, Akechi shrugged.

"You asked me for my personal opinion, not for the method or motive of the crime."

“If you bring it up later, I definitely won’t admit it.”

So it really was just a "personal opinion"...

"But what's the reason?"

Surely it wasn't just a random guess?

"The reason is that Mr. Maeda Satoshi is basically the one who defeated Officer Misawa, stole the 'Dark Baron's' clothes and mask, and then appeared in front of Akiko Sayama and Ms. Ran Mouri to attack them."

"Unless you can find a second skilled fighter in the hotel."

"Actually, Miss Ran Mouri had already guessed it was him, which is why she was vague and looked unwell when recounting what happened."

"Since she also practices karate, it's only natural for her to regard a former karate champion as her idol."

Most of the people present at the time should have noticed this.

For example, Kogoro Mouri directly called Satoshi Maeda the "Baron of the Night".

Although Maeda Satoshi tried his best to defend himself, he did not provide any strong counter-evidence.

"Then why can't Mr. Maeda be the murderer?"

Since they were still in the brainstorming stage, Yoruichi Toyama decided to start arguing.

"While it is highly unusual for him to reappear disguised as the 'Baron of the Night,' it could also be a deliberate attempt to create a false impression in order to exonerate himself."

"After all, the clothes and mask were thrown into the swimming pool water containing calcium hypochlorite, so no evidence can be found."

Mingzhi chuckled.

"Unless it can be confirmed in the end that it was not him who appeared in front of Ms. Sayama and Ms. Ran Mouri."

"Otherwise, why would someone who isn't a prime suspect deliberately step forward to 'create a false impression'?"

"Maybe it's just a prank? Just to scare his girlfriend a little?" Yoruichi Toyama suggested another possibility.

If you work as a police officer for a long time, you'll encounter all sorts of people with all kinds of thought processes.

Yoruichi Toyama had heard from a colleague before that a guy had cried and shouted that he was a wanted criminal and went to the police station to turn himself in.

It wasn't until later that I found out he had a fight with his girlfriend and wanted to use this method to test his importance in her heart.

If you don't know the plot, it's hard to say whether Maeda Satoshi is that kind of person.

“Then he should have told us when the police formally questioned him,” Mingzhi replied.

"What if he chickens out and doesn't dare to speak up, afraid of being investigated by the police?" Yoruichi Toyama continued to argue.

However, this questioning did not trouble Mingzhi in the slightest.

Instead, it made him smile with confidence, and he pushed up his glasses frame again with his fingers.

"It is undeniable that some people's thinking is completely irrational and cannot be deduced using normal logic."

"However, Yuanshan, have you noticed that there are more items pulled out of the swimming pool than what was missing from Mr. Jiangyuan?"

"It's that straight black wig that reaches the ears. I remember 'Dark Baron' had that hairstyle."

Yoruichi Toyama remembered that when those things were pulled up, this guy was scolding the Yokomizo detectives so badly they couldn't even lift their heads.

He only glanced at the evidence bag.

She has a really good memory.

"Wait a minute! You didn't see Mr. Jiang Yuan's body before, so how can you be sure he wasn't wearing a wig?"

Mingzhi's expression was somewhat helpless.

“I did see Mr. Jiang Yuan’s hairstyle; it’s exactly the same as ‘Dark Night Baron’.”

"Those who were drawn here by 'The Dark Baron' are mostly fans of Yusaku Kudo's novels, besides being interested in that computer virus."

"That's why Mr. Jiang Yuan has that hairstyle. Why would he need to wear a wig?"

"According to you, Mr. Maeda is also a die-hard fan of 'Baron of the Night,' so what's wrong with having a wig like that?" Yoruichi Toyama was clearly caught up in the argument, disregarding her status as a spoiler fan, determined to prove herself right.
